Sorry it's giving you trouble, hopefully it can be easily resolved.

The marking on the switch top is normal. The whole part is silver plated, and quite thick by the looks of it. The frosted appearance is not going to hold up. It's part of the plating process, silver plate table ware is treated differently, material is put down more slowly and done with 'asymmetrical AC'. That is plating is laid down half the cycle of the mains then most of it is stripped off again on the other half cycle. Since the more exposed deposits strip faster, the 'high points' are removed and the surface builds atom by atom in fairly neat layers. The finish you see is typical of what you'd use for similar applications. I too was alarmed that mine was 'scuffed up' until I thought about it a bit.

What looks like deposits on the screw heat does concern me. That's usually pointing at marginal contact (mechanical issue), which also fits your overall problem? I'm wondering if this might be the 'too short' side of the too long issue my carts are in for? Even through it's brand new, if the cart was loose, too short or otherwise out of spec this is exactly what I'd expect.

I agree with you, I'm not doubt at fault. George Bush can't be responsible for everything that's wrong around here....... And who can blame them? I mean I finally pack up my gear and split (maybe 1:30), I've no doubt some celebrating broke out. Only natural. Hopefully they won't be too hung over tomorrow morning to get back to you, but if not, it's sometimes crazy there, I'd call again?

Please let us know how it turns out? TIA

Hey, and congrats on the Luna, neat little guy (when it works), ain't it?

OF

It's really hard to see in the pic but the deposits that you spoke of on the screw head match up perfectly with holes in the silver contact plate that have scorch marks around them. The more I look at it it appears to me that the silver got hot enough to melt and fuse to the screw head.

Here's another for shits n giggles

Yep, I'd assumed as much. The metal on the screw has to come from somewhere.....

Yes, it has to get hot enough to melt, but not from what you're thinking of, that temperature is way too much to have come from the heater through the core. It's no doubt from an unexpected (and unwanted) arc due to marginal contact force. Lots of current (and therefore power) available to 'do the good work'.....not unlike an arc welder would, really? This is actually pretty common, and often is 'self healing' but I fear in the end this is a fit issue that will need correction, but let's let the maker weigh in on it?

As an owner your needs are simple, you want hot, fast and at the right level. Every time. And I think you're in line to get it. The other TV products point to a happy ending here I think.

BTW, the crown of the thread looks a little raw doesn't it? A little more time in the tumbler (or smaller media) seems in order to me. That will, of course, 'wear in' but why not just remove it? Another of the hundreds of little details to sort through, and good show for us here is they will I think. Unlike makers that fill boxes for dollars.

Wasn't thinking the heater caused it was thinking more along the lines of a loose connection causing an intermittent short or something like that. Your arcing theory makes sense though didn't think of that.

Thanks for the response

We greatly appreciate the feedback for the recently shipped Luna's, as well as OF's insight.

Some of the first Luna's (8 or 10 orders) shipped may not have been adjusted correctly to the same body paired with the cartridge during shipment. Obviously shimming them to the exact body they will be used with is ideal. We will gladly cover shipping both ways to any customer that needs this done.

If you were one of the first to receive your Luna (Shipping dates 3/3 and 3/4) and have: rough switch engagement, an inconsistent activation, or a noticeable gap between the cart and body please contact us for a RMA#. These should be fairly quick, same day turn around.

I believe I just responded to your email inquiry MileHighLife and provided the RMA# for you.
Thank you!

This is being cross-posted because we have made a policy decision on the status of the Cera and Luna threads.

When the Luna started shipping and we started to see increased activity in its candidate thread, we also began getting questions about whether it should be merged with the Cera thread. We were asked to consider that TET was presenting a technology platform and not really a new device.

Our policy is that a thread is about a particular device that you can buy. If you go to TET's website you are greeted with two large graphics, one for the (1) Luna and one for the (2) Cera. Some of the text below them reads:

Two Devices [our emphasis]

You can order a Cera or a Luna. Clearly TET markets these as two devices, therefore there will be two threads.

This is intended as an announcement only. Please do not respond in this thread. PMs are welcome but do not expect this decision to change.

OK FC :D I've had my Luna for about a week now and I must she is INCREDIBLE! I've loaded some hi grade Co2 oil and she doesn't stop giving! You literally press the button and 2 seconds later you can get a lung busting cloud! You can also get some sweet micro hits too once you learn how to rock the button which should take you no more then 10 seconds. I've been using her for strictly oil for the last week. I had said in a previous post my Cera carts all worked fine in my Luna. I was able to vape an LL bowl in the Luna last week. Per Muds request I just put the LL cart on the Luna to try to do a few consecutive LL bowls and this time the LL didn't fire up right away. I had to take it off and put it back on and play with the button for a sec then it lit up but not too full glow like in the Cera. This experiment just showed me that it could work if INTENDED but it is not intended for that. Plus IMO it looks like shit with the UFO mouthpiece on there. I put the LL cart back on the Cera and she worked fine as well as the oil cart back on the Luna and she worked fine. My other 2 EO carts still work fine in the Luna. These 2 separate vapes are sheer works of art and machinery IMHO;) Each has their job, and they do it very well. TET, the only request I have is: Can you Pretty Please make a 510 ceramic drip tip for the Luna? The Delrin works fine but the flavor is def better from the UFO:2c:

I Believe the already make 510 ceramic drip tips. Not thermovape but http://www.litecigusa.net/mobile/Product.aspx?id=39849.

I've ordered these in the past for my Cera...

http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=68_74&products_id=526

...Only problem was they did not fit snugly in the EO cartridge, wiggling excessively. If you've found a better, tighter fitting ceramic mouthpiece, I'd love to try it, but they do look very similar.

Edit: Fixed my poor grammar.

Personally, i only used the delrin mouthpiece by itself once when i first got it. It melted or burned or deformed or all of the above so i tossed it and started using the smoothflow mouthpiece i had left over from my revolution. Never had an issue with taste using that. Its a little more expensive but it fits, and is easy to clean and probably will last forever

I too use a smoothflow mouthpiece...I am assuming you still have and use the delrin 510 moutpiece that fits in the "female" end of the smoothflow connector?

Do you notice after prolonged use that your smoothflow wicks up more of your oils? It seems that my smoothflow mouthpiece heats up considerably after time, and makes it easier for me to "suck" out more of my oils from the cartridge and into the smoothflow as opposed to the delrin tip alone?

I am not sure if I am overloading, not giving the cartridge enough time to cool off after loading before use, if my draw speed is too quick, or I am sitting on the heat too long...time and practice will tell.

Edit: I've never actually rinsed the smoothflow under cool water as recommended for fear of getting small amounts of water in my cartridge...does this make a big difference? Or is the smoothflow mouthpiece for the revolution completely different altogether?

Same smoothflow. The water is nice, but kind of impractical. It only lasts a few hits if that...if you wanna try it just rinse it under cold water and blow through it before attaching it and you shouldnt have any problems.

Ive experienced some oil getting in it but usually only if i over load the cartridge and/or make sure the oil is melted in all the way before heating it up and hitting it.

And yes i still use the delrin mouthpiece with the smoothflow. A new one though not the one that burned/melted

Not sure if this helps but....when I first received my Luna, I could not get it to fire up and then the activation became intermittent. I was able to determine that the spring in the battery compartment was not long enough. After lengthening it some, i have not had a single problem since.

Got it. Just had to tighten the switch screw a little.

Ok. I don't think I turned the switch screw. Just the switch turned. Seems like I have to push in and up to activate the switch. Does this sound normal?
This Luna is so damn cool! The perfect oil vape.

I see no reason why not, it's basically a Cera EO cart, where the electrons come from (or go back to after their brief visit) doesn't matter.......

I thought you need 7.4 volt for shatter?

Good News!

Not AFAIK. You need 7.4 for EL cores (no SV planned), but the EO cores are all 3.7 Volts. Mechanically the EO and LL cores use a different size of heater wire. The thinner wire for 7.4 won't work with the attachment in the EO and LL cores, and the thicker 3.7 Volt suitable wire won't fit the attachment in the EL cores.

I don't see much shatter, but since it seems fine in DART I'm sure it'll work in it's larger brother the Cera EO core, be it powered by the Cera or Luna (or hopefully very soon other batteries with upcoming adapters......

I'm loving the Luna. I've been using it with the Cera mp and top cap though.
I find the draw smoother and using the Cera mp allows me to leave a load in the well while I'm using the thing. Cuts down on loading times a lot.
Would be awesome if there were a Cera style mp and top cap made out of SS for durability.

I do not use the delrin MP on my Cera because I like the reserve that the well offers also! I want a Luna sooo bad. I love every Thermovape product, I just picked up a Ultramax Res setup for e juice, because I lost my Ultra res almost a year ago, and it was the reason I quit cigs!

I agree, I liked the ceramic Cera top and MP and was using it before the lot went back to the shop for core fitting. I'll no doubt resume that way despite how it looks and fits in the pocket.

I'm not sure about SS, but other ideas are on the list for 'possible' after the other stuff (not for a while, not to wait.....). A lot of this is being driven by EL core use, and such changes are useless there I think.

I received my Luna yesterday and am having the exact same issues that MileHighLife was having in addition to the core being all scratched up and uneven . I hope Thermovape fixes these issues considering the price of this baby
After working like a champ for the first few loads, I now too have a Luna suffering from an arcing issue. I'm experiencing intermittent switch activation and noticeable material transfer from the switch plate to the contact screw/washer of my EO core. I find that cleaning the contact screw results in a revived core, but only temporarily. The same core and battery roars in my Cera. Bummed. I guess I'll need to send it back to TET for a proper fitting.

I should mention that this was the new EO core purchased with the Luna vaporizer...Grrrrrr

Bummer for sure, but hopefully under control. As I understand it some (if not all) of the initial run was put out before the shims for adjusting the fit were available. Some of them are within the tightened up length spec by chance I think.

Remember, this can also go the other way, it can be too long. That doesn't lead to arcing but can hang the switch up sometimes. One of my original carts does this. That's why my Luna and cores are in the shop, to get the cores adjusted as well as getting the Luna checked out so all the 'properly adjusted' carts are neither too long or too short to work correctly with the new switch.
