Going on spring break to denver lol. Excited to goto a recreational shop and buy some goodies. How much is the typical going rate? I see rates online but not sure if that included 36% tax. Looking for some quality edibles (soda, candy, cookies, etc), have heard these vary alot and was hoping for some guidance

There've been other threads about this, but the bottom line is, retail shops aren't cheap. After the tax (yes it's 30+%) it's at least $50 for an eighth. My roommate paid 120 for a quarter at a retail shop last month. Also regarding prices, some places include the tax and some don't.

For edibles I would stay away from drinks if you're looking for a good value. Denver has a ton of awesome edible companies but they'll be pricey. I think baked goods (like brownies/cookies) and taffy products are the best tasting and the best value for your money. When I had my med card I pad ~20 bucks for sour licorice with 200mg of thc. I wouldn't be surprised if a retail shop charged twice that. Expect to pay at least $10 (probably more) for a 100 mg edible.

Weedmaps.com will show you all of the 21+ recreational shops in Colorado. Some even have menu's and prices, most have reviews.

As far as edibles, you can use these test results http://www.thecannabist.co/2014/03/12/thc-levels-edibles-see-lab-tests-denver-post-study/6708/ and know which ones to absolutely avoid. Like the Dr. J's products that are advertised as containing 100mg of THC, but actually tested as low as 0.03mg :disgust: that's one expensive hersey bar.

I'm not a big edible guy, but I do enjoy the Incredible candy bars and they seem to have tested really great too, advertised as 100mg THC, actually contains 146mg THC

I have also seen photos of Edipure products that were moldy, but you cannot see inside the required packing so you won't know until you leave in most cases.

Edibles seem real sketchy right now.

After looking for a bit think I finally found somewhere with consistently good reviews; alot of other places had ok reviews then horrible reviews (inconsistent). If its $57 after tax I am ok with it for top grade (all the reviews say its the best they have seen).

Would you guys say a 100mg dose is strong (I have no reference point)? I have seen that list and will definitely avoid the shitty brands.

Thanks for the advice!

100mg should be plenty strong. From the link aesthyrian posted, I've tried the Incredible mint chocolate bar, cheeba chew, and the growing kitchen cookie.

The cheeba chew is gross and the growing kitchen cookie is nothing memorable. However the growing kitchen also makes something a little more exotic that's pretty good; it's called a zoom ball and made with coconut, seaweed, and fig.

The Incredible bar is aptly named- tastes just like an andes mint. They make a banana taffy and a strawberry (chocolate I believe) flavor as well. Banana is good, not sure about strawberry but it's prob pretty tasty. And according to the study the mint chocolate is underrated: 146mg instead of 100.

Unless you have a high tolerance I probably wouldn't eat more than ~100mg in one sitting.
:mmmm:

This is interesting stuff. It seems that they should be arresting people for legally selling under-dosed products (this is effectively stealing money by lying about the contents of your product). Can any incompetent hack just start an edible company and sell to dispensaries? Has anyone been disappointed by (or happy with) Incredibles, Blue Kudu, or Growing Kitchen? From the tests they seem like the more legit names in edibles.

Happy with blu kudu, bought cookies and cream and it tastes SO GOOD. Effect is pretty strong too (ate 20mg worth last time)

FWIW, I bought a 100mg Full Melt Chocolate Bar for $10 + tax. It can be broken into easy 10mg doses.
For ref. I'm a daily low-dose vaper. 20mg was a nice high, for me, I wouldn't want to take much more than that if I wanted to be comfortable. I'd buy it again. Taste of the herb was non existant to me with the 'milk chocolate' flavor, which makes it easily consumable, but sometimes I like that smell/taste/flavor in an edible..

As said above, unless you have a [very] high tolerence, 100mg at once is probably going to be quite intense...
