I have a shorty phves and it's good for a quick session.
A complete PHVES or STOCK are better. Now if I only had the stock no worries. I like it!

Mix it up have many configurations!

It is EVA.
Back in the 80's early 90's it was used a lot on JET SKI'S.
I put EVA FLOORING down where I medicated. Breaking glass everyday is out of control. Some GYM's use it on their floor. You can find EVA matting in different sizes & thickness!

HARBOR FREIGHT had it on sell.
It's super cheap!

I'm curious,what is the average life span of the battery?

suppose 2-3 12-min cycles each day, and charged every 2nd-3rd day?

a year ,maybe 2...??

Hello,

I have done some research on the Solo and have read in this thread I believe that there is a new 2014 model out that allows you to use it while being charged as well as improved airflow (I guess some people have said it was hard to draw from).

I am looking locally to buy one but can't find definite information on what the latest model number is. I have read somewhat conflicting reviews that have said a few model numbers such as M1A100, M1C, M1D, which one is the newest?

I have emailed Arizer asking for clarification but I have received no reply.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have two Solos, my newest, M1D2- which draws smoothly! Much better draw than the previous models-no PVHES needed, and you can use it while plugged in! This is my tabletop and portable VAPE. I will keep my other as a back up, for now. We shall see.

Thanks for the quick reply.

One of the local stores has the M1D but I didn't take note of the number after that. I didn't buy it right then because the instructions said "this unit can not be operated while plugged in to the charger". I am not sure if that is general instructions and arizer didn't change them yet or if it was really an older model. I will go back and find out if it was the M1D2

Am I the only one to be happy I don't have a newer unit

I like stock stems more i don't fell the restriction as i draw at a slow pace this is how the solo works best IME draw just a bit slower then where you can fell the restriction. Why would I spend almost 3x as much for a stem that I would still have to draw slow on to get the best out of my solo

Thy made the solo as restricted as they did in the 1st place for a reason

The orange line represents the Solo using a brand new stock battery pack from full charge. A "Cycle" consists of one 12 minute session at level 7, with 15 minutes cool down time in between. There's not much difference between generations of Solo's in terms of battery life except for the difference between metal and ceramic units (top and bottom respectively)

At the rates you've mention @tdriver, you can expect two years or so as long as you don't leave it dead for extended periods of time

The original instruction sheet provided is now out of date. An updated or corrected version of the "manual" needs to be shipped with the newer version Solos or there will be needless confusion among new users. My warranty replacement Solo was sent without a "manual", so I could not really comment on whether that is actually the case.

Still have not needed to use an "O" ring yet, as I have been readjusting the black factory retaining ring like the manufacturer suggests. I prefer it being tight because the bent stem is my favorite and it bugs me when it spins. I find the draw with the stock stem is "just right" for me now that the holes in the heater bowl have been enlarged. Others may prefer a looser fit to give more airflow.

Thanks for the reply. They really do need to modify the new instruction manual to say that it can be used while charging, that would make things much more clear.

I will go get the M1D2 this evening. I will also have to look at the o ring mod, haven't read much about it.

That and people were talking about making their own power adapters a while back. What happened with that? Or is there a cheaper option?

Pics would help. My PA issue was just getting a barrel plug which was kinda hard to find locally.

Our very own @Pipes offers a well made 3rd party alternative power supply called the All In One Plus kit which lets you either charge or run your Solo on the same power supply, among other cool things. Other than that, some of the more technically inclined folks have jiggered up their own solution by using these Jameco brand supplies with an adapter or by soldering a new connector on.

So according to Arizer the actual part numbers mean nothing.... This contradicts everything I have read here and other places.

With the new model, I still have yet to find a O-ring to fit, even after sanding. The threads simply do not catch. Kinda sucks because the stem is SUPER loose.

It's not that they mean nothing, it's that Arizer does not want to tell you that one model is "better" than the other by telling you which one is newer. They have an obligation to their distributors to help move older stock, by publicly stating that one model is preferable to another they would be making a bad business move.

Ya I kind of thought about that before I sent the email, but it is part of innovation. As new products come out the old ones become of lesser value.

But look at the Iphone for example. Are they not to boast about the new features of the new Iphone because some of their retaliers may have some of their old stock still? it doesn't work that way. As a consumer asking a specific question regarding their product I would expect a straight and honest answer from them.

I think that's sort of an Apples to Oranges comparison when you consider that every new iPhone is major iteration of the brand, and that Apple structures it's business model around that regular upgrade cycle.

Apart from minor changes, the only major upgrades to the Solo's design has been a material change for the crucible and a software tweak to allow running while charging. The upgrade path for users is also very different, because phones become obsolete at a much faster rate than vaporizers do.

That doesn't excuse Arizer from not being forthcoming with their information - their behavior when it comes to community inquisition frustrates me greatly and introduced huge delays in my battery project. Robin, the owner of Arizer is incredibly paranoid, and I get the feeling that Arizer would rather ride their success of the Solo for as long as possible than cannibalize their huge grip on the portable market.

I feel that Arizer's practice of keeping the consumer in the dark over incoming model incarnations puts the end user (new or used) at an unfair disadvantage. Without the inconvenience and expense of trial & error fitment, it is difficult to ascertain, for example, which accessories will pair correctly with the model in hand. Older stems from PV fit differently than newer ones, and are therefore not interchangeable when it comes to optimal performance; older PA/Chargers don't work to match the newer model heat-while-charge systems; should a replacement be needed, screw cap threads and plastic/metal gauge differ and are not interchangeable (can one be ordered by referencing serial # or production/distribution run #?); heat range and heat-up time algorithms differ among models putting the consumer in a 'pot luck' position versus being able to choose per preference (i.e., you get what you get, take it or leave it). Arizer, experimenting from one model to the next without apprising the consumer of the changes, I feel is an unfriendly practice. The changes may be all well and good, the mystery is not. With all that said, my M1A4 is still my #1 go-to vape, and when I get another I will seek out an M1A4 (I guess I do somewhat believe that Solo's are #/feature specific, and am suspicious of Arizer's claim that those #'s are irrelevant?) because it's tried & true for me, no guesswork re accessories or performance. If I'm tempted to buy a later production mystery model (new or used), I will have to grope around in the dark of trial and error to get the features I prefer and the right stuff for it, and that stinks. JMO. Love my Solo.

Yup. And they 'told us before'. But you see how much good that does. The nature of the net, I guess. You can get old trying to correct folks over and over I think?

IIRC Accent is even worse. They said they were reusing numbers I think, as they can if they wish. There are a few products that are required to have serial numbers (firearms for instance, and cars) and a whole raft that do so for 'normal' reasons (washing machines, etc). But there is no law that compels numbers on most things (which is why not all vapes are numbered) nor do any (including the guns) require that they be in logical order.

I'll give even odds we're discussing model/serial numbers again before Saturday morning......
