Were you able to get TET to charge you for a rebuild? As of a few weeks ago they were only making sure carts were in spec and not physically damaged...if they pass both those tests they come back to you untouched. At least that has been my experience when sending them in......there has also been a lot of talk about this on the CERA board.

$25 per cart for fresh heater and ceramic.

mod note: The next three posts have been moved from the Cera thread.

Gentlemen (and Ladies of course.....),

I got my Luna a couple hours ago. Very impressive in many ways. I'm having trouble with the EO cart from my Cera and haven't loaded the new one as I'm trying to sort that part out. There is, of course, no reason to think it won't heat the cart correctly, the problem seems to be in the cart itself. It was all working great a few days back of course.

Anyway, the news stuff that's probably most of interest. Now that the push to get the first batch out has died down (although they're still waiting on the new shipping boxes it seems?) they plan to start two new practices 'in the next week or so, hopefully'. One is to include a written report on service tasks done on returns the other is to formalize the 'ground up rebuild' plan. For (I think) $25 they will detail strip the cart, completely clean it, wind a new heater, replace ceramic or other parts as needed and inspect and test is 'like it was brand new'. No judgement will be made on condition or serviceability by them, if the customer puts it in for rebuild that's what happens. Hopefully, those two will go a long way toward avoiding communication problems down the road.

Next up, in the next few weeks, will be the long awaited thread adapters for Cera/Luna carts to use 510 and 601 threads. This not only upgrades T1 and the Ultra line, but opens up Persei, Iris, and a whole host of 'mods' to our favorite EO core.

Following that will be the Cera switch upgrade program. The current plan calls for setting this up to start after the Luna is in full production. While the new switch will fit in the old body, it will have to be fitted at the factory (clearance for the strap being an issue and the switch itself is very difficult to assemble (lots of tiny bits). It's assumed that guys will want the upgrade to be permanent but it's easy enough to get the right tools and pull the exposed screws loose and shake all the part out.......reversing that has problems.

The change also needs the new end cap (guys aren't going to want to still push the button......) of course, putting the new cap on the unchanged Cera will of course lead to a run away Cera.

BTW, the new 'drip tip' MP has moved the shoulder up from the ring, it now rides lower in the core which should help for the guys that had trouble with them falling out. I'm not sure when that change happened.

Anyway, IMO a neat improvement in many ways. More refined in many ways, but IMO not as elegant in others. Cera is just cool IMO. Unlike the others. This one seems to have more in common with the rest of the contenders, although it's clearly better done in many small areas (like the really nice trim tube, carbon fiber with some texture, but could easily be replaced by any one inch tube you'd care to (or none at all, there's a threaded SS tube under it).

BTW it is small. The same diameter and less than half an inch longer than the mini Persei.....which has half the battery (one 18350).

More when I know more worth relating.

Regards.

This is great news, and a wise decision; everyone wins. Reminds me of how many fine watch manufacturers deal with periodic maintenance. (Though the watch people charge two or three orders of magnitude more money).

Oh my god, I've been waiting YEARS for this. Selfishly, this is even greater news. You remember that dual 18650 monster that you referred to as a 2x4? It's been waiting for this.

:):):)

What can you tell us about the switch in the new wonder? I have mixed feelings from the limited pictures I've seen on TETs site. How does it look and feel? Does it look like it could catch on clothing very easily? Looks like it can keep the Luna from rolling off the table.

I just received my 2 LL carts back from TET and it was exactly that, OF, $25 per cart and well worth it. They blaze up like new and they even cleaned out the dark spot in the middle of the ceramic. Just a 7 day turnaround from shipping to TET and back in my mailbox. :D Zeki and the TET team are top notch over there. My luna is due tomorrow but for now I get to fall in love with my Cera LL all over again:love:! Anyone having issues with your LL cart, send it back! For $25 don't wait!

Great! So you were one of the guys they tested the idea on then? Cool. I didn't ask who it was, figuring you guys (there's more than one as I understand it) of you, it was well received I'm told. I think the key is everyone understanding up front what's expected.

Having done a fair bit of service, both field and inside (as well as running a couple Service Depots) I can tell you it's too easy to goof up otherwise.

IMO $25 is a cheap price for removing doubt sometimes, I'm very glad the turn around was fast and hope it continues to be so. We discussed how this (fast turn around) was essential to the program. Guys want to know the separation will be brief and the reunion festive and rewarding. Hey, we're talkin' Cera cores here........

This is great news, and a wise decision; everyone wins.

I agree with ya Bro, a clear win/win. Spells the rules out clearly, puts the owner more in control of what goes on......as it should be. A simple enough thing, kudos to Nate for backing it. I stopped in the shop to chat a bit on the way out and 'the guys' were all excited about it as well, they can see how it will make their lives easier as well. Nobody wants confusion (or at least very few) I think......it's just the natural state of things.

I'm not sure how I feel about the button, for sure it's not what I'd envisioned. It got larger in head diameter from the first time I saw it, that makes it easier to press even though the spring (therefore the force) is actually the same. Still hard to 'fire off' in the pocket, but no longer tries to punch a hold through your thumb.

It doesn't seem to 'hang up' as firmly on the edge of your pocket as you'd expect. Like many things from TV you have to look closely at the details (the bottom edge of the button head is radiused) to find the answer.

It does stop roll away for sure. What's the old joke about giving the old men Viagra to keep them from rolling out of bed in the night? Same deal.......sorta.

One thing sure, it's easier to grab a quick hit with. Much more 'natural' to use.

Last update:

I forgot, the rumors about the new EL cart being much different are true. I'm told it has a much larger inner ceramic core and changed heater configuration. Nate always seems to have his close at hand and is personally testing it in a most dedicated manner. Nice to see in a company principal.

It's multi section, held together by screws from the outside. Big changes.

There's also a slightly longer (5mm?) version for EL (two batteries for higher voltage) although I'm told the new spring (nice Beryllium Copper unit BTW) has enough compliance to allow this in the shorter version I have. But mine is a tiny bit shorter when stood against Nates.

Does the Luna have another strap connecting the batteries (like a Cera) or just use the body of the Luna to achieve the same thing?

Darb,

Great Scott!
OF when I send in my cera gear, I'll tell them I won't accept a damn thing in return if I don't have the OF golden seal of approval stamped on the box :D

I wish I lived close by, I'd stop in say hi and hand delivery my carts and cera.

I'm still waiting to see if anyone reports success with the luna and the LL. I doubt it'll be a good match, but now the LL on the persei body...oh my!

No strap, IMO none needed, the tube is (overly thick) Stainless Steel and quite solid. While SS is a poorer conductor than copper, the added cross section more than makes up for it. My quick 'back of the envelope' numbers say that while the SS has about three time the resistivity (1.45 against .58) it has about 60 times more cross section (12 times thicker, 6 times wider) than the copper strap.

http://chemistry.about.com/od/molec...f-Electrical-Resistivity-And-Conductivity.htm

It should be a net gain and I seriously doubt you could measure a copper strap welded in parallel on a bet.

Not the duty I craved when I was young for sure, but glad to help out if I can.

As I said before, a TV visit is worth the effort IMO and this sounds like a great excuse in the making.

Once I get familiar with it I intend to try a LL core run or three, but I too have little hopes here. I think, just like with T1, the body will rapidly heat up making longer sessions painful?

To be 100% honest I think I like the T1 design better than anything else out so far (assuming the luna does NOT work with LL well).

Yeah the T1 was hot, but so is the cera lmao. I've got some burns from the cera too. The top gets HOT even with the condom tip thing. I'm still of the opinion that a T1 designed to fit the 18650 AND the LL cart, would be the best of all worlds.

Looking great! How do you like the button?

Is there really any reason for the external o-rings on the luna? Seems unnecessary other than aesthetics. You could always jazz up your Luna with different colored o rings. How about some glow in the dark rings, or something that complements the sleeve.

For the Cera, I can't wait to send in my unit to get refurbished with the new switch and core parts. I wonder if they're going to be removing the switch assembly all together and replacing it with a shorter screw cap for battery access, like the Luna.

Those o rings are for the sweet Cera mouthpiece. I myself like the ceramic better then the plastic tip. Then would it be called the Ceralune? Or the Lunacer?? Plus what thread?!??!!:worms:

The rings are not needed unless you wanna get weird like this.

As far as the switch is concerned, it is conveniently located and feels solid. this being said, I'm not feeling the safety clip that TET provided. I think I'm gonna have to make something better. Overall i much prefer the design of the Luna. It is much smaller and lighter than the cera. It has to be more durable too.

so far she is running like a champ. I put some canna nectar co2 oil in there. I'm planning on feeding her nothing but co2 extracts and some occasional pure gold. when i had my cera (before usps stole it) i always felt that running BHO was inefficient and would taste pretty burned after a couple sessions. im hesitant to put any in there this time. my BHO is good, its rumpwax platinum nugrun. very clean stuff. do you guys think i should reconsider my position on BHO in th EO core?

If you are able to be happy with somewhat lesser quality, you can get exactly what you want. There's a Chinese T1 handle knockoff that takes an 18650 and has a 510 connector on the top. A real T1 LL core will screw into that. Of course, you'll have to have one of the LV T1 cores for this to work, and they're rare as hen's teeth. (Where did that come from?)

Interesting, but I want my cake and to eat it too haha. I want the t1 handle, 18650, and the new CERA LL core. The new core is really tasty and the easiest vape to clean that I know of.

Aside from holding the ceramic cap and MP (I really prefer it usually) on (despite the funny looks) another solid reason for the rings is to give you something to grab onto I think. They're easy enough to take off and put on but on Cera I find I leave the upper two on even with the drip tip.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough before, but yes the rebuild includes the new (shorter) tail cap with no switch. Otherwise you'd still have to press the bottom button as well as the side one. If you ever take the switch back out (or have a second Cera to mix in) you have to be very careful not to put the short cap on the switchless Cera or you'll have a runaway to deal with.

I believe you send just the tube (and maybe cart) in, keeping the old switched tail cap. It comes back fully functional (short a battery). You end up with two caps.

Hey all,
I was on the TET website this morning and I noticed that there has been an update to pay for a rebuild of your old cart when purchasing the new luna body.....in the summary below it states that:
"Any oil or liquid cartridge purchased before the Luna will require a rebuild in order to correctly fit with the Luna vaporizer body"
Does anyone know if that means once they are converted to fit the luna body properly they will no longer work as intended in the cera body?

Perfect time to be on my last bit of oil til harvest next month

Edit: it's my understanding that the top o-ring is also used as a sort of wpa by making a seal in glass 18mm female gg joints.

In the confusing way this thing has been split up, I just answered this (I think correctly) 'over there':
Thermovape Cera

Basically it's to be sure the core is the correct length.
