Odour / Odor solutions while vaping?

Can anyone recommend a natural means of neutralising the odour / odor (double spelled to cover UK vs USA searches/spelling, lol)?

My mate gave me some Ona to use which he said worked back when he grew, however I have problems with my eyes and that made them really bloodshot/tear-y. I had pretty good masking/neutralising results using aromatherapy oils on a burner (heat from candle supplied to a stone bowl with oils) however it again resulted in eye problems.

So, any advice? I'm thinking of trying pot pourri(!) next. The smell is strong when vaping however even when I crumble quality buds before vaping, it can stink out my room.

The eye situation is pretty bad, it's one of the reasons I try to vape once a day to get a break from the eye pain and stop it spreading to the head into an 'eye-graine'. Synthetic solutions are more likely to aggravate given past experience.

Thanks

I was going to say essential oils or good incense but i see that is out of the question.

First of all, changing your method of vaping can minimize odours, meaning try to do rebreathing until no visible vapor comes out.

You can also buy one of those things used for combusting to neutralize the smell.

Or perhaps just a tube with a ona filter where you could blow the vapor would do the trick?

I wonder (because I don't know) if you really chilled your bud prior to breaking it up and making it vape ready, if that would at least help the pre-vape odor? I'd give it a try, but nothing I have is stinky. I wish it was! Usually means it's good herb, unless the cat has used it as a restroom.

Not sure if chilling would help the smell, but be careful if freezing the product! Believe it's possible to freeze them Trichomes right off.... :ugh:

Pregrind your materiel. If possible, grind in a smaller room that is easily exhausted.

Negative room pressure. Do you have a window? An exhaust fan will do wonders.

If that is not an option, your next best bet is carbon filtering. Blow though one or by using a fan to pull air through activated carbon, pulling out the bad odors.

A more expensive option, air ionizer.

the ionizer has a hidden bonus too! use it long enough while vaping and you'll be able to crawl up the wall of your vape room like this guy....

(Sticky Walls!)

I know smokers who used them and I can't even describe the walls of their smoking rooms... except one lick and it would be nicotine overdose!

I used to smoke tobacco. I had a very small, single room in a college dorm, and I used an ionizer. Even though I taped butcher paper on the walls, they had to repaint it after I left. An ionizer really does mess up walls. But then again, if you smoke as much dope as I did tobacco, you would never be able to leave the room: you'd be so fucking wasted. Of course, I smoked dope there, too, just not 40 dubes a day.

In another dorm room I lived in, I used a clear hose to vent single hits to the outside world through a window in front of my desk. I rarely smoked doobies: too wasteful. I've always used one hitters in my youth, even today.

do you know if there is actually smell to cover? especially since you vape once a day.

my current living situations is comparable to dorms I think(in my country we have a different system, so I don't know the situation in dorms exactly, but I also live in a building where only students are allowed to live, untill 6 months after graduating I think, but it's not owned by the university itself, and it's 15 minutes by bike from the campus), and I vape in my room all day, so far I haven't had any complaints(or even remarks) about smell.

Thanks everyone for the useful ideas. To be honest I wouldn't mind finding a uniform solution which could help with not only cannabis related odour but even the odd residual aroma which hangs in the air after cooking/meal. Usually not bothered, however sometimes (for whatever reason) it seems to affect the quality of my sleep. Will try some of the ideas out and see how I get on.

WRT to whether there actually is any smell since I usually stick to vaping once a day or less, you could be right I suppose. However in the past I've had friends pick up on the smell that they'd called round mid-session. Then again, they were also vaporizer users so I suppose they might be more likely to pick up on it.

Cheers

Regarding vape smell, i find it is something real and not a figment of imagination. I used to think it was marginal but if you fog your room regularly, the terpenes will stick to the walls and there will be a faint smell lingering that some with better noses or better knowledge will pick up more quickly.

I think that opening a window does wonders, and some incense will clear any faint hint of cannabis odour.

I saw a thread somewhere at FC lately where someone posted a pvc pipe with some activated carbon inside and you just blew the cloud in there and the carbon neutralizes the odour. Just regular PVC pipe and pipe parts that you can find in a hardware store.

Saw that posting too. Searching titles for the word "Sploof" should bring forth the thread.

Was just thinking one of the most powerful scents I know is an incense made from the Champa flower.

Satya-Sai-Baba-Nag-Champa-Incense.jpg

One stick will burn for a good 45 minutes. The wooden stick part is really thin. The fragrance is very calming and not offending like most incense.

Get a package of cookies. Place one or two in the oven at a low temperature. The place will be infused with the great smell of cookies. No one who visited me commented on any smell other than the scent of fresh-baked cookies.

I like burning beeswax candles. They have a certain smell that is quite nice.

FYI, do not burn paraffin candles (those cheap wax ones you find everywhere) or even soy candles, since soy candles are not usually 100% pure, in my experience. Even just heating them isn't good.

Word of caution: many items designed to make your home smell good have a lot of bad crap in them. Bad for you and bad for the environment. Research the ingredients if you have the time!

I won't even use those tree-shaped car fresheners anymore! :disgust:

Vape outside as much as possible, in your situation. Obvious, I know, but something to remember. :)

My friend commented the other day that my place smelled a bit "danky." And I hadn't vaped there in almost a day and had a couple windows open. I'll be taking my station fully outside ASAP!

I found that if I start low and increase temperature slowly (I have a Solo so I just start on 2, and go slowly trough the range and end on 7), there is pretty much no smell. The biggest source of the smell is the minute or so before it's heated up fully, and if I draw on it during this, I won't get much vapor but I will be able to keep smell at almost nothing.Another technique I found good was pre-heating the solo at 7 (with the stem, not loaded), when it's hot I take out the stem, fill it up and pop it right back in the solo and start hitting it right away, very slowly. The theory behind this would be that most the smell is being produced at lower temperature than vaporization, and when i draw on it continually while the material heats up, all this smell goes into me instead of my surroundings. Works very very well.

I hate any incense, who wants to burn bullshit after vaping high grade flowers?

If you were burning incense in your house and wanted me to come in and get a free pound of skunk and vape with you I would go but I would ask you to put the incense out.... I hate incense.... It got to be carcinogenis... meh ... it smells I hate it

a fan can bring in fresh air.

I like this natural orange spray I got at walmart that is 100% natural made of orange peels and orange oils

I used to think the Solo didn't make much of a smell in the car but the fucking cop that pulled me over did not agree.......Luckily I am a slick talker at times at let just say I did not leave in handcuffs and the company vehicle was not impounded = I still won, fucking pig

I like this option, small scale rhino filter and extraction fan like those used for growing.

Alternatively, look into a Solder Fume Extractor.

For stealth, you could create your own vapestation with built-in extraction, maybe convert & outfit a small writing desk for the purpose, so when not vaping it just looks like or even can still be used as a desk.
