Just came across my first d9 device... Friend of a friend had a persei he didnt like at all that he paid 300 for at a brick and mortar store. His dissatisfaction with the product stemmed from not understanding the battery configuration/cart resistance, so he never got anything but weak vapor. Got a couple tenergy rechargeable cr123s and unit works amazing!!! Im sure the batteries d9 recommends would work longer, but at 2 day consistent run time with huge clouds is more than satisfactory. My question is, with the cr123 setup, am i safe dropping down to a 2.4 ohm cart? i dont wanna blow up the batteries/burn out a fresh cart. im also planning to grab an sr 74 as long as i can get some legitimate feedback on how well herbs work, and can you combine flower AND oil in the herc and get legitimate vapor? IVe scoured online sources and videos, and im not sold on it yet. I want to be, but im not seeing enough. The bender IS an option, but..... id rather have it all in one.

What is the serial number on it?

it is 4224... Dont know exactly how old it is... long enough to where he had lost the battery charger and the tool to move the negative battery post on bottom... still got original box and everything else though.

Great Scott!
I'm getting my old persei back. Just the unit itself, no carts or any extras. Trying to figure out what else I'm going to need. The plan is to buy a SR71 (or 74 if those are out) and use it with that.

Will the regular size persei unit and the 18650s from my thermovape cera work? How about the charger that came with my cera? I was planning on getting the 3.7v herc...I think.

This vape is cool just really confusing if you don't keep up with all the changes constantly. I want to make sure I have everything I'm going to need to use it.

Guess someone is gonna redo their signature.

Glad your back on board.

Not sure on what tet uses as far as battery but our devices we recommend AW IMR, i think @OF can answer that better then me.

The charger should work no worries.

As far as being scary because we come out with new stuff so fast, look at it this way. We keep improving our devices on a constant basis because we listen. While other companies take years to listen we are more fluid on our improvements.

Plus my brains full of ideas i keep putting into production.

Yeah I'm not saying its bad that you keep adding new products, just daunting when you are way behind.

So maybe I want the SS kit, but I'll have to think about that. Does the Herc work with one 18650? Assuming it is a correct 18650?

I had ordered some ti coils. That's why it didn't ship. Wish I had known sooner!!!! Anyways, I sent them the money for extra shipping last night so hopefully it will ship out today!!!

Also have a g of vac purged (26 hours in a heated chamber, ataxian would be proud!) of honeycomb I ordered.

The Herc 3.7v works but there is a small learning curve. @Mynameismud is the resident 3.7v king as he is able to get clouds on 3.7v.

The Herc 3.7v works with one 18650 or one 18350 on 3.7v mode with a SS tube.

Just bought my old persei back. I'm getting the persei with double top, the stealth tube with single top, 2 AW IMRs, a battery adjuster and a kiss cart for now. Should hold me for a while as I do a lot of reading to try to catch up. Might as well wait for the SR74 to be ready instead of the SR71 since I'll need to save up a bit for it.

The SR 74's are already out, but glad you got what looks like two units.

the sr-74 is the only item on the order. I checked on your website to be sure. I sent some messages through the site, but no reply.

I remember something about spare washers but I couldn't find it on the order details. I definitely dont care about those. I just want my vape!! one of my 71s is catastrophically busted and I only have 7.4 v. I like 3.7.

The momentum is finally on our side. Carpe diem!
can anyone suggest me good screen filter to poor my iso bath through to filter out junk?

Check scientific supply or homes schooling websites. With all the anti-science rage among fundamental Christians these days over evolution, home schooling has been on the rise. Would be surprised about the lab equipment you can order to your home nowadays.

I have a question of my own. I've read on here that you should NOT use isopropyl alcohol to wash out standard cartridges. Why? Seems like soaking in 99% alcohol and then drying completely would be good for them rather than bad. Only caveat I can see is if you didn't dry it out completely, and there was alcohol still in the cartridge, it could explode.

Yup, any of the 'factory Cera batteries' and/or their charger should be excellent choices. For basically the same reasons.

Its here!

Here is a side by side shot of the original iteration of the 2.0-ohm@3.7v KISS (left), and the new 1.0-ohm@3.7v GR2 Ti KISS (right):

g69w.jpg

As you can see, the tip of the MP is slightly different, leading to a shorter overall profile. I cant say I'm bothered by this in the slightest. Also, it appears that the cone portion of the new cart is denser and/or thicker than the older (updated, not original) MP. Again, I cant say I am bothered by this either.

Aside from that, you will notice that UP Tech is now labeling the voltage on the outside of the carts. A good common sense safety measure to be sure, especially if you have both the 3.7 and 7.4v carts!

Here's an overhead shot of the exposed heater. Note how many loops the coil makes on this version:

dg2p.jpg

I also notice that the wick appears to be more porous than the old version from what I remember (although as you can see in the picture I cant really compare!). This is somewhat confirmed by watching how small dabs of super clear concentrate (seriously, I used Clear Concentrates.... clear concentrate) gets soaked into the wick after heating. It absorbed quite a bit IMO, and this is something you may want to take into account? Perhaps after more people use these we can determine if any "priming" is beneficial?

Also, for sure the wick/coil has been lowered so that it sits closer to the air hole underneath (and thus the bottom of the ceramic cup).

Now for an action shot!

uuy3.jpg

You might see here that only the top 3 loops really heat up, and out of those 3, the center is by far the hottest. Not sure why this is, however it remained as such until the auto timer cut the power. In any case, I suggest new users do this for two reasons; First, you get to see where the "hot spot" is. I would imagine this is probably where you want to load most of your concentrate. Secondly, I did see a tiny puff of grey smoke come off the coils and/or wick as soon as I hit the power. Nothing major to be sure, however I'm glad I didn't load a dab on there right off the bat.

...speaking of which, here is a dab of that Clear Concentrate I was referencing earlier in the post:

Aww... look how pretty! All loaded up and ready to go.

So what now then?

Generally because materials used (typically seals) aren't up to it. ISO is serious stuff, folks tend to forget that I think? It's a powerful solvent in it's own right and can degrade other materials. I suggest following the instructions, meaning no ISO at all unless the maker says so. Even exterior wipe downs should be questioned.

Same for boiling, just because one maker says it's OK doesn't mean you should use it on another vape without checking.

I guess that's just it. If it's kosher to soak/clean KISS carts, and the hercules, what's the material in the standard carts that can't handle ISO? I thought it was constructed of the same materials, so what's the difference? I agree, following the instructions is always good advice, but I've always been the type to only follow rules that make sense to me. If what's in the standard cartridges isn't stable enough for a soak in alcohol, I have doubts it's stable enough for me to heat and inhale vapors from either.
