I love my MFLB. So much so that I bought a backup also; turned out to be a great decision, since the screen on my first decided to peel off the rails. Warranty replacement in the mail! What an awesome company.

Recently got the PA also, and I'm having some issues finding my ideal settings. I'm combusting every 3rd trench, and still haven't gone above 50% power. Could be my technique, could be my box is hot, could be the PA itself... any suggestions on how to nail down what it might be?

EDIT: have another question. Often, a thin layer of my herb gets stuck to the screen, and refuses to dislodge without either a forceful knock against a stationary item (desk), or direct contact (stir rod). I don't like opening the cover or scraping the screen with a metal rod, so I've been knocking it against my desk. Could I be doing harm to the device?
Or does my answer lay in the root cause, the stickiness. Is my herb sticking because it's still too wet?

It doesn't matter whether the LB or the PA is hot, just keep turning the PA down until you're happy. It does sound as if one or both are running a bit hot. How does the LB behave when you use a battery?

Don't scrape the screen with anything metal. I'd use the LB brush or, more often, knock it against the desk the way you're doing. It's not likely to do much harm. Drier herb is better but the stickiness is probably due to having a lot of trichomes, which of course is a Good Thing.

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
Please try cleaning your box.
Use Iso on a Qtip... and without getting anything really wet, rub the two rods, well, and wipe them off with dry qtip.
Be sure they do not have an appearance of 'fuzziness"... that would be residues depposited on the rods, and that causes the symptoms you speak of....
Hot battery implies battery is at least functioing, but dirty rods can prevent appropriate conduction throughout entire screen. Try it.. it can't hurt.

Thanks for the tip!! Cleaned my rails and improved the boxes performance noticeably.

Why do I get a almost resin like build up on my lid when using concentrates? I'm new to wax if that helps.

Thanks for the tips! With a glyph battery, I've still accidently combusted, but it's getting much rarer. I 'borrowed' a trench worth of crappy herb from a buddy to try the temp test from Vaporpedia, and the ABV wound up fully black after 2 minutes, so I believe that means my box is running quite hot (but it didn't combust).

Also, hurrah for Good Things!

Two Stem Questions:

1) Does anyone know the precise diameter (od) of the MFLB glass stem ?
I'm eyeballing it at 6 mm. Thinking about having a glass blower make a 4"
long stem that could double as a drinking straw for things like margaritas.

2) If you drank through a well used stem, could you get effects from the
built up residue ? Would it work drinking anything, or only for hot liquids ?

Thanks...

You're not using wax in a standard box are you? Or do you mean the Maud Dib?
Sorry I should have been more descriptive.

I'm using crumble on the screened concentrate tray. I put my PA to around 80-100% then I use my water pipe with a whip to draw. I just seem to always get this nasty sticky mess on the bottom of my lid around the trench. When I switch back to herb I get a lot stuck to the lid. I cleaned it today with ISO and it comes off with a lot of scrubbing.

I agree completely. Mini shovels should be (created or) included with the MFLB for smacking faces and packing trenches :brow: @magicflight

Sure, I'm using kief, but I just did four hits with my PA (40%) + WPW (never thought I would use it when I won it) and I know when I decide to continue I am asking for too much pleasure. Its crazy how I can feel higher from 4 hits from this in comparison to the 4 hits from my UD.

My only gripe is that I feel my MFLB doesn't taste very great anymore, but I have had it for 3 years and don't see myself letting it go.

It's from when your crumbles , bubble up and pops .
Bursts of mini splashes hits your lid and resins remain .

Ya , I use iso and a pair of tweezers to help scrape most of it off
first , then the q-tip . It's stuck on there good .

Thanks for the explanation! I'm going to try the tweezers and see how it works.

Lots of vapourizers have threads of their own. ;) I think you might be stretching it a bit when you say people put the LB in the same league with the Volcano, but I get your point. Perhaps the aspect of the MFLB that I admire most is the elegance and simplicity of its design, but that came after I bought one. I got it because I wanted a portable, the price was excellent, and it had the most remarkable warranty I've ever seen. I think those things appeal to a lot of people.

The LB is small and stealthy, and does its job well if you learn how to use it. It's a power-on-demand device, meaning that it only heats when you are taking a hit. That's a huge plus for me. It has great flavour, although it isn't pure. The LB adds its own slightly woody taste to a hit, which I find pleasant. I can extract everything out of a load with the LB, and it doesn't need a large load so it helps stretch my stash.

Some people see one or more of those points as detriments. If you need a quick, large hit, the LB probably isn't for you. Not everyone is willing to accept the minor flavour that the LB adds. There are those who cannot or can't be bothered to learn a good technique. On the other hand, every head shop I've visited in the past few years has told me that the LB is by far the best selling vapourizer, and they get few complaints. I don't know if I've answered your question, though. I think you probably need to try one for yourself.

Honestly, I had a digital volcano during my time as a caretaker and I have an entirely different sincere passion for the LB placing it in it's own league separate from the Volcano. Having used the lunch box for 2 weeks, I would have to say I like the lunchbox more for many of the reasons listed above.

The LB is an elite pocket vaporizing machine, and when mastered, will produce massive vapor clouds larger than most other vaporizers both portable and desktop.

Just my two cents.

Huh? While I can get the LB to produce some clouds, I would hardly call them massive by any stretch, at least when using batteries. I've never used it with the PA though.

Do others concur with what meek here is saying? When he puts "massive vapor clouds" in the same sentence as "an elite pocket vaporizing machine", I'm assuming he's using it with batts. If that's the case, I don't know how that claim of "larger clouds than most other desktop vapes" could hold any water.

Yes. I can blow big clouds with the LB using batteries. As can others. I am pretty sure with the pa I could blow clouds comparable to my LSV. It does require much more effort than a desktop unit to reach Cloudom and as such if I am desiring clouds I usually reach for another unit. But it is possible.

@Vitolo Used to have some nice cloud vids but they are all private or no longer exist in youtube. At least I couldn't find them. :)

EDIT: ACTUALLY NO. I don't think the MFLB can blow clouds as big as the LSV even with the pa. I would say the Cloud, Sub, Herbalizer probably all produce bigger clouds as well.

What it can do is produce clouds enough to get me high in less than 3 hits. That is still better than half the desktop units out there. All priced at at least twice the money. I guess that's good enough for me.

I'm eyeballing it at 6 mm.

It's made in the US, therefore has SAE sized parts. The OD is 1/4 inch, not a metric size.

deadheadbill, you are correct. They are on private now, by request of my family.
Being one of the Hub cities in an MMJ state that is still only in the middle of it's 3rd year, still has people VERY actively involved and watching instructional videos...
The extra attention locally in my life was not desirable.
I "woke up" an older video today, and left it off channel (unlisted) but still viewable here.

Maybe that is what it is... from not medicated to medicated in less time than the rest?

Sure, I have to nurse my trench along to ensure even vapor, which is more "labor intensive," but that part kind of adds to the experience for me.

Hope you are doing good. Wow you've got quite an extensive collection of vapes Vito! Besides the MFLB, what's your favorite portable and plug-in? Thanks, and sorry if this goes in a different section.

I have a feeling that question should be in the vapor lounge.
I have a "niche' for each portable I own, and so it is hard to pick a favorite. The MFLB sure has many applications in which it is my favorite portable to use!

Thanks OF.
Looks like 6 mm will be a tad loose. Bummer.

Wow 3 years... Mine is not even 1 year old and I'm in the warranty process, I think I fucked up for using herbs that aren't very dry... The thing is... Some "resin" was accumulating under it trench, making it flavor different and it felt a bit clogged

http://i.imgur.com/NEl79g1.jpg

MFLB responded me:
"One thing we have learned over time is that continual usage of material that is too wet (not dried completely) will tend to cause a buildup under the screen over time. We know this from examining warranty returns, etc. If the material has dampness, then the water vapor will condense, causing condensation of other things as well — particularly the terpenes (which causes smell). It is also best to fully dry your material before grinding — you will get a much higher quality of grind as well."
