Fully Purged?

You can find those blades and a holder in about any hardware store in the painting area. Lowes, Menards, Home Depot carry them as well. Probably Wal-Mart too.

As for the razor blades, where can I get the rectangular ones and a holder like this one?http://espimages.biz/2386/I/47/AK5227.jpg

Any hardware store, and some craft stores will have the razors and holder you mentioned. Or, you can get this razor blade scraper from Amazon, and this pack of 100 rectangular blades to fit it. I didn't realize until now, these are both the same brand of product, there's plenty of other brands of blades and different styles of scrapers to choose from. Just be sure to wipe off your blades before you use them, i believe many of them have residual lubricant on them from the manufacturing process.

Cheers.

If the batches I run are with either eighths or quarters, what a hot water bath be enough of a purge? I've been just doing that, scrape onto blades, pop them in the freezer for 5-8 minutes, then scrape the oil off the blades into my stok container, and that's it. Keep in mind I leave a little 99% iso in the dish I blow the tane into, but I might start using ever clear. I've heard its safer to vape, if there is any left in the oil.

Just did a run today. Ran 7 grams of sour diesel and got .97 grams in return. Heat only, no vac. Used an oil slick on a hot pad. I didn't have a thermometer so the plate got a little hot for a sec, but it still tastes great and hits nice. In the pic with the light, the 2 cloudy parts are from the shatter I had before this batch sitting under the new stuff.

That looks pretty nice hahaha. I don't have a day or two to purge hahaha. I guess that's partially why I'll only run a quarter ounce at a time. Maybe a half. Plus, I don't like having one strain for too long.

It literally needs to sit at room temp for a day or two and it purges itself I like to call it curing lol

Just to add in another helpful tip, take advantage of the maximum surface area of your purging vessel (pyrex plate in my case). Too many times I see people do there own experiments where they blast, place in the water bath or hot plate, and then simply watch and do nothing to aid in the proper spreading of the material as it slowly thickens from a water consistency to a more solid goo. Odds are pretty good that whatever surface you are using is not 100% level, and if you have it floating in water it only gets worse. As the butane evaporates in my dish I easily and steadily rock the contents in the Pyrex to ensure the most even dispersion of the oil, so that there aren't pooled up areas. If you have pools in your dish it's only naturaul that some spots are going to be overcooked as where other areas may retain butane if their much thicker. Of course if you have a vacuum, none of that matters as much as without it. And if your still interested in removing all the air bubbles at that point, it can be done easily by swapping the Pyrex between the freezer to the hot water in five minute intervals. The more stubborn bubbles that don't melt you can pop with your finger after you take it out of the freezer and it won't stick to your fingers ;)

I do very small runs. Depending on the temperature outside, it typically purges fully in the Pyrex within 45 minutes. I only get 1-1.3 grams of oil each run, and that will last me about 2 weeks. I have noticed the smell of the oil change over the past few days. It has become a lot more shatter like in that you can snap a dab off with the dabber. Also should I whip it up once it's on the oil slick? I feel like that doesn't do anything but add air to make it look like more? I like having the oil in a small, single piece that I can put in my oil slick container.

Would this container be better to keep my bho in than parchment paper? I just picked this thig up today.

I keep all my wax and oil in those they work good (: I've kept stuff in there for weeks seemed as potent as when I first put it in, and no need to whip after its done

Cool. I think I'm going to order a real oil slick container online. Should I get the ball or the normal one? Transferring the oil from the parchment to container was kind of the pain. The oil was too sticky. I stuck it in the freezer for a minute but would quickly warm back up.

Just transfer from Pyrex to your slick container that's what I do. I would stick to the original flat container rather then the ball if you plan on keeping it in your pocket, much less likely to pop open, not that mine ever has when I didn't want it to lol

So not even onto my oil slick mini duo sheet? And I don't like that my container is black. Makes the oil look really dark hahaha

The only reason I can think of to put it on a sheet rather then in the container is if im vacuuming it, otherwise it's an unnecessary step that will more then likely result in a loss of material, no matter how small, no one wants to waste goodies.

So I'm going to be doing another run soon, and was thinking of getting an eighth of one strain, and an eighth of another, and running both at the same time, in the same tube. Is this a good or bad thing? Anyone have any experience with this?

If it's not trim I would do two separate runs. It may be a bit more work, but you will be rewarded with two extracts with different cannabinoid and terpenoid profiles that will provide different effects and flavors.

You might just want the effect of one over the other at some point. You can always make a mixed dab out of the two types, but you can't unmix them if you blast them together. :2c:

If it's trim I would just mix it, you might get a nice flavor mix, you might also get no flavor or a horrible flavor. That's the trim game IME. Not worth the extra time to make separate runs in that instance.

It's not trim. Going to use some dank buds hahaha. So I should do 2, eighth runs?
