Discontinued The Sublimator

I am surprised people would be so willing so shell out 290$ just to get a digital box w/ lights and an unproven microphone connector.... doesn't seem like much improvement to me...... Am I missing something?

especially when all the Sublimator owners here on FC seem to all ready have a watt meter hooked to there Sub that is better than the new control box w/ lights and a monkey face....

I love my Sublimator!

When they say a Vaporizer will let you use less weed, I had not thought it was true until the Sublimator. I use less weed and the taste is so much better than I ever did with my other vapes....

Best present ever thanks Dad! @Paul 8888

Check out this used Sub I found on Ebay ! Only 8 hours left offer them 250$ - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sublimator-Vaporizer-/271376728290?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f2f5040e2

No one is making anyone buy one, or forcing anyone to upgrade. You seem to love your original sublimator.. (awesome.. me too!) And yours works without issues, and the nice lady said that they are STILL replacing units that fail.. what else could a company do and remain profitable? Freebies are nice but they aren't practical.

I bought a vape from a very well known company here. They told me I was SOL when their manufacturer screwed them over. I had a year on a valid warranty. I was offered NOTHING. Except to pay MORE $$ just to get a working unit. I now have that unit.. but if you add up all that I payed, I am over $1000 for one vape. That entire situation was a lesson learned for me.

IMHO Sublimator hasn't violated me as a customer. They have a product that I very much enjoy and offered a upgrade to a more polished unit. I took it. The weight of that dollar amount might bother some people, but it won't bother others.. very simple.. OR someone might consider this to be a very important part of their life. I guess it comes down to individual value. I am paying about the same EXTRA as what I did for that other company. EXCEPT FOR THE FACT: that my unit still works, and is warrantable for free if it didn't work.

They have made obvious design improvements, their XLR connection is new, but welcome.. its nothing to be worried about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XLR_connector

I think it may be time for someone at Sublimator to start a new thread only about the XLR. The EVO got its own thread after the Cloud.. (is this off topic??)

If they can't budge on the price, I think the no downtime deal is an improvement. I'll probably end up going that route but I'm going to wait until the titanium apollo is available.

And that's also great news about the moon tool, it's good to see them keep their promise to send out a free one to everyone who bought a Sublimator.

I wonder if "any sublimator heating device" includes campfire/ufo devices

:hmm:
I told you guys that resale value would plummet on these. My scissors handle is completely broken now from whacking on my buzzing piece of crap apollo heater controller box. So I have resorted to a small ball-pin hammer to whack it now. The good news is the parts are finally all on their way now to make my own controller box. Fuck And now we're asked to put out even more money for this upgrade crap! (edit). If I can't get my box to work right it will be the buzz or the ufo.

I've even got a plan to make my own reclaim upgrade for the launchtube downstem!

Just think if Sublimator had stood by all its early adopters,
how different the tone of this thread would be.

I think the controll box is just a dimmer switch for bathroom lighting combined with a bathroom light timer... The timer is making the buzzing noise correct?

Dosen't this look familiar-

http://www.amazon.com/Leviton-LTB30-1LZ-Incandescent-Resistive-Inductive-5-10-15-30/dp/B002WTC91K/ref=sr_1_23?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1390749067&sr=1-23&keywords=wall light switch timer

It is just like one of those, and they would probly be an easy fix..

or this one has a longer 60 min timer-

http://www.amazon.com/Maxxima-Watt-Button-Timer-Switch/dp/B0046CF9IQ/ref=sr_1_12?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1390749067&sr=1-12&keywords=wall light switch timer

Something like these would be cheap and no timer at all-

http://www.lbclighting.com/tt-300nlh.html#2?utm_source=nextag&utm_medium=shoppingengine

These should work fine... If mine ever starts buzzing it is getting cut out......

Edit OK I just looked at the back of the controll boxx...... 4 simple philips screws hold the back on.... please just take yours off and take some pictures ... I'm busy getting stoned or I'd do it.... If your in the Bay area and want to pack me some bowls come on over and we will fix yours today... Home Depot or Lowes aught to have the parts we need!

Hadn't seen this one before,
it looks like It could be a simpler solution than what I'm working on.

Thanks for posting it, @Detonator!

I took off the bottom panel and have confirmed that the timer is indeed the leviton that you linked to.
Read the comments on it, the 1st discussion is telling.

Unfortunately the box isn't really serviceable. I haven't confirmed the dimmer component because it's filled with hot glue. The dimmer is hardwired to the apollo, but the timer is easily by-passable and just connected with wire nuts. Supposedly hot glue is defeatable but I haven't bothered with it yet.

I do have a minor concern that there is a resistor hidden in there somewhere.

My box is going to be ready in a week or two hopefully.
The xlr part will require soldering,
that's the hardest part but I'm pretty good at it if I can find the stuff ok.

Glad you like it I discussed it with @Paul 8888 and the one he described I think was that one
31%2BQFc7WUPL.jpg

And if it was plugged into a watt meter so we know exactly watt it is set at.....

then plugged into a timer like this or simpler - http://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-DT620-Indoor-Digital-Plug-In/dp/B004TGO6RY/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1390769508&sr=8-11&keywords=plug timers

you could set the timer to be a wake and bake perfectly set machine. And set it to come back on before you get home from work...

and fuck the 1 hour timer for 22$ and free shipping you can have a good timer........

and yes here is the a review of the timer given by one guy . It describes the buzzing... Since this is a heater and it power goes on and off to keep it at set temp that is probly what is causing the buzz... That is what I get out of it .. Any real electrictrians out there?

I too have these units installed, 2 in fact. Both have exhibited a condition I would describe as "relay chatter", a condition where a relay coil is subjected to some condition unsuitable to hold the relay in the energized state. The relay will energize, fall out, energize again, fall out and so on. In this case it can be described as a buzzing" noise. It should also be noted that when buzzing it is likely that the power going to the load may not be sufficient and could cause damage to the load, in my case bathroom exhaust fans. One of the units now operates correctly ("cured" itself I guess), the other has been replaced. The LTB30 is a product that needs manufacturer attention to correct.

For the timer I'll just be going with a countdown model,
$(KGrHqIOKpMFIJv(N8KvBSFcP0ZE7w~~60_3.JPG

by-passable and plugged right into the watt meter.

Does anyone know what the ohmage of the heater in the sublimator is? It would make identifying possible power box solutions easier.

The new version it seems better and easier to use.

I'm testing the Sublimator UFO, I like it, I've could vaporize all kind of substances, the Sputnik imitates very well the original Sublimator

Nice videos, in that first one it looks like your vaping a pencil.

For dabbing are you only torching the antenna? Or are you doing a pre-heatup on the sputnik mass?

Nice rips NineDelta. I remember your crew from the Spain Sublimator videos. What's up with the color of the your bongwater? Have you tried taking a dry rip with your setup?

Are there multiple UFO models out?

For the people like me who don't understand, what is the meaning of no downtime? So I get this message. The new XLR Sub kit is 791 CAD ($751.32 w/o shipping incl) and we pay $847.77 in total ($557.77 to LA shipped for previous 1.0 + $290 for 2.0 upgrade (reimbursed $159 already)) with that said we have to send in our old units and we don't have a tube kit included? What? Makes no sense. And the improvement is also included in the new 2.0 kit so what's with that? C'mon, that's insane. Are we paying 290 for the new kit or just the heating element upgrade only?

Looks like RezBlock or cranberry extract, helps with keeping glass clean. There's a thread on RezBlock around here In the equipment or glass sub forum

Your paying 290 for the heating element upgrade. No launch tube kit is included. At least how I interpret it. 290 seems to be the wholesale price from what I've heard.

Another thing Sublimator has not addressed is potential import tariffs for people upgrading or purchasing from Sublimator.ca.

CG420, Did you have to do a RMA once?

I'm subbing right now. Let's rip.

No I haven't but note that the unit I received is still in working conditions. I have done RMA within CA with TV and it was successful. I am in fact still happy with my purchase nevertheless I just feel that the upgrade seems a little off. It would be nice to just throw in the tube kit with the upgrade. Oh well, there's no way of that happening as far as I can see. Thinking about this one. :hmm:

Thank's Mister G. You can heat only the antenna, but it's better if you heat the whole Sputnik and the atomizer, the vapor quality it seems better.

I used a glass pencil for dabs:D

Thank's Been Vapin, I've tried dry hits, better taste, the vapor is not too much dry, but I like water filtration, I'm accustomed to filter the vapor.
Quetzalcoatl answered you about water color, in that video I used a cranberries extract.

I know 2 UFO models, I've used the Sputnik in my videos, the model is like this: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-sublimator.9708/page-169#post-480717

I Believe the Sputnik is the ONLY one and the other was an older model right from enricos hands.
The UFO is my daily driver and has changed my Vaping experience. I feel it's a better choice running the torch if you only need a couple sessions a day. No use in waiting 10-15min instead of 2.

@NineDelta the second one you link from me is a proto lighter than real UFO, i exchanged it with @Enrico . @shredhead is right.

i watched your videos but it seems you take UFO and specially its nidlle like a Ti nail. The UFO for flowers needs the whole unit hot, especially the bigger central mass.

sub 1.0 is coming now, i am ready to discover automatic UFO hihi.

Hey guys,

I would like to know what wattage are you guys using for double deckers? I want to get it right but seem like 40 watts isn't enough to fully vaporize my dab. I also am afraid of going higher because my herbs will get burnt (go to black ABV basically) result in giving my atomizer a nasty taste eventually in which I would have to clean the atomizer all over again. Thanks!

Even at the ideal temp, you will get oil running into the bowl...that's the best you can do to avoid burning the herb. If I recall correctly, I was using between 40-45 watts for doubles.
