I tried dialing back of my button-pushing. Only preheated for 4 sec before 1st hit. No preheat after that. Only held button for 8 to 10 seconds max per hit. Extraction seemed much more even and I didn't get any charring at all. Still got clouds, but harder to notice during the hit. Overall, seems to perform really well without overdoing the button.

I think this might be the crux of the confusion for me in that the vapor is so cool I don't notice it "hitting" and thus think I'm not doing something right, but then I exhale a huge ploom and smile that I'm doing it just fine.

What is surprising me is how cool the vape is compared to the Pax and the MFLB. I am noticing less flavor then the Pax and I'm wondering if "baking" (conduction) your material adds some flavor??? If I take 2 tokes of fresh material in the Pax and 2 tokes of fresh material in the FF I definitely can say that the Pax gives off more scent and flavor than FF so far. I have tried 3 different strains in the FF so far. I can also say that the FF gives off virtually no scent and is much less smelly than the Pax.

Interesting. I couldn't tell it wasn't completely round...it looked round to me, but it's TINY and again my eyes suck (that old post-45 far-sightedness...:myday:). I guess I got lucky in that it seemed to be able to be coaxed back into its seam fairly easily.

I did notice this morning that a tiny section of it seemed not quite all the way in...holding the lid up to the light, I could see a section of the circular window looked straight and not perfectly round. A slight loosening of the screws and it fell back into place, and I was able to re-tighten the screws and have the gasket stay in the groove.
I was wearing these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0015IN8J6/ref=biss_dp_t_asn
jewelers glasses. Otherwise it would have been impossible for me:)

What I recall from using the pax was that after the first hit or three,
I was tasting the pax as much as I was tasting the herb.
With the firefly, all I taste is the herb.

Thank you for clarifying. That is very much akin to what my buddy said after trying them both. I'm hoping I'll dial in to the finer aspects of this vape from a flavor perspective.

Just reporting back...

Used it first time last night. WOW is all I am going to say. I am a first time vapor user and all I can say I had never ever tasted the herbs until I used the FF. The vapor was cool to the taste and just felt right.

Those of you still thinking about purchasing just go for it!!!!

The unit at first looks a good size to fit in your pocket, but believe me I have been carrying it around in my jeans for the past 2 days and I have no issue picking it up and walking out. It looks just like a cell phone and taking it out in public is no problem for me.

Looking forward to session #2 this eve.

@steama thx for all your vaping tips on this FF. I had a day to myself and i spent it playing with this bad boy. I went back and re-read all your tips and then started playing. I will admit there are many many ways to hit this vape many ways to load it. What works for me is steama's technique of hitting. As for loading it i use either a coarse grind or a finger grind. I get 4-5 good milky hits of real COOOOL vapor.

BTW my Vatra bag came in...thought it would have been bigger but i like it. it can hold my FF and my PnP and both sets of chargers with room for medicinals. I like the fact that it is hard shell in case of dropping it. my Vapes fit securely. Will post pictures soon...i am rather buzzed right now and about to enjoy a couple shots of Cognac to go with my FF....this damn thing reminds me of smokin a good Cuban Cigar and sipping a nice Cognac. will Fuck the Cigar...FF and Cognac FTW!!!

I hope you guys don't mind my fragmented comments here and there but I noticed something counterintuitive (actually me being a bit slow and a little special) using the unit last night. I found myself thinking that the glow meant that was applying heat and when the glow would go away it must be not necessary to keep drawing. In other words I was trying to sync my draw to the visual cue. This is only partly true and here is the minor adjustment that made all the difference for me:

Turn it on. Green light.
Hit heat button to pre-heat for 2-4 seconds. Glow.
Begin to draw while continuing to hold heat button down. Glow begins to fade to no glow. Let off the button but CONTINUE YOUR DRAW even though the glow fades because the chamber is still at optimal temperatures and this is where I really noticed the flavor and thickness of vapor. Wow! Simply wow. So much flavor. So instant it's mind bending.

Hope that helps!

Ok, in case anyone would like a visual material comparison between the Pax (left) and the FireFly (right). These are full loads for both units. Sorry I don't have a scale, but I'm guessing the FireFly loads about 1/2-2/3 that of the Pax.

I've only experienced the following and I'll put them in order of preference:

FireFly
PAX
MFLB
O.pen
MicroG
Monkey Pipe

I agree that all of them get the job done (medicated) but it seems that the FF and MFLB conserves the material best, IMO. It's funny because I think of the MFLB as Bruce Banner and the FF as The Hulk!

Quetzalcoatl

DEADY GUERRERO/DIRT COBAIN/GEORGE KUSH
Please correct me if I am wrong. I'm thinking that vaporizing plus convection plus FF equals maximum efficiency, maximum flavor and maximum medicinal potency available to date?
Hard to judge all that but most of us notice a "vape signature" with each vaporizer. Anyways, conduction pales in comparison to convection for taste.

Does anyone have a comparison link anywhere between the flashvape and this for flavor? And is the Solo flavor that much different as well between this?

I clean my Firefly everyday my friend.
I like to do this as well. It makes sure the vapor channels around the bowl are as open as they should be and it makes sure that residue on the lid and the base do not prevent a perfect seal. It also prevents material from coming back to your mouth. Of course I am saving every cue tip head for later extraction...
