How to get the "spark" back...?

**this question isn't related directly to vaporizers, but rather, to cannabis consumption in general**

Yes, this is a weed-related question, not a question better suited for a marriage counseling forum

Anyhow, I've been smoking regularly for roughly 7-8 months, and smoking daily for roughly 1-2 months. Recently I've been vaping (exclusively) in my apartment, as it's ridiculously cold and icy outside. Furthermore, the ONLY thing I currently have is a vape.

As of late, toking is still fun, but the same routine has been getting to me. I need something to spruce up my toking sessions. I realize that change of scenery and change of intake method are the best options, however, changing those things isn't possible right now. It's going to be icy and cold here for the next 1.5 months, so going out isn't ideal. And, as I said above, I only have a vape -- don't have another piece.

Once the seasons start to change and once I buy a new piece, I expect things to get better.

BUT... is there anything I can do in the interim to bring some "life" back into my vape sessions?

Hmm

Depending on your vaporizer (if the temp is adjustable),
you could try vaporizing non-cannabis herbs.

Replacing half your sessions with non-cannabis herb vaporization is going to lower your tolerance a lot,
so when you do vaporize cannabis, the effects are going to really stand out!

Make a concentrate with fresh herb to top bowls, reclaim solo stem resin, make some edibles, or dare I say smoke. Mixing it up definitely helps keep things fresh.

@SD_haze made a great suggestion as well

How often are you vaping?
Consuming less frequently always helps to bring that spark back for me.

I'm consuming on a daily basis, but I don't consider myself to be a "heavy" user, per se.

I'd say I have anywhere from 1-3 packs in my solo per day... rarely do I pack the stem to the brim, and I'm using the PVHES shorty, which has a shorter bowl... probably holds 0.15 - 0.20.

That in mind, if I average 3 packs a day, which is a slightly large estimate, that puts me at about 0.3 - 0.4 grams per day, give or take. Again, a slightly high estimate, but within the range...

SO... all that said, I'm not consuming a lot, it wouldn't seem. But it's getting dull, nonetheless.

I'll look into concentrates and other consumption methods, for sure.

If you can't afford to order some cheap glass online, make yourself something at home to use with the Solo. Like the old-school empty peanut butter jar water pipe many of us made in high school. Will let you suck down more at once, and also just the change will help. New glass usually punches through my tolerance, at least for a few days.

How would I go about making a glass piece out of a glass jar? I did a quick google search for glass pieces using peanut butter jars, and had no luck.

I gotta say that using water filtration through a bong/bubbler really makes vaping FUN! There's something about seeing the vapor form and the cooling that the water provides, is a real game changer. I used to use a MFLB, my first vape, and hooking it up to a homemade water pipe with a used water bottle was a blast! I than started playing around with different bottle shapes and different cuts/slits in the tubing and then starting buying proper bongs after that. Starting purchasing different vapes shortly after and the rest is history. I hear the solo is a great vape so maybe getting a nice piece if glass would put the icing on the cake for you!

My thoughts and approach to your query are different from my FC friends' posts above - I believe your boredom may be the result of a general non-specific condition, which is not necessarily specific to herb tolerance, portion, device, technique, or lack of interesting miscellaneous accessories such as glass water tools. The initial novelty of using a vape, (i.e., that found in the range of exploration & discovery one finds in the technical, performance, and efficiency aspects) can wear-off rather quickly for some, though never quite completely for most. This should not be taken as a defect or shortcoming in your choice of vaporizer or anything related. Yes! Eventually build your vape arsenal with fun new stuff, but in the meantime...not the answer to your question by far, IMO. You may be experiencing a void in your mental/emotional state that calls to be filled by something as yet undefined; but certainly cannot be filled solely by a novel new device and method. It is frigid outside, and you are confined to your living quarters much more than you'd like to be, I'd bet. Altering your mental state w/herb only goes so far for so long, no matter the device, dose/frequency, or technique. Get creative with your talents - explore new music, books, art, authoring, or vids. Decorate or rearrange your room. Reach out to friends & family by phone, letter, text, etc. Weather the weather until the sun comes out again. Live! All of these things and more will add to your overall enjoyment of both life and herb. Variety & moderation in all things.

How often do you vape different strains? Changing it up will give you different flavors (if you have access to high quality bud) and different highs. For me the flavor is the best part about vaporizing, so I really enjoy trying new strains.

Easy. Take an empty and clean peanut butter jar. Cut two holes in the top, one 18-20mm diameter and the other whatever fits what you have around to use for a mouthpiece. Put some silicone or other plastic tubing (glass is of course better if you have any; I assume you don't have a glass down stem or you would probably have bong or bubbler with it) in the 18-20mm hole, enough to reach down under whatever your desired water level is. The Solo stem should fit in the other end of the plastic, glass or silicone tubing, maybe need a washer. Voila.

I signed up just to post under this thread.

I have been smoking for 2 years and vaping for one year.

There is no real way to bring the magic back from the first ~10 times you have smoked. The good news is that there seems to be a ceiling of cannabis's "magic" that can get lost. The amount of cerebral and mental boost I get today is probably around the same as after one year of smoking.

Other than T-breaks that have already been mentioned (which is a temp fix, the magic redisappears very quickly even after a long T-break), I suggest changing the high by combining other things. I highly recommend trying some L-Theanine or Kava an hour before toking. Kava compounds with the body/stony feeling while L-Theanine has an anxiolytic effect (like you just finished meditating for 20 minutes). Each adds their own unique effect that should be very noticeable for anybody that vapes daily like me. Some people also like coffee with their session but I usually just end up with a headache.

Buy a Lotus..... Or a Sublimator, or a Herbie, or a VXH..... and if you have one, see if you can somehow get another, all of this is obviously expensive, except for the Lotus. Makes sense to me to try a different extraction method before throwing in the towel. It is TOTALLY working for me....
