Discontinued ThermoVape Evolution

Looking for clouds with this one isn't quite the best approach I think. More or less flavor is the better indicator. The more you vape, the more you start to get that popcorn taste towards the end of the load (this is true of all vaporizers). You'd be surprised how high you can get without blowing out lots of visible clouds. I'm doing that right now

Ok cool :-) glad to know!
Right now I'm waiting for the batteries to charge up again.. That's the thing that just kills me w the Evo.. A couple/few bowls and I'm left w one totally dead set and one still in the charger.. I know they made some sort of attachment for plugging it in.. Does anyone know what that was called or if there's an alternative? Or have any opinions?

I'd like to be friends w this handsome piece, but damn.. The learning curve.. But I need to work on patience.. And If anyone can get us to be buddies, it's you guys on FC :-D

ok.. I tried the three step way.. I got small puffs out of it.. larger puffs when I rode the battery, like inhaling while turning the battery on and off.

from what I understand, the 3 steps are: preheat the core, load it up, and pull consecutive medium-fast hits.. am I missing something?

Sounds like you're getting close, but missing a couple of key points.

First off, "larger puffs when I rode the battery" is correct. You ride the battery, and ride it hard, until you really get a handle on things. Don't let up, getting the core to full working temperature (saturation) and holding it there is the basis of step 1. Do that before anything else and keep it going.

Step 2 is the drawing of outside air in through the core and load to heat the load, not make vapor, heat the load up by transferring heat in with fairly long (say 15 seconds per lungful) even pulls. Step 2 continues until you get a solid test puff (which I don't notice you mentioning?). Don't cheat this step either. If you don't get that test puff in say 45 seconds or a minute on Step 2, back off, check the load and start again at step 2. Look for the test puff, depend on it over taste and other 'measures'.

Finally, only after a solid test puff ending step 2, take a hit. Blow out the partial vapors you might have in your lungs, that's not a hit in there. Then, before the load can cool at all, go for the hit. Unlike other vapes, but more like blazing, the harder you toke the more hot air is pulled into the load, the more vapor is generated. Hit it as hard as you want at that point. If you haven't pulled too much heat out in step 2 the core will have plenty of reserve of heat for you to call on for the fattest hit you can hold onto.

Keep the power on, it will replace some of the heat you're using. Ignore battery life for now, concentrate on what you're doing with the heat. Stick to the steps, don't go from one to two until you're sure the core is saturated and keep it saturated. Don't go from two to 3 (take the hit) until you get a solid test puff in a reasonable time (so you know there's a reserve of heat in the core for the hit), otherwise abort and go again.

These are real steps, do each in turn. They're not mileposts on the road, each is a separate destination.

That's the thing that just kills me w the Evo.. A couple/few bowls and I'm left w one totally dead set and one still in the charger.. I know they made some sort of attachment for plugging it in.. Does anyone know what that was called or if there's an alternative? Or have any opinions?

That's normal at this level. Ignore it for now, keep fresh batteries in it as you learn the steps. Eventually you'll get a handle on it and find that there's plenty of battery there for several solid hits and if you manage it right those hits can be very potent. But keep the horse up front as you ride in the cart.

There is a PA (Power Adapter) for the Ultramox (which uses two RCR123As) which it sounds like you have? It's basically an external 'wall wort' supply with an insert to mimic the battery stack and a battery tube with a hole in the bottom for a cable. It does, of course, destroy the 'cordless' part. These guys are discontinued a while back, you might find one, but we can also invent one if you really want to (need to drill the holes and cobble up an insert and supply) but first to learn to use it as designed.

First step there is not to be afraid of the battery switch. Get it hot, go to step 2, work on the test puff, then (finally) spit what you have out and hit it like you mean it.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll get it. Evolution is a tool for experts, but no reason you can't be that too.....and it will perform all out of proportion for it's size, given the chance.

Thanks @OF this is all so helpful. I do not have a power adapter and definitely may want to build one (and I'm sure my much more technically inclined hubby will love to help w that when the time comes :-)

For now I'll stick to the batteries and keep you posted on my progress! I am excited at the prospect of using this thing properly and having it actually function for me :-)

You're quite welcome, stick with it, IMO you'll be amply rewarded.

Let me know when you want to talk PA......

How is the LV 3.7v version of this on a variable voltage Ego Twist? I cannot seem to find much info on this. The only thing I found was a youtube video saying it didn't work on a regular Ego and also a variable voltage Ego Twist.

It the 3.7v version even useful on the Thermovape LV battery setup?

Of course.

Fine on Ultra and Ultra Max (they actually designed their gear to work......). Even the tiny one will give you a hit (or even two if you're careful), but it's murder on that poor little battery (fighting way over it's weight) and can't be recommended. The other two are the 'official factory supplies' for Evolution.

You're welcome.

Thank you. I'm getting the impression that there's no aftermarket mod I can use to share with my other equipment. If I have to, I will just get the TV stuff, but I was trying to be a little economical and use something that can be shared with my other stuff.

The problem is the needed current and variable will not cut it.
"Mechanical" mods will work.

Can someone explain what a UFO mouthpiece is? I keep seeing it mentioned, but cannot figure out what it is or does? Pics?

The UFO is the little metal piece that plugs into the bottom of the mouthpiece. Acts a screen to keep debris from passing through. Called a UFO because of the look of it.

Check out some cheap mechanical mods on Fasttech. I know they are clones and thats bad and whatnot, (especially when they engrave the knocked off logo on some, thats messed up) but you cannot beat a 15 dollar beautifully machined/lathed piece of metal.

Been running my evolution on a v3 clone mech mod for a month now, it works great. A little hot at first during the learning process of holding down the button constantly, because of the all brass build, but i've gotten it down and now it doesnt get nearly as hot.

I hate to bump up a super old thread guys but I just discovered this vape and a site that sells BRAND NEW never used units for really good prices. Im thinking about just buying the loose leaf chamber and combining it with one of the "mechanical mods". Im pretty set on everything I need but if anyone has a recommend or could show me their current set up it would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats on the good find!

My set up is shown and described on page 117 of this thread, it is quite unique if i don't say so myself, yet simple enough to make from household materials, except for the hose, if you don't have a medical grade tube that can withstand heat you can buy some at about any medical store or online for $10 or so.

Im good without the tubing honestly. I love running my solo and PAX on the highest setting so I think ill be ok? I actually enjoy warm/hot vapor besides the dry mouth part!

The tube adds more punch to the hit actually, basically acting as a chamber to store your vapor as it travels to your lungs, so if you dont have the tube, you'll have less effective hits and lower battery span (say 2-3 hits less). But its all optional, I have several lengths of tube, and sometimes i just use a long MP and that works as well. The Red cloth cover helps insulate the core while also causing air coming in to literally enter through a blanket of heat ( I like warm vapor as well, thats why i came up with my EVO setup, have fun with your experimenting!
