Is it normal for a box to produce light vapor/smoke when it's empty?

Assuming it has been used before, yes.

Small particles will be trapped in there even if you brush it out diligently. As part of my MFLB routine cleaning I do a burn off of the empty box. I brush it out, then run it empty until it stops producing visible vapor, and then brush it out a second time.

So a bit more MFLB reflections since I re-introduced myself to it.

With a bit more use, I've come to the following conclusions in how it compares, high wise and usage to my LSV"

2 hits from my LSV gets me where I want to be. It takes 3 with the Box.

I've got a new technique that allows me to blow out nice vapor clouds on demand. Not quite as voluminous as the LSV, but surprising nonetheless.

A wands worth in the LSV (a quarter of an inch) lasts me 2 and half days. That same amount in the Box lasts me 3.

The ABV in the box comes out a more "uniform dark brown" than the LSV where the bud is mostly dark brown but with specks of gold.

The high is totally different. It's almost like a different strain. The LSV just whacks me in the head and body like a good Indica, whereas with the Box, it's more of a sativa high. Same salad. Don't like one high necessarily better than other, but after using the LSV for almost year now as my daily drive, the high from the MFLB is a nice change. Both highs just as powerful...........just different.

Obviously, I'm getting a different cannabinoid profile from the same bud. I'm sure it's the temps and how the heat is applied, but the difference is not slight.

(gotta change my sig)

Even though I brush my box out after every single session I have never really done any other cleaning and I had no idea just how dirty it had gotten. So I did several burn offs followed by a thorough screen cleaning and WOW. It's almost like a whole new box.

After having my Box for a couple months and donig some experimenting.. I'm super pleased with it! :D

Also, I've been working with letting my bud sit for some time before breaking it up- this week I got some herbs that were way on the sticky side, and smelled super cheesy- I let it sit out a couple times (8 hours, 12 hours) while going back in the container in between.

The main problem with me was the grind up until now.. Sipping a trench could be a pretty harsh experience all the way through, and I wasn't happy with the quality and consistency of the ABV.
Today, I washed two nickels with soap and water, placed the last of my stash in a pill bottle, and shook them up w/ the nickels. I got the best result in the trench following that I ever have with the box, it lasted longer, tasted better and hit stronger. Good vapor production, I pushed it to what must have been the vaping end of high temps before combustion with the thickness of the resulting vapor towards the end of the trench, so I inspected the mix and that is not the case, so I think. No cherry, no smoke formed in the trench, and much less scorching than I've ever had. And that buzz :whoa: Way better effect hit by hit, way higher than I've been previously from the box and a smoother experience overall. My first vape purchase was a major success, and I'm glad I'm finally able to work with the conduction heating properly

Such fond memories of mornings in the bathroom stall at work, puffing away on my MFLB.
really surprised that works for you, when i had mines round 2 years ago i was puffin away in the shower, still reeked alot. idk if it was the steam pushing it out or something.

Im sure its been said before, but turning your grinder upside down helps. I run my herb through my grinder 2-3 times upside down and then shake it in the grinder with two dimes before putting it into my box, and by that point its nearly powder.

I also can get a smell with my box, but i find it goes away pretty fast.. Either way, I rarely need to hide it. Exhaling into a towel works well, if you have to hide it.

I do notice a smell with it, especially if you're having a session with another person and you go for a while. If you have the door shut in a room and someone else comes in it's just like a waft of fresh bud. But the smell doesn't seem to eek through the door, noticed this on multiple occasions. Definitely stealthier than even having a sack of kind bud in your drawer, much less smoking. Haha

I definitely notice the smell of it cooking when I go in for a hit

Of the many MFLB owners that also have log vapes, have you compared
the efficiency of the two?

I'm thinking my log vape (Toasty Top) is noticeably more efficient...

I thought so too until I did a test. I measured out a dozen or so .12 gram vials of ground bud. One trench or 3 stems worth. In the end I decided it was a push. The PD was easier and faster (once warm), but the box has a charm of it's own I think.

Efficiency wise I think it's a push.

Both are useful, but for me MFLB got the nod. I gave my spare PD to a friend, one should do me just fine I think.

Just tried my finishing grinder in my MFLB and SSV,the the MFLB was the best trench I have vaped yet.
I used to try to imitate the finishing grinder by using my grinder upside down, this is much better than before.

Now I'm off to try this fine grind in my volcano
Cheers

My Purple Days was more efficient, but in all honesty, not by that much.

Totally agree on the Finishing grinder. It made such a difference that I brought my MFLB out of a 4 year retirement and it's now back in the rotation.

Hey so is it normal for warranty claims to be answered past the normal 48-72 hour window for response? I filed the e-form for the warranty on my box for a torn screen on Wednesday. I haven't received any response yet from magic flight other than the instant confirmation email you get when you send the claim.

Doesn't sound out of the norm. MF is a pretty small company and they have the liberty of taking the weekends off. Wednesday to Friday is only two days, weekend off, and then Monday would be the third day. I know it seems kinda weird but that's how they've always been. I know, kinda hard to plan around a vape emergency like that, but what can we do? Hope you've checked your spam folder like @poonman said, and hope you've got another vape handy.

Just bought the $40 bubbler from pipesdaddy. Looking for the best way to hook this up to my MFLB. Would like to use this with my dabbler as well. Any help is appreciated.

That tube (from another source) should work fine, it does for me with a short piece of 1/4 Acrylic tube (like the original stems) to mate with the box. I found a short tube worked best for me, although a longer tube made shaking between hits easier (no need to remove the box from the rig).

For Dabbler I use a short piece of nesting tube (3/8 ID) to adapt up in ID, although you might make an Omicron MP work?

You're going to like it once you get the details worked out.

I get all my high temp silicone tubing from goflowsystems and find it to be quality stuff ... maybe you know a better source?
