The Lotus Vaporizer

@BLAZING OG that was tight. holy shit though what torch is that. looks powerful.
crazy huge clouds from such a simple "looking" device, love the load and rip aspect, no waiting to heat up. cant wait for mine to arrive

keep the vids comin
Thanks Brotha :clap::clap::rockon::rockon:

Iam using a Honest lighter from fasttech.com
http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/...st-windproof-plastic-butane-jet-torch-lighter
this exact same one, works great and I can turn it up pretty high, as you can see it kept turning off because I had it to high, I lowered it a tad bit and now it stays on and flame is only slightly smaller.

I had ordered a beefier one but I never got that one and they credited me back my money, no problem, I will order another one soon.
Its great I love it, its gotta be one of the fastest vapor producing vaporizers on the market, literally 3-5 seconds. I can get bigger clouds and more milk if I would of loaded just a bit more , that bowl right there wasnt even half of the loatu;s capacity.

Thank you again:tup::tup:

If anyone was ever on the fence about the Lotus, this video would definitely tip them over to our side.

Great video, what a monster hit!
Thank you @Fenton Mewley, all of everyones great feedback makes me want to do more vids for those on the fence. The Lotus of course makes my job simple, i just medicate and film it for you guys and gals.
This video I , just sat in my herman miller, sat back enjoyed my self a 2 hit session, the only problem was that right were my video ended was when my 16 GB HD sdxc card ran out of memory lol lol lol , so next video will be a complete session.:shrug::shrug:

Thanks :rockon::rockon:

Just messing around, and stuck a bit of high temp silicone tubing down into the "bowl" of my vaporgenie hand carved pipe, and inserted the lotus PA in there, making a snug fit and allowing me to use the wood pipe with the lotus :D You may notice that I have a ring of dimples on my plate, that was from me pushing up slightly on the plate from under the inside, through the air holes. I found it gives me a better point to aim towards, and at the time, I was concerned that my plate was restricting airflow after denting inward. It was a bit of a happy accident.

Had to join in the video fun, here's the PA w/ my Health Stone Glass pipe and my VG hand carved pipe stem.

For the vid, I just barely stuck the PA into the wood VG, just as a quick example, if I were to leave it in there, I'd press the PA in deeper so it looked a bit nicer. Line of sight is just good enough on both pieces, though it helps to start the heat up and get a good focal point before moving it towards the face, these o'l eyes ain't what they used to be LOL

another side note, the Healthstone pipe in this vid already had a VG screen suspended inside of the bowl chamber since I have been using it VG style, so I just let the Lotus PA rest on top of the screen, rather than removing it. Seems to be a good fit.

**also got the replacement plate kit in the mail today, thanks for the fast shipping! :D

A little tip for those looking for a good deal, watch the FC classifieds ;) You won't be seeing mine there any time soon :science: but they do pop up from time to time.

I opened up my Lotus, there was some surface "darkening" around the wood ring that contacts the plate, no doubt from my early days of overheating. About what I expected to see, sorry I was in cleaning mode at the time, and put it all back together after a swab down w/ a touch of iso/qtip, and didn't get any photos. Next time...

The plate on my lotus seemed to develop a bit of a crack.. and now it is giving off a powerful wood smell and offgasses when I torch it without the bowl attached. I don't feel safe using it until I can replace the cover so I suppose I'm back to combustion now :/

made another vid yesterday, this is still my favorite dry stem so far...

That thing looks great. I would love something like that. Where did you find it. The more I read this thread the less likely I am going to be waiting on the MassDrop for this one. The one thing I miss about combustion is using a lighter. Plus this seems less "high tech" than other vales. There is something beautifully simple about it.

Why would you want to torch it without the bowl attach and overall not inhalating when you torch, it is false operating imo. The lotus belongs to a high temperature balance since the air inhale and the heat applied by a torch on the plate are both fonctionnal. Which means you have to inhale to operate lotus.

The ring of wood touching the plate is conducted heat from the plate, since you do not output heat by some inhaling, the border phenomenon of wood charring by superheating it is normal by your behavior.

I made some photos of two lotus units used as such: one from may 2013, other from sept 2013. I found the zone charred unevenly but very few to none heavy charred zones. To me it leads to the theory of functionning of the lotus. It leads to a very rare overheating plate announcing a stop use of lotus for colding plate.

This theory as all of them is criticable at will.

Step 1:

Bring the high temperature balance possible to let a stable centered flame hit the center of the plate. This step should not overlast in time more than 3 seconds, more seconds risks note 2.

Step 2:

begin to inhale and start a high temp air flow and maintain it. Control the flow inhalated by looking at clouds if you can. taste is the other control way.

Put back the flame at a 2 cm heigh of the plate and make gentle circle to let this heat compensate the heat output of your inhale.

Setp 3: Enjoy being a modern vaporist and repeat.

Note 1: border behavior. The overheat of the plate by conduction of the wood of the chassis can bring some wood taste on the hits. Let the plate cool down before next use.

Note 2: Border behavior. An oversteady flame at the center of the plate can bring some radiation impact on the load, this provide spots of charred loads. By a quick though lotus is a magic filter of heat from blue heavy torch, since axis of flame leads right in the bowl make radiation not very far.

Note 3: do not overpack loads since lotus should be convective dominant, air have to flow freely. Just make a plane surface with your pinky in order to prevent fluffy loads to fly in the cap.

Note 4: Big clouds means more particles, i observed many time herbal loads shrinked through hits. Visible rich clouds with many components.

Note 5: Hits can be at your disposable, many whispy ones or few heavy. stretch loads or not, your choice or consequence of your behavior of your blue flame. Beware of skiping step 1, i always prefer a very short direct flame touch to make cold plate take is operationnal temperature than a too long flame impact on the flame to prevent any overheating. skipping step 1 and having a normal behavior of the unit without overheating plate is still to be dicussed.

Hi Everybody,

I just got an old Lotus WPA yesterday. That's the first version without any stirring stick and magnets.
I attach it to a J hook and it works perfectly fine. I tried it with a bubbler also, but the simple J Hook was IMO a better experience.

I really like the simplicity of the Lotus. Quick heating, no more need to plug anything and I enjoy to use a lighter (old combustion habits I guess). I can easily blow nice clouds with ridiculous amount of material.

Regarding the taste, to be totally objective I find it nice but not as good as my SSV for example. I guess that's because the metal has a bit its own taste. However I'm 100% pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anybody.

That's why, I just wanted to thanks the FC community for all the infos provided in this thread.

To Max Jitter, I can only say one thing : Good job ! I wish you a great success. By the way, do you know if verdampftnochmal.de will at some point offer accessories (http://www.lotusvaporizer.com/catalog/4) ?

Little question to finish : Is there a real performance difference between the old and the new versions ? Or are we only talking here about design improvements like bigger chamber capacity, stirring stick and magnets ?

Has anyone used double or triple butane torches with the lotus? I have a beautiful Triple Pump Vortex that I got as a gift. I was just wondering if this would be too much for the lotus? I don't want to harm the wooden parts.

I have seen people use them with good results.I on the under hand noticed smoke coming from under my cap using a double.Scared me so much i sold it on ebay a few days after i got it.You can use them but i'm betting the wood on the Lotus is less forgiving with the double + torches.I would like to hear Max jitters opinion on this issue.
