hello. i am fairly new to oils and wax. i will be ordering a glass piece soon for flower but it has a 18mm hole so i wondered if there was a bowl or something simple i can buy for 60$ or less that would work for oils and i my piece?

Youre looking for a nail. You can get them in glass or quartz of you don't want titanium.

What are you asking? You want to use oils and waxes. You're getting an 18mm (I assume female when you say "hole") piece. If you want to use oils with that piece you first need a way to consume the oil, like a nail or an oil pen. Then, you need an adapter that would make the nail or oil pen work with your piece. So. Can you clarify how you will be consuming the oil? "I'm getting a piece and I want to use it with oil for 60 or less" is too vague and also a bit optimistic, imo, unless you buy crap-quality concentrate gear.

The thing that frightens me is the OP wants to use a single piece for flower and concentrate. I highly recommend getting a separate piece, or it's going to make the oil taste like exhaust pipe.

You really need to post a picture of the piece you're getting, or we're grasping at straws.

I'll assume the 18mm female connection coming out of the piece is not at 45 degrees, or you'll need an adapter to get it facing straight up.

Then you'll need a male-to-male adapter: http://aqualabtechnologies.com/glas.../alt-18-mm-male-to-18-mm-male-90-adapter.html

Next you need a nail: http://aqualabtechnologies.com/conc.../alt-18-mm-glass-concentrate-nail-medium.html

For a first rig, a globe will help keep the mess down: http://aqualabtechnologies.com/conc.../aqua-lab-tech-top-load-vapor-dome-18-mm.html

And a dabber: http://aqualabtechnologies.com/conc...ab-technologies-glass-concentrate-dabber.html

Now you have a basic setup you can stare at until you have enough cash to get a torch.

You can probably find a skillet that will work for under 60$ at your local head shop, a glass looking funnel with an end overlooking a titanium plate thats heated and then used for dabbing, something like this

While generally it is better to have separate pieces for flowers and oils, there is no reason you couldn't use that piece for oils while you save for a nice oil rig. Like others have said you will need an adapter, nail, dome (or a domeless nail) and a torch. I suggest the $30 Bed Bath& Beyond torch (Don't forget your 20% off coupon), it is very similar to the vector torch at half the price.

then use this nail

that leaves $15 for a can of butane a nd a cheap dabber. There's a full dab setup for that piece for under $60

so on that quartz one i assume you place the concentrate in the outer circle, heat a titanium or glass dabber, press the concentrate with the dabber and the smoke is sucked through the middle smaller hole?

No. You heat the entire quartz nail, then apply concentrate to the outer ring with a dabber while inhaling.

Video demo I found when I was researching that type of nail. I can't decide on a 3pack or single heh.
(the [too big] dab is at 1:20)

ok thanks for the info. first question, i hear glass dabbers are useless and break quick, is this true? also if i heat up the 18mm male nail above wont it be too hot to pull out and clear my tube?

Glass never breaks itself, that part is up to you. I will say it's harder to make a sharp-edged scoop or paddle from glass, so that is limiting.

When you dab, you never pull the nail to clear no matter the material/style of nail.

oh @SD_haze, I have one of those nails and I don't really like it. You see the way the guy in that vid has it laid way over? That is about the only way to get proper surface area to dab on. The moat on these nails is too narrow IMHO.

Depending on the consistency of your dab, couldn't you kinda "rotate" the material around in a circle? That way it doesn't all pool in one corner (cooling the nail down disproportionately)

If you mean glass NAIL, then a lot of them do break quickly. That's why they're often included for free with oil rigs.

A real "quartz" nail is supposed to be more durable than your average glass nail. It shouldn't crack or even shatter like a cheap glass nail can.

RE: clearing the tube
There's no ash or herb clogging your bowl so the airflow is strong enough at the end of the rip that you can just clear the tube through normal pulling.

Hello, I dab a lot and have tried all the available options. I can say with certainty my favorite is an hmk curve (preferably on an hmk rig, but the waitlist is forever)
http://www.planetvape.ca/vaporizers/hmk-ti-curves.html
http://aqualabtechnologies.com/concentrate-utensils/hashmasta-kut-glass.html
The reason I love them is because
-you get to save all your dry claim in the stem/screen and apply heat to drip it out and revape it (other setups give you wet claim, which is useless)
-the tubing is restricted providing a less airy draw, higher vapor density to air ratio, more flavor
and I find titanium pad to give a pure clean taste, provided you have seasoned it properly.

It works, it's just by far the weakest domeless quartz I've tried. I find the castle style to be exponentially better.
