Glass storage?

Not sure where to post this, so Ill spam here.

I just ordered up my first glass piece (so stoked). After a TON of searching and debating (and a few pieces getting sold as I was being wishy-washy about clicking "buy now"), I decided to go with a piece from @redglassgallery

http://www.ioffer.com/i/hd-65mm-matrix-tire-perc-water-pipe-bubbler-18-8-dewar-559936518

Height8" (W, and Mouth Piece Approx 12")

I had originally set my sights on a Mob Ion Matrix bub, but I could only find one at ALT (which was then sold, lol) and it cost well more than 2x what I just paid (thx for the awesome FC discount BTW).

Anyway, I am now looking for something to store this in. Id love to keep it out as a show piece, but with a 2 year old running loose, thats NOT going to happen. Needless to say I need some sort of case/bag that will keep it safe.

Id rather not spend $80+ on another Pelican case (I've already got a 1200 which is too small), and those larger Ryot bags cost just as much (and are too big). Other suggestions?

How about a cheaper bag? 7th floor have a few sizes under $50 that would work with that piece

Any suggestions on which one? Im concerned about diameter and not length.

Most glass wraps up in a free/cheap large piece of bubble wrap pretty easily.
I just tuck the end sides, and roll it up.
Then I can tuck it in a big brown box or a backpack I already have lying around.

The SSV Dimebags are definitely really nice. I'm just a cheapstakes sometimes :p

Yea but I also have OCD to contend with. Everything in its place and so forth...

canj00digit?

All my days in a daze...
But are those exterior or interior dimensions?

I don't know, mate.
I haven't looked too closely at it.
I saved the link because it looked like a very inexpensive alternative.
Granted it's not deep (listed as 6" which I guess is external since it doesn't specify) so the size of the base of the piece is probably going to have to be less than 5".
Probably better for smaller pieces.

Indeed!

;)

Thank you though! Im more leaning towards these padded cylindrical bags than the hard cases ATM. Seems like less hassle and at a lower price point? My only concern is smell (my "office" is also the guest room for a few nights out of the year when people come to visit).

I know combustion pieces REEK, How to vape/dab only pieces fair?

Fair enough. I guess we will see how lazy I am.

...uggg and now maybe I need to make a new thread? With these fancy percs and shit... whats the best way to clean? I used to use iso and uncooked white rice, but that was with straight tube combustion bongs with solid downstems and the like. Id hate to have a grain of rice get stuck in the perc or something.

Vape pieces won't smell through a zipped bag. Unless its disgustingly gunked up to the point where even mold is an issue.

Also FYI:
Hot water really washes away the smell from Vaped up glass (if you want to limit/avoid constant ISO usage)

Some of us prefer PBW and hot water to clean our glass. My perc is much simpler, but I've found it always gets my glass fully clean. My routine* is every 4ish-6ish days clean via very hot tap water rinse, PBW+hot water brief soak (say 10-30 mins?), then hot water flush, then hot distilled water finishing rinse (for water minerals). Works a charm on my simpler perc. I found ISO to be about as effective, but I prefer working with PBW.
* hardly a routine in that I'm quite slack in terms of timing and measuring things, yet the glass invariably comes out spotless. A testament to the effectiveness of the cleaner imo.

I clean my pieces with Simple Green. Soak overnight. Dump the SG back into the container to reuse and rinse the piece thoroughly.

Dabs are vapor too!
When I did a bit of research on prices the peli and SH the prices ended up being priced about the same. SH mostly sold thru mfr's site? Lots of pelis on ebay for good prices.

Did you check Amazon? Thats where i got my Pelican 1200 and it was MUCH less then buying direct from Pelican. And if the cost is = then go with the Pelican.

Also, Pelican's pick and pluck foam is top notch compared to other brands. Not a big enough deal if there's a large price gap... but not if they are close or equal in cost.

Nalpak.com as well. Not sure how competitively priced they are though. That's where I get Pelicans for work from but I'm not paying for them.
