I think my walnut version looks nicer, but I guess the space punk model is kinda cool, too.:brow:

I also have the beta, but kinda like the steampunk better. :)

Man...$170 without the power adapter is expensive. I understand that the selling point is that you don't need the PA...but still.

Do we even know if the "first gen" MFLB PA works with this thing yet?

They both work. You need to keep it on the low low end though. Less surface area = faster heating = less energy needed. It worked with the new PA as well. Worked just fine with a battery too, much better than the LB and a concentrate tray, but keep in mind this is meant for full melt concentrates. I haven't tried bubble hash in it or anything with a lot of plant matter.

Of course. I wouldn't use this with anything but full melt. I guess the PA isn't even really necessary. While $120 is currently expensive for a concentrate vaporizer...you get a LIFETIME warranty with it. And a whip...which didn't come with the MFLB. Plus that "case" is pretty damn nice also. Black and gold? Shit, look at my profile picture.

I found it convenient because like the concentrate trays you can preload it and just leave it with the lid closed. Hard to beat 2-3 seconds to vapor from total cold start.

This is something that I think should be a "necessity" with concentrate vapes...hell even all vapes. It should be easy to load and should stay loaded easily.

My experience with the beta version has been a rapid resin build-up on the floor and walls of the interior. After only a couple of dabs, resin was already pooling in the little dimple beneath the screen. Since the LB is basically wood, I wrote to Magic-Flight about cleaning advice but I haven't gotten a response yet.

Let's hope that metal loading platform is STURDY. Trying to get shatter on to that could bend it pretty easily. Looks promising, though.

This was the other concern that I expressed to them. With that screen there's a lot more temptation to poke things in there and I'm worried about damaging the tray. I realize Magic-Flight's legendary warranty will cover me if I break it but I assume that it's sturdier than it looks. I just don't want to test to destruction.

I have what I think is this unit as well. It came as part of a confidential Beta Test package I didn't have much luck with personally, although the system seemed sound enough.

That said, I think Pak has once again gone to the heart of the matter. Fouling will, I think, be an issue with some. We have guys putting grams per week through Ceras and Hercules carts, this little guy isn't up to that I think. As the small screen fouls up, there's no obvious way to clean it. For occasional use with high quality concentrates it might be fine, but a few dabs of nasty extracts could make a mess that defies clean up.

Time will tell, but if this is what I think some guys may have their units in for service a LOT? Some guys treat their gear better than others, some just demand more.

Edit: I just got the official notice from MF on this, before folks get too wound up it says on the front page "allowing you to vaporize liquid concentrates quicker and easier than before" (emphasis mine). This does not seem promising to those intent on kief, bubble, full melts and the like and may even indicate that shatters are a problem?

It seems that the fancy 'steam punk' version is the real deal, wood dyed black (which should help hide the deposits). The lens, it seems, is a real (glass) lens, it magnifies?

Release December 25.

It's been a while so I busted out the MFLB this morning for my wake n vape!
The damn VB2 just isn't cutting it anymore...subpar product imo, not powerful enough for me...and I can list more cons than pros...so back to the MFLB where my only con is sometimes its a bit harsh (but thats my own fault as i like high temps)

Very excited about the MFCB...if only i had access to wax! ugh!
Yeah yeah make my own...well i cant right now.

Anyways, looks awesome! Ill definitely snag one up when i get back into waxes...well, when waxes get back into me i should say lol

I'm personally really not keen on the asthetic design of the CB. Also being in the uk means getting decent LIQUID concentrates means making you own or knowing someone who does.

Sad to find out the new products not for me. Oh well.

I like the fact that the screen heats up red hot so fast .
It looks like the screen is adhered on from underneath .
I want to know with what is it adhered with ? or if it's just snapped/hooked on to the rods ?

If it's snapped on , it can be easily replaceable by user .
Therefore bypassing the warranty process .

I also would probably lined the bottom of the trench with foil , for easier cleaning and maintenance .

I assume it's the same kind of welding as the normal LB screen. Only issue is that it's only a little bit so it will be more fragile. I've poked at it some throughout my using it (CO2, reclaim, sap) and it's held so far.

My only "issue" with it is that it seems that when I vape my CO2 oil the (glass) stem collects reclaim quite fast. It makes sense since that's the first unheated area it touches on the way to you, but I did notice more than usual. It works quite well otherwise. Oddly, I didn't get the buildup issue inside of the box like paka said.

The build-up probably is dependent on the concentrate used. I used the same concentrate in my FV and got the same quick build-up.

This will be called the MD not the CB. Someone is a Frank Herbert fan: they've called it the Muad-Dib (from Modified Dab Box). Liquid concentrates are not easy to get for most of us. That's why the beta test kit included Kava, which is legal and is similar to BHO and CO2 in viscosity and method of vapourizing. By using Kava Magic-Flight could be sure that all beta testers had a suitable concentrate.

Swell, that's not what I got from it.....I got it as a test of the Kava (which I didn't care for). I never tried hash oil as that wasn't part of the instructions. Too bad. Sometimes you get the memo, sometimes not.

As a device for vaporizing it was fine IMO. The dose of the Kava was, however, dinky. Totally different than the bulk of oil I foresee ending up in there. We'll be lucky not to have drips falling rather that dots you can't see except in strong light.

If this is the same, then yes the screen is welded on the rods. I can't really see another way, the massive clips on Palm didn't seem to work all that well. The screen should last well under good conditions, but I bet a lot of them die by toothpick wielded by a user 'under the influence'......

Time will tell, fun gadget.

Magic-Flight didn't send out any memo, I simply inferred the purpose of the Kava beta test. It struck me as odd that they would market a Kava-only box. Then I asked myself how could they ensure that all their beta testers would have something to test with.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they got the feedback on the Kava and said, "Oh well, that won't fly (excuse pun), wonder what we can do with this thing now..."

One day I accidentally smashed the screen all the way to the bottom of the box, twice, and my box is totally fine still... I'm sure I got lucky but IMO it's pretty flexible, and stronger than it seems.

I haven't used the box for many concentrates.. But since you can access the mess to wipe it up, I would think it would have less of a fouling issue than a MFLB.. Maybe the reason for the black (paint? dye?) coating is to keep the oil from absorbing into the wood?? Have you been wiping it down, and still having odor issues? I would just use a Q-tip. I don't know what else you could do.

Considering how the screen can get glowing red, you can just do a burn off and carefully brush it off.. I haven't tried, but I would assume that Bubble is a no-no.. And it just sounds ridiculous to try and load Keif in something that tiny that can glow red hot.. I don't really see Shatters being much of an issue, regarding the screen.

I personally enjoyed the Kava, but I would prefer to drink some.

I totally forgot this thing was called the Maud-Dib.. that's probably gonna take me a little bit to get used to.

The memo was not literal I guess, I read the same stuff you (and others) did I assume. I read it as testing the idea of marketing Kava, complete with web links that didn't work. I read up on Kava and tested that aspect rather than the tool. I had no useful input for them, who knows I might have otherwise had I not taken it at face value. Thinking the test might still be ongoing, I stashed the rig somewhere would not have thought to 'contaminate' it until the all clear.......which I guess just happened?

Thanks for the insight, I hope they got what they wanted from the Beta testing......

That's funny ... I was wondering why you had said you "think" you have this unit.

Although I don't see myself using it as my go to oil device I think I will have to get one of these when they go on sale.

How's the flavor of the hit beta testers?

Wow, the power of suggestion. I loved the taste and the effect of the kava concentrate and was trying to get more...to no avail.
My buddy came over witth some oil, I said what the hell try the kava box. I set him up with the pa and the whip he waited until he saw vapor and pulled too hard and saw God as he tried to exhale.as smoothly as possible. He has had my maudib box for a month . Now he can get his own.

WTH does Kava even do? I though it looked sorta gimmicky.
I see it a lot in headshops around here in some sort of liquid shot form

I only used the Kava in the beta box, and I didn't really care for it.

You and me both, Lady! Not my cup of tea either I guess. I too assumed that was the test, not the new box. Being the sort I am, I got hung up following directions (again) and never considered using the test box for my own uses until released in the Beta testing (which I'm not sure has happened???).

Be fun to see where this goes. Interesting variation on the Dabbler/KISS/Revolution/DART theme? I'm still a little worried as ever larger 'dabs' of "what I can get" are loaded......time will tell.

Thanks for the post, I feel better having the company.

Magic Flight have now brought out a mains converter for home use.
I was lucky to get hold of one recently and its temperature control is really accurate. Great for various substances and comes with car lighter adapter. Very well made as expected from MFLB. Highly recommended.

I really need to burn off every tiny little bit of that Kava so I can try some wax in it!
