I went old school for my e-nail.

(not my unit, great pic though)

It probably doesn't even compare with the units in this thread,
but I don't want to completely retire my ssv when the evo finally arrives.

I haven't but i'm fucking tempted. My concern is that I was under the assumption that the bulder programed the heater based on the density of the HE dualati.

If there's one thing the Omni isn't is light. It's very thick, in a good way, but very soild.

The auto tuning would cause it to learn how to adjust temp based on the mass, we just need to get a properly sized coil.

Maybe it's the Parkinsons but what do you mean? Which is the one true enail. Mine was put together privately but I would put it up against any enail on the market.

Or, are you comparing the sub's oil rig against an enail? No defense, just asking?

And just to go over the D-nail, at one point they were one of the only players out there. When the competition was sparse by all mean the D-nail was the cat's meow just like 10 years ago the Volcano was the same. Not as long of a time difference but were talking about fucking technology.

The units today with the small connections will some day be old technology as well. That's not to say any of use stuff, whether you have something home made, or the d-nail, wont work anymore.

Shit, I still no people who only use a MFLB. To me, I use them in the bathroom is we lose power in a hurricane - to him it was his daily driver.

That's choice just like each of us when it comes to e nails and shit. Just wait till the electric quartz shit hits, great back to the fucking ATM!

It's just the way it is. The life of a weed nerd....:disgust:

Well, basically just talking cosmetically, what I am saying is, I'm not impressed with the soldering equipment you guys are showing off; it looks like it came out of a mad scientists workshop.

No offense, but these just look hacked together by some engineering geeks and at the end of the day it costs more even when you DIY with parts.
When you take into account HE's failure rate, these things are even more unattractive.

IMO these coil devices are not consumer friendly/ready commercial products.
The sub e-nailator is closer, but seems like it uses older cheap electronic components (cheap looking old style brown power cord, timer switch and dial).

The smart-dabb looks amazing in comparison to everything else, especially considering the price of the classic unit, at half the price of the sub, and the digital unit costing nearly the same.
The only thing holding me back from purchasing the smart-dabb is the lack of reviews at the present time.

You're obviously missing a few key points.
Get a smart-dabb and we can do some side by side videos and you'll see where the value is.

Well, I know the coils are more versatile in that you can use other nails, and you have the options quartz or Ti. And the digital temp range is nice. But the price gets me.

I like that the smart-dabb classic acts more like a torch, you just hold down the button to heat it up with electricity instead of torching it.
I think ideally I would like the closest thing to a torch heating up my nail (on, heat up, off, dab) but from an electric source.

I dont want something constantly using power, like the sub these things can be great, but electricity is wasted in between dabs and it just seems dangerous to have them running all the time, the potential for a heated sub to tip over and burn something is greater increased if it is hot for a longer period the time, and this is unavoidable as the sub is supposed to be left on to heat its atomizer. A coil system like these can act similar but it does have the ability to be turned off in between hits.

I can see where both the sub and coil systems can have advantages , but it just seems like a smart-dabb or even some sort of electric torch to heat a nail is ideal.

VAPOLITICS!
Hmmm you can totally click off the power between dabs or at least dab session time frames (30 mn-1H?). Common, it reaches temp. in 2 mn...?

I was at some point discussing with Task when he stopped his e-nail and he explained his chinese electronic sourcing was a real nightmare and that it was not his "market" vs. Ti.
I think a few companies are now sourcing proper thermo-couples/proper temp. controller/proper coils/and proper security cables... and basically the failure rate drastically went down now (a little in contact with several manufacturers).

Now these things (particularly mine, ROFL), can auto-tune based on the thermal mass/the coil & thermocouple specs in a breeze, you can tweak the codes to your convenience, you can use it with Ti and/or Quartz, and mine has this super-brilliant user friendly tray with multiple 19mm & 15 mm holes to put & secure your hot nails, coils etc...

So I feel you on the smart-dabb being "aesthetically" pleasing but I feel much more secure (health wise, security wise...) the heating element and electronics being so close - electric cables & connections below the "nail" in the black ring probably -in the smart dabb IMO = no go) and "free" (versatility-wise) on the long term using the coils... My :2c:!

You saying my nail is ugly foo!?

LOL. I like your video.
I just dont think your Frankenstein soldering iron is better than a device engineered and designed for the same thing.
And I'm not saying these dont work well, I'm just saying the title of this thread is next-generation e-nails, and these coils are like last gen...old, not impressed. like a volcano. :D

I'm not sure if you understand an e-nail... these are next-gen since they can be built in your home without having to go to the retailer. You cannot improve the designs much, if at all for a "next generation" feel.... Dabbing is dabbing, hot metal, quartz, or glass vaping/combusting your oil.

With a temp controller they have maxed out the potential to improve... maybe better components im not too sure... now you can take hot or cold dabs, also depending on you build your own you can turn of the nail separately from the unit.

TL;DR. Enail cannot be improved on, other than cosmetics and sourcing. Build it yourself.

I totally understand the point of an e-nail and feel you have entirely missed mine.
I am not interested in a device that can be built myself. I don't want the responsibility nor the labor involved in building it. There is an element of danger involved, little warranty and it costs more in parts at the end of the day.
I am however interested in a nice polished consumer package that looks next-gen and not hacked together DIY. I am not sure how much clearer I can be than that....

Downward spiral
@bassplayer got his yesterday. I know he has at least one more made up. I've just been crazy busy so I haven't been able to rant about them more yet!

Right on, man.
I, for one, enjoyed the rants/sharing.
Keep us posted as time permits!!

Hopefully gonna join the E-nail revolution after the new year begins. Debating on building one vs purchasing. So far your buddy's looks like the best buy.

I really like mine so far. It appears to be very well made and works as desired. There's no manual yet so I'm not aware of all the features, I'll search out a manual for the control piece.:rockon:
Holding set goes into duty cycle, you don't want to use this unless you're trying to up the heat real quick and burn off residue from the nail.
Holding right arrow will start auto-tuning. AT light will begin to flash, wait for it to stop. Also used when changing heater types or setting it up using the pass through.
Other set options are for fine tuning beyond what we *need* to do. I know he had some setting he had me try out, didn't see a big difference. Auto tuning sets these parameters.
Up/Down arrows for setting temp!

Got one of OGCooks' friend's custom e-nails - it's really nice, really well made (better than I could do given the same parts). I've only had it a day so I can't speak about it's reliability yet but I don't foresee any issues - the guy that made it is super cool so I'm confident with the purchase. It is a total game changer for fullmelt/bubble - smear a little on a screen and put on the nail set around 760-780. I haven't even tried dabbing yet. The one thing I'm not over thrilled about is the nail - the included HE DualiTi is very nice and all but there is a lot of heat transfer to the base (more so than the InfiniTi or DE domeless) but it's certainly not a big problem (and no fault of the E-Nail), I have the DualiTi on a 18/18 adapter so there is a little more space between the bottom of the nail and the water piece - the joint on the water piece stays cool, the adapter heats up but that's OK by me. I'm hoping for a custom coil for my incomming Omni nail, but really the DualiTi works great (no issues with how well it works, I'm sure is just the design of the nail, nothing to do with the E-Nail device).

Using one of those high quality titanium screens? Seems like that works amazingly indeed

Yes, I am using Ti screens I bought from Aqualab. They are expensive, the youtube guys I saw do it first use Volcano screens which I believe are stainless steel and much less expensive. Flavor and effects are top notch, much better than other methods I have used for bubble.
