The HI

I can't speak for any differences between the new design and old design like some users can, but my HI is one of the originals I believe. It was in pics of the first batches of HIs.

The original ones pack a massive wallop and are so durable it isn't even funny. Alan offering em at a discount is a DEAL for anyone who wants to get working on becoming a Master JedHI.

I got the mail. So the actual waiting time is max 10 month. If you subscribed to the list in Feb-March... you'll get news soon ;). The fact I got the mail doesn't mean I'm sure about what I want...so many options and so many improvement on the HI has been done since I got on the list.

Is there anybody who already have a Glass Core unit? I would like to hear feedbacks why you choosed it, pros and cons vs the SS? I own a Wychwood for SS comparison. And thus I tend to go for the glass core as I'm taste lover and will have possibility to roast higher temp with some other vapes.

Bvapst, go with glass. Especially since you already got the WW. ;)

The HI runs hotter without a doubt, i'm sure it will run hotter with the glass core as well compared to the WW. And since you are a taste lover like myself, i don't see much of a choice than a glass core. :p

Sorry it doesn't show me exhaling. I hold hits for a long time.
Nice video! I love earl jr's stuff, I have the regular micro recycler. I seem to get the best water action when it's just about at the top of the can or level with the ring on the return path.

@Jeppy - Thanks for posting the video. Very cool. Exhaled vapor is just wasted anyhow.

I have been referring to the stainless steel part of the HI as the core, but it has really just become a heater cover with the latest design. I will start referring to them as heater covers for the new design.
Here is a photo of my stainless steel heater for the glass heater covers. It is a resistor covered with a stainless steel sleeve. No more glass beads. The main reason that I had glass beads on the heater wires was in case they got twisted while threading in with the old design. There is no chance of them twisting with the new design, so I will stop using the glass beads. They just add a tiny rattle.
Speaking of twisting. The top wire is twisted around the ss sleeve to support the heater like a spring so that it is not stressed by thermal growth. The twist keeps the heater centered and causes the air to spiral around. The ss heater will not fit into a ss heater cover. The ss sleeve is just not added to the heater for the ss heater cover. The glass heater cover has a bigger inside diameter than the ss hc. The screw hole pattern for the heater covers is the same for both, but they are not easily interchangeable.
The glass hc is supported by 6 aluminum prongs around the outside. The glass / heater weigh about 5 grams. It has very little mass to cause itself damage from the shock of a fall. The 6 prongs will absorb the energy to protect the glass.
I am finding the extraction is about the same between the glass and ss heater covers. It is just slower and tastier with the glass hc.

HIbrid core: glass w ss cover owner! I let it heat up a few minutes and can unplug power dongle and enjoy 3-4 hits of light vapor. Manual temp control for those without a vvps. As you can figure out it holds heat extremely well to say the least; use your breath to lower the temp if needed. As I stated before the taste/vapor at lower temp 10.2 even in the 9.0s, alot of terps I haven't tasted before. The level of medication from this work of art is outstanding and I can't compare it to anything else!

I am curious as to what the flavor and vapoor is like thru the WonG and tturbo tubes? I have never imagined packing a silicone tube. Nor have i ever used a wooden vape bowl.

I hope the straw inhale is not the only way to pack the stem? Hopefully normal packing works finr? Weak lungs

If you can turn a LSV iinto A HIsaber can you turn a SSV into a HI surfer??? Is it just the heater or what?

Whatsthe advantage of putting a HI heater in a lsv or ssv aside from usring it in a wood tube like intended?

Howdy! While my GonG tubes are my favorite, the WonG is a tasty diversion I take from time to time. A noticeable difference--more "earthy" if that makes sense. The flavor depends largely on the wood used.

I don't do a straw inhale anymore. I did for a couple weeks then went back to normal packing with my fingers. It's just fine--just don't pack it tight.

And sorry, friend, I don't have an SSV or LSV and can't help you there. Someone else here can, surely.

Cheers!

Hi Bvapst, I'm in the same stalling phase as yourself. I rec'd the email end of October and have been stalling since. As you said, so many options / decisions.

I'm leaning to the ss heater cover still as powerful extraction appeals to me. This quality is the primary appeal of the Cloud/EVO for me. Sometimes I would like to take just a few hits to medicate, but find with my SSV that several hits are needed to provide the full range of effects. Second in importance is taste. I may wait for impressions from others, but Alan lays it out plainly enough.

It's getting a bit quieter in here. Where are the latest HIs?? All gone to non-FC members maybe??

Come on guys, lets see some more of those new HIs!

Anybody in here already got a glass unit??
I'm currently in talks but haven't received an update in a week or so. Maybe because of the holidays? I'll post plenty when I get it.

Received my hybrid black walnut HI yesterday. I am a log vape convert - I was a fairly early PD adopter. I've always vaped through my 500 mL EHLE so I have a good idea of vapor volume / density produced. The HI gives larger hits than the PD and seems to toast them a little more, to my satisfaction.

Actually just got one of the old style Walnut units he had up for grabs without a wait! Going to make a nice Christmas present for my dad this year!
Planning on getting pictures later or tomorrow.
