The Lotus Vaporizer

My new Lotus kit arrived from EZV earlier this week and am pleasantly surprised to see the adjusted location of the stir stick on the newer vapor cap (on right with patent number). The stick location on new cap seems to have been moved outward by a few millimeters, perhaps from feedback here to presumably help clear more glass joints, adapters and downstems.

The stir stick on the old cap (v2 on left) collides with the joint of my gridded Sov downstem, preventing cap from seating all the way onto the wpa. The stir stick on new cap (v3 on right) clears the same joint due to the re-location.

More meatloaf Ma!
^ Just looked at mine no patent  Its official you have a V3!...also in the second photo the V3 sits flusher on the WPA is this correct? or just a fluke?. (edit) sorry looks like the poker pushes it up. So V3 seems like only the patent and more space for poker?

Placed the order 17 days ago, shipped 14 days ago.

Apparently it's cleared Border Customs 3 days ago. Coming from LA, I'd assume it be a straight shot to Vancouver.

In 3 days after BC border customs then, USPS STILL haven't gotten me the package. I've already delayed me vacation an entire day just so this thing would show up and it hasn't. Can't wait any longer. USPS fucking blows.

Guess I won't be getting to use this on the ski hill like I planned. Or at all until January when I come back to Vancouver :(

The USPS' ineptitude is not lost on me either.

The Lotus was supposed to be delivered today. I was home all day, no knocks on the door (needed signature confirmation). I take a look at the tracking, it said there was a notice left. I head over to the mailbox, nothing in the box. I head over to the good old Post Office, they said they have nothing, probably still with the carrier.

Just now, I came back from getting some food, and guess what's in my mail box: a bunch of letters, no package, no notice.

What is going on here?

I sold my MFLB and currently vapeless. Combustion isn't what it used to be.

What's the difference between V2 and V3?

Same here, Fenton... Shipped on the 13th, USPS Priority 2 Day, and still not here. Tracking says it's been in New Jersey since the 14th, no updates since. It's not EZVAPES fault...they are always great with me. I did receive my gorgeous bubbler today though. Can't wait to pair it with my Lotus! This masterpiece of glass is a percolating beast!!! And fits soooo nice in the hand!

Yes agreed, the difference between V2 and V3 seems to be the poker/stir stick location and patent number.

Would like to mention that the old v2 vapor cap's stir stick still clears most of my gear including several 14/18 low-pro reducers and downstems without issue. That said, out-of-the-box the new v3 cap fits more pieces.

Also had to peek underneath the hood...here is the inside of the brand new/unused v3 vapor cap. Not sure why there is discoloration on the inner plate, maybe as result of assembly process from factory?

Just curious...does the top of the seared plate look perfectly new? Thanks!

EDIT: Posted just before you posted your latest pics. I'd contact Lotus and ask for an explanation.

Definitely the assembly process. The diffusion plate has to be annealed (heated and softened) before it is formed.

For those having trouble getting amazing hits with a bubbler (scorthing, burning, etc), here's my two cents. Get your flame a little bit bigger than it is now, I have my torch on a pretty high setting. Not the highest, but close. Put the flame to the plate, very closely so the center of the flame is touching the plate, until it burns bright red. This will only and a few seconds. Begin to inhale immediately, and pull away the torch somwhat. Make it so the center is glowing a slight orange, not red. And once it's orange (or glowing), keep it there by adjusting the flame and inhalation speed. You will be able to take a hit for as long as you want without combusting or torching, I just took a 20 second rip (at least) with my bubbled using this technique, and there was so much vapor it was ridiculous, and it tasted amazing. First time I've felt my lungs fill up that much since I took my first dab. Never knew the lotus was capable of this. Make the center glow, just not red, and control your draw speed. With a proper bubbler I'm sure you'd have a similar experience. Now I can't move, great.

What version Lotus do you have though? The red burning spot was made harder to achieve at some point between version 1 and version 3, right?

OK. I tried what you said. I can see how it works with the right flame length. Thanks for the tip. Like many others here, I'm looking into a decent torch as my next upgrade for the Lotus. Dual flames sounds like the way to go. My torch that came with the lotus kit is usable, though sometimes erratic.

Double torch works amazing, in 2-3 seconds you get vapor , but also be careful as you need less time on the plate with a double torch.
I started using a single flame honest lighter with flame really high and I also torch close till I see it turning red then pull as far as I can till I can see a faint change in color at that distance, and I get a few huge tasty hits, the double torch gets me one giant hit and material is spent much faster.

Not much charring under the hood here... :) Even if someone manages to char it though there is minimum contact of the airway with the charred surface around the holes. I am talking hair thick contact around the already very small holes. Anyway. My advice is to keep hits hot and short to avoid charring almost completely.

The Lotus is the only vape I have tried so far that makes my eyes water and my lungs burn when I choose so. Who needs dubs???

Right? It's insane! I took a hit last night that made me cough silly. I was knocked out.

It has arrived. I am officially an owner of a Lotus vaproizer.

I cleaned up my bong and immediately went for the new WPA. On the first pull, the magnet on the WPA held tight to the vapor cap and the whole thing came off. Hasn't done it since but it was a nice surprise.

I'm going back to play with the Lotus.

Cheers!

Got the 14mm oregonglassblower glass pipe in today. It is really nice, fits perfectly w/the Lotus! The distance from the face is good, and the angle for viewing the top of the plate is spot on. It does look slightly different from the one pictured on the site, the bulb area under the 14mm connection looks to be more rounded so you can't "stand" this pipe up like it appears you might be able to do with the one in the original photo, which seems to have more of a square body, but its a very minor difference. I Like the shape of the mouthpiece too, very comfortable. Guessing glass thickness, its at least 3mil, feels sturdier than some of the J hooks I've used, but not by much. A little expensive, but definitely a good match. I'm happy with it, has that sort of gandalf feel to ti!

...and I'll admit, I mainly use the lotus w/a bubbler so I don't have as much experience with the air flow for using it dry, and it does get warm pretty fast where I was holding it at the bulb... but here's a quick vid

I would definitely love a vid of these two little beauties in action! :D The bubbler is tiny!!!!
First cursory review:
Wish I had a vid camera, or phone tripod, but don't right now. Anyway, my first tryout was both OUTSTANDING (Lotus w/OEM stem), and DISAPPOINTING (torch): the torch wouldn't fill/the butane can valve was leaking also...Shit! BUT!!! I did get 3 monstrous hits with the only 3 flames I could get before the torch poofed out. Put in a very small pinch. Good flavor, big vapor, almost spent, dry, but very light ABV...zero scorch! Learning curve must be near zero, and as I said - got my first 3 huge hits with my first and only 3 flames. Seems real easy to use, no fuss no muss. Feels like a Home Run! My heads in a good place now, so I won't stress too much over the faulty torch.
:smug::nod::clap::tup::rockon:

EDIT: I did get the hot plate red dot on all three huge cloudy hits...the vapor wasn't hot and the ABV was light. No scorch. I think the secret to a love affair with the Lotus V3 is to have the right working torch. l believe the Solo stem caps will fit the Lotus bowl, so stowing a session in the pocket with the Lotus cap beside it is a stealth maneuver. If the Solo stem caps don't fit, I'll find something that does.
