Discontinued Gn0me - lighter based vaporizers

With some practice and getting used to how to torch it. this is not very harsh however it is a bit tricky get get the torching the glass part right. so I think you should expect to accidentally combust once or twice maybe.

but once you have it down this is a really nice lil vape. get the one that goes through your bong. cause dry I do find this one a little more harsh than others.

again youth temp control is the key!

We're here to fuck shit up.
Personally, I prefer the slider. I had a chance to try the cone and it did not heat as evenly as the thinner slider. My slider toasts evenly with a single stir. A small rubber grommet affixed to the end of the slider mouthpiece will allow it to mate to a water pipe. The grommet I use mates airtight to a 14mm ground glass joint. I have yet to achieve combustion with my slider.

I don't know where to show you all I know is when you use paypal if you file a claim you always get your money back if it wasn't a gift. If you gifted it to avoid fees then you most likely won't be getting anything back. But I doubt Calen is in this to fuck over the customer. You do realize he blows these himself as he gets the order? I'm surprised it doesn't take longer then 6 weeks.

This is all correct.

VapeNStone, where did you get this info? Can you show me like somewhere on the paypal site where it says this?

I just wanted to post regarding the Paypal thing. There is a lot of stuff about Paypal they won't tell you or say right up front. That is, if the Paypal Buyer Protection page doesn't already tell you that you get your money back guaranteed, well they do. I've been using paypal for a super long time, I've had to file claims with other people and other people have filed claims against me. It sucks but with every single claim against me I worked it out by talking with whoever sent me money and coming to an understanding. you can get paypal to stop the claim if you call them or email them enough (they will take days to respond and you'll deal with many automated emails).

I just wanted to speak up on the paypal thing real quick. I also just bought a gnome on a total whim.

Has anyone been able to get a hold of Calen recently?

I contacted him a few months ago looking for a replacement heater section to my Cone, and possibly picking up a funnel too.

I waited a while, and didn't get a 2nd response :(

I checked his site, and it mentioned a move to a new shop, so I figured my message maybe got lost in the move, but I've tried contacting him twice now through the contact form on the site and haven't heard back...

I'm not upset or anything, I just want to get back to the gnoming :brow:

If anyone has contacted him recently, could you let me know (through PM I guess) how you got a hold of him?
TIA

I ordered a slider over five weeks ago using Paypal. I received the order confirmation immediately, but have heard nothing since. I have received no response to my email request for order status.
Does anybody have any ideas what I should do next?
I really don't want to resort to the Paypal dispute resolution process and I don't mind waiting for the product, but the Paypal dispute must be started within 45 days so I may have no other choice.

Same situation here -- I ordered some glass in August and haven't received it or any further information. I've tried to contact Calen but he is unresponsive, though he already took my PayPal payment. At this point I'd definitely have to recommend against ordering anything from gn0me. If anyone has any suggestions or knows how to contact him, please do let me know.

My suggestion is for you guys to read the thread as this is a common question.

Calen takes a long time to make them but he always did, and he didn't answer my emails as well.

So, it seems Calen is kinda MIA at the moment, I've tried contacting him a few times over the last couple of months, with no answer, and I've seen in another thread a member say they've done some digging, and apparently the aquarium folks are also having trouble getting a hold of him.

So, I'm pretty bummed, as I broke my heat exchanger a while ago and would really like to rock my gnome again.
I was planning on grabbing one of the new funnel ones too :(

It seems like something that could be relatively easily reproduced by another blower, has anyone had any luck trying to go through another blower?

Are there any specific specs that I'd need another blower to reproduce?
All I can think of right now is basically "a glass tube with a whole bunch of ice pinches in it"

Erf, hope he rejoins soon.

What should i do with an order pending since november?

i sure hope your money wasn't taken from your account. if it was.... i would probably see what it takes to try and get it back. a dispute perhaps??

Yeah, this time it seems he is gone for good. :S

I wanted to get a funnel as well. I guess he pursued other business ventures. haha.

I think paypal and credit cards have policies for these cases. I don't know about the timing though, i think there is limited time to file a dispute.

@ Mr McGuire, i think it is just a DBV wand with dents poked in it to be honest.

He was just smart enough to think of that when no one did. The Vapocane is similar but not nearly as sturdy or with as much heat retention from what i gather.

I might do the same with an EU blower for the heating tube and get a male-female adapter as a bowl.

I still have my gong though, so it's just in case this one breaks.

Fred,
You may want to PM @charliedontsurf about this as I know he has toyed around with these and has some good knowledge about how they are made. Good luck!

The vapocane is actually thinner glass and more prone to breaking, I have experience with the original gong, the vapocane, and a custom vapocane. The original vapocane is thinner glass however functions nearly the same way albeit with a much smaller bowl.

I'm really honored that you'd mention me Stu, and indeed I'd be happy to help people out with replacement parts if they have Gn0mes out of commission. Anyone looking for parts should just PM me. I hope Calen reappears and takes up the torch again, though. I really enjoyed his posts here and especially on another glassblowing forum.

Giving advice and sharing info about sourcing materials via PM is perfectly fine, CDS. But if you decide to ever sell those things on the forum, I'm sure you know to contact @vtac first so he can get his 70% cut. :goon:

I went through the PayPal dispute resolution process and today I received my refund from PayPal.

Hi all. I have been interested in ordering a vaporizer from Gn0me (see gnomeglass.com). However, I noted on these forums that there have been some issues with orders being fulfilled a few months back. I did e-mail them to see if they are operational at the moment, but I heard that they typically take a good bit to respond to emails. Has anyone had any recent experiences with Gn0me? Have you ordered and received your product within a reasonable time frame? Thanks for any responses

I read this post beginning to end and was so excited to order until I got to the end. Has anyone heard from this guy as of late? Any experiences with people ordering recently and receiving their product? It seems like the best thing out there for my purposes after a LOT of research and it's a shame that it doesn't look like orders are coming through any longer... Any input would be great

sad to hear the gn0me went out of business. i had an unresolved warranty issue from about a year ago pending. unfortunatelly, after initial correspondence i've never heard from Calen again. as much as i appreciate the artistic value of the gn0me, it never became a heavily used unit for me. i'm pondering to sell my two and half gn0me classics now.

I also ordered a gnome slider vape back in October 2013. Emailed several times . No response at all . In fact emailed them again today . I wonder how many people got burned for 32 bucks . Karma is a bitch though . He will get what's coming if he hasn't already. Not cool at all though . Nor, professional -joe

Hi all. With the gn0me being out of commission, has anyone found a suitable replacement? I have been using the vapolution pocket. In all honesty, it's quite sufficient, but it's no gn0me (at least, not according to what I've read)...

I do intend on ordering the new VripTech wand once it is available for an all glass vapor path, but until then, any suggestions for anything that can stand up to the gn0me? I've also considered the vapocane as something that is somewhat comparable (with a glass screen).

Never used the gn0me but can attest to the vapocane being a decent little vape. A smaller water tool is recommended IMO as you don't want it to glug away crazily as accidental combustion is a very real possibility until you dial into it. Great taste.
P.s I'd buy a gn0me also if they ever came back around.
