Great Scott!
Volcano in my pocket!

Such a stupid claim to be making, but we will see how the vape performs. Thank god its usually not the engineers in charge of marketing!

Wow, thanks for that clip! Glad I ordered a gray one!

Let us know when you get word of impending shipment. Seriously considering ordering one...saving 27 bucks is better than nothing. But the price and lack of usage makes me nervous.

Pretty straight forward review and what I expected to see more or less. I like it very much except from the battery part... Being able to change batts on the fly is a plus of course! It seems like a very serious approach to vaporizers and I believe it will be with us for a long time.
I am already seeing people wanna place a second screen on top of the load to keep herbs in place but that's minor. I am also sure it will taste pretty sweet compared even with the Solo. This thing looks pretty well built as well. It could be made by Samsung or Nokia from what I can tell.
I want to congratulate owners beforehand as it will certainly be a very special experience for them and pity for me that I won't be able to get it any time soon! :(

So far it looks like the most impressive battery powered portable vaporiser out there... :D I can't think of a direct competitor right now!

Now HERE'S a portable that actually looks like it could compete with desktop vapes in the vapor production department as long as it doesn't take the full 400 degrees to produce those kinds of clouds. That temp is a bit high for my tastes. I wonder how much draw speed affects the temps.

I like that you can switch out batteries, but 20 draws on one charge is not very much. Still looks like a real cloud producing portable.

If it doesn't have a PerpetuHeat kind of system under the hood, and it doesn't, it should be greatly affected by draw speed. It is fully manual, like the Lotus, only difference is that the heat applied is standard, not so greatly varied as with the Lotus. Think of it as a convection MFLB. PRETTY SWEET! You also have the chance of pulsating the heat button so you get lower temp vapour so it should have a very broad spectrum of temps. After the small learning curve of course... :)

Nice vid, Love the design of this vape. Looks really easy to clean and it checks all the right boxes for me: Convection, removable battery, simple operation, great build quality. cera minis got some serious competition. Gotta agree with the vape critic that this seems better suited as an around the house vape though. Its a little on the chunky side for a portable.

If you listen to the SoundCloud interview that was linked earlier, you'll get some insight into the design. The designers had good goals but they do reveal a little ignorance of the market they're entering. They're clearly not fully aware of what's out there, but I don't think that matters much insofar as the design is concerned.

I think they missed their goal for ease of use slightly. As Vape Critic points out, there is some technique to learn, which is what I expected based on the design. It's not just push-and-hit, but it also doesn't look like it will take much to figure out.

I like that they've limited the temperature (no combustion) but I think that 400°F (~204°C) is a bit on the low side. People wanting (or needing) high temperatures will not get what they want here. On the other hand, I prefer low temperature vapour so for me it will be just fine.

I prefer devices that provide heat-on-demand , so the Firefly is appealing to me. They don't think it has any competition but I'm sure they've never seen (much less used) the FV, which can deliver as much power as the FF to the heater, but doesn't limit it. (That's both a blessing and a curse, because it's easy to hit combustion in the FV.) To be honest, I'm not sure how much value there is to being able to deliver 40W but capping the temperature as low as they have. Also, Vape Critic doesn't mention how hot it gets, but I have to think that the heater end of that thing gets pretty warm.

A proprietary battery is a negative, and it will be interesting to see what the battery lifetime will be. If they've revealed what the battery chemistry is, I missed it.

Overall though, for me the positives outweigh the negatives by a good margin. I'm looking forward to trying one of these.

Like all of them, assuming the vape tastes good and is not too difficult to learn, it's going to come down to...

Build Quality>>>Dependability>>>Longevity = Price Paid.

I will admit though, it looks like this market is FINALLY being taken seriously as evidenced by the quality of the newer designs. I hope the days of throwing substandard products at us at ridiculous prices are done just because of the nature of their intended use.

I was excited about this but after watching vape critic's video I'm pretty disapointed. For me a portable vape needs the ability to be taken anywhere, and stealthy, whilst being able to deliver a good amount of sessions before needing to be recharged. I'm sure it is a quality vape, but all the major cons completely ruin the point of being portable in my eyes.

-First off the chamber is really tiny, when I'm out in public I need the ability to have at least 3-4 sessions with one pack. Having to constantly refill and stir/clean the bowl during every session completely defeats the purpose of stealth. Sure, I could be a ninja, but there are other portables that don't require me to.

-The Battery life... :(. Sure you can change the battery, but when I am on the go, I am already carrying enough in my pockets to be lugging around spare batteries I may or may not use. So what if they charge fast, I think most people agree battery duration is more important than charge time (for plenty of reasons)

-Learning curve when vaping. This isn't too big of a deal but I like to pass around my vape sometimes and bring it with me when I'm out with friends. I don't want to have to explain this to everyone I pass my vape too, and as simple as these little steps are for optimal vapor production, it is something that would easily be misunderstood or ignored by people new to vaporizing, or someone who is impatient.

-Size... I expected it to be a bit closer to the size of a pax

IMHO the Pax and the Ascent are way ahead of this vape when it comes to portability, not to mention they are both capable of vaping concentrates.

This is huge, I get that puppy dog, half cocked head, WTF look when I hand it to someone (women mostly) with a few simple instructions on a vape's operation. But then again, I guess that can be said for a lot of them.

With the way this tech is progressing, a super automatic is probably a little ways down the road.

Strictly from a design perspective, even the inside battery compartment was thought of, and looks good. Every part of the vape was approached by the design team with an eye on function and design seamlessly intertwined. That's not easy to do.

We are all thinking it, so I'll just say it. Its a damn sexy vape!

I don't like the pax for concentrates personally, just doesn't get hot enough in my opinion. And seeing all the issues my buddies went through with their ascents I am just unsure if I want to risk going thru the same problems. This FireFly is huge for me, I think his will become my new daily driver. Can't wait to get my hands on one.

LOL, this is exactly what I am talking about.

Ugh I just recently purchased an omicron, excited me felt like showing it off to everyone. I let this one girl use it and she decided to hold down the heat button for almost 30+ seconds after I told her to prime it for 6 seconds, wait 5, and then take 6-10 second hit. I was just sitting there all like
ohgodpleaseno.gif
(in my mind). She totally misunderstood me for being stingy, when the whole cart could have gotten burnt out with .7 grams hash oil, and luckily it didn't leak.

Besides all this it is just awkward explaining to people how to properly use a vape that from any amateurs point of view assumes there is nothing more to it than pushing a button or inhaling. There is nothing that makes me more anxious than someone who doesn't understand the concept of slow, long drags.

I placed a pre-order. The 10% discount plus the vid persuaded me. At 243 it's a bit cheaper than a Pax, which I had also been considering.

The learning curve thing doesn't bother me...my wife of 23 years isn't all that crazy about me handing vapes to other women for use. :-) (ok truthfully it never comes up.)

I love the design, the convection, the heat-on-demand aspect. 400 degrees seems a bit low, but if it produces clouds like in the vid, it's hot enough for me.

I'm kinda excited about it. If it sucks and I hate it, I'll sell it.

Putting some concentrates on cotton, and loading that up in the Firefly might work, but at only 400 degrees, you might get marginal results. And made damn sure no cotton goes near the elements; a double screen might help.

There are a lot more flowers in the world than concentrates, so I feel sticking with that market for now makes sense. Soon, in a perfect world, wax on wax off for everyone, not just us in states with awesome laws. But right now its more rare than a Quadricorn for folks that don't.

There is always the Firefly 2.0! (getting a tad ahead of myself)

Well it seems Da Vinci has fixed most of the problems with the Ascent, and with all new vaporizers I'm sure there will be some problems with the firefly. and whether or not you enjoy concentrate out of the pax is irrelevant because the firefly is designed for flower only, it is just another advantage pax has on firefly. maybe you could drop a little wax into the FF oven, but if vape critic was having clogging problems strictly with flower, I would'nt even try it.
