We could always start another thread to discuss the best Captain/series in Star Trek. ;)

Indeed we could!
Curses, XenForo won't let me link to a specific time. Jump to 1m24s.

@Stu, while there's no doubt Shatner was highly egotistical in those days, he's re-made himself into a charming and really funny guy. He's also made the documentary The Captains, which anyone interested in this topic should watch. (The link is to a low-res version, 360p.)

Shatner has always been a pompous ass, thinking everyone should cater to him. He even threw a childish fit when he found out he would not be cast for Trek 2009, and refused to even help Chris Pine. Grow up asshole.

I'll go with Picard! We actually got to meet Patrick Stewart this year, and he is a very nice, humble man!

I hate people that are dicks in real life, and I will give them no praise for it.

I've gotta agree with @Stu on this No contest it's Capt. KIRK !! The First OG ( and I do mean Gangsta) KIRK.
Yes he's a Prick sometimes But He Is "The KIRK , Face Of The Star Trek".... if not Kirk then Capt Pike.
That's what I say. But then again I'm baked and it's only 13:00. FUN FUN FUN.

Shatner IS Star Trek to me as I grew up watching it every week with my dad, so yeah I'll probably always be biased.

:peace:

I grew up watching Buzz Corey and the Space Patrol, the original Star Trek crew.

And listen to the phrasing of Buzz Corey and you can see where Shatner got his phrasing clues from.

This was the pinnacle of special effects:

I dug both kirk and picard, but would give the nod to the original series & captain just for hamming it up the most. I also think the original stands up to time better as more of a cult series than gen II.

But overall I gotta agree with @Hexi, the best series & captain was ds9 & sisko :ninja: :2c:

Best series and most realistic captain, DS9 and Sisko.
Coolest, Sisko (come on, he's Avery fuckin Brooks).
But best overall? though I grew up with Kirk, and he's a Member of the Tribe (I'm a Jewish bulldog), gotta be Picard. I can smell his alpha-ness from here. I get a whiff from the others, but that dude is like bacon.

That's funny about Shatner and Chris Pine, since Pine's Kirk is a bigger a-hole than Shatner's.

Has anyone seen the miniseries or movie that had Shatner interviewing the other captains? It made me appreciate Kate Mulgrew a lot more. Also, Sir Patrick had an interesting childhood.

Are you talking about the one that I just quoted that pakalolo previously posted?

Has to be Picard for me. His voice acting ability, also the type of character he has, I kind of think like him too. I like the way he solves problems by thinking, kinda reminds me of Odysseus.

Data...... Data, Picard and Worf are the main reason I love TNG so much.
