next generation e-nails?

You were not complete - you just said a negative fluff comment about the original plug. You didn’t say, they changed it to a much smaller version based on customer feedback and request. Also there is a trade-off on plug design/size and reliability. That isn’t complete in my opinion. You gave partial data in favor of of the product you like.

Don’t care what HE says, clearly they don’t understand based on their product issues. I studied this in college and trust my text books and math. Not going to argue, we will agree to disagree. I have no agenda to make anybody believe me or change their mind, only present my knowledge, do what you want with it.

Not sure where you are coming from on the reliability. Are we talking the D-nail product or the HE version. The D-nail version reliability issues I have not heard off. I have seen 8 units, all 100% functional. NVS had 6+ for Black Friday all 100% functional. Mine works and over a month old, used daily a lot so the data I have is different and first hand.

Is your data 1st hand or heresy i.e 2nd hand?

Not trying to upset anybody or argue. Only presenting my knowledge to be informative to us consumers. Please take it at that.

Finally, I hope we are talking about the D-nail product - not the HE version. The GHE version was a POS and pulled from the market months ago. The D-Nail is a different product from someone else. So far I am pleased with it and I am hard to easy technically. It isn’t perfect though. I like the idea to display the temp and stay on until safe on this one. Also the twin read out is better. You know what you set it to and where is it.

BTW the standard D-Nails use the same cable now, only the 1.1 rev used the cable like mine. They made the new one standard which is a good decision because that cable is its weak link. It is not flexible and one must be careful with it or you will lose a pipe like me, a recycler bit the dust last week so yes its isn’t perfect at all, but is is a well made unit and works well.

I am getting a quartz nail and will compare them. I have no 1st hand experience yet, so what I state is theory and experience with domeless quartz nails. We will see, I am keeping an open mind about which is better...

Anyone remember peltier junctions from the earlier days of keeping silicon wafers cool? They're usually encased in porcelain, giving a nice clean area, get as extremely cold on the reverse side, possibly giving a secondary effect of extreme cooling in the airpath..

I know current technology can't give a temp delta of more than a couple hundred degrees without huge currents (or extreme voltages - most top at at ~15v), but it just seem like such a novel, techy, clean way to reinvent the nail...

I have zero agenda. I swear I gain nothing here and I paid for my unit. I'm only stating what I know.

Purple Ringer and Pipe Dreams, 2 LHS's both talked me out of d-nail saying they had a huge failure rate. Both stores aren't selling them anymore because of the failure rate plus there had been a lot of complaints about the connector. I started shopping when I first saw an e-nail on youtube and immediately thought it could be a potential replacement for my defunct cloud.

Photorider, I have nothing but the utmost respect for you and think you are a legend around here but, with that being said and no disrespect to you I was told to stand clear of the d-nail.

When OG said his buddy was going to sell the prototype to help fund production units I couldn't let it go.

Now if the connector should be a brick for safety reasons should I be nervous?

I don't like the size of the plug, it's a fact it's large. I don't follow the D-Nail so I don't have up to date information on their plug style or revisions. I have seen the large one, I commented on the large one.

I don't know the real differences between Ti and Quartz thermally, I didn't study it, I was passing along information I heard from what I believe is a reliable source. You may very well know better than them.

The information is from what I heard second hand from a shop. @mvapes was the one who talked to them and addressed it above.

I don't see why you make it like you're almost being hostile in what I'm saying. The D-Nail may very well be a solid unit. I haven't told anyone NOT to get one have I? I'm not even making any money from the sales of my friend's E-Nails, I just want to assist him and promote a quality product. I have a very open mind to this situation and seeing what all companies are offering.

With all that aside, tested the additional feature that his E-Nail has that I KNOW the D-Nail does NOT have and CAN NOT do based on their design. Hopefully making a video tomorrow.

Actual, I was commenting about OG’s post, not yours @mvapes :)

I am not mad or looking down at anybody. I firmly believe that product from OG’s friend is sweet and the controller is an upgrade for sure. I think I also understand what else it can do (OG hinted that it could do other things, but couldn’t say). Wouldn’t say though until OG says. Not my place. But if you think about it, the controller is made to control a heater, where else do we use a heater other that vape nails :) oh, I broke my rule...

I’m a positive guy. I like to describe on the positive side mostly. I try not to degrade the others. If the item is good and has good thing about it, it will sell itself w/o needing to degrade anything :) You build, not tear down...

BTW - not saying you (@mvapes) or @ogcook are doing that. I wouldn’t say that w/o more knowledge of the intend and there is not enough data that states that w/o a benefit of doubt :) I was just trying to vector it up positive (probably poorly done though). What I was saying to OG that since you stated it was from a friend it will be easy to have your opinion tempered if you are not fair. Just that and to state the positives about what I know (and areas for improvement)

I want both products to thrive and progress. We benefit from that. Eventually the price will drop as they products mature. If its an one trick pony, then that will not happen :)

Finally, yes the plug is BIG and most will hate it. They made the choice based on an engineer’s opinion, not an user like yourself... So they reacted to the user... I think that’s a good thing - right? However, I’m an engineer so I picked the larger one and yes its big and in da way. A major trade-off and in the end I doubt the smaller version will fail before the heater or in many years if you don’t constantly replug it in/out. So I think it was a good decision on both products

@PhotoRider great response!
I know you think it's just for heating nails, but with his unit there's a few more cables one can stick in the back of the unit and get creative with!
Oh, I don’t think its just for heating nails. Oh no, I think it may do other material heating in other ways :)

Let me go on record here. I see this product from OG’s friend an improvement. I like that - forces everyone to improve to keep up. WE as consumers benefit. I will not degrade this product. I only know what people who have them say and I do believe them on the benefits. I want this product to succeed and create a feature vacuum of any other e-nail product :)

Since there is a controller, there should be an attachment to vape flowers too. I'm thinking Nano style. Just plug it in?

Anyway, sweet discussion. Sweet products. They're all too pricey for me, but I would love to try one.
I thought about asking him is some form of 12v control for log vapes, but since it's all running a biiiit higher than that I didn't think it would be practical. But possibly something designed specifically for it could work wonderfully! All else fails use the coil like an herb iron!

Just passing time
Well, the ENano is not 12v. It's running good ol' 120v ac. My electrical physics knowledge hasn't been used in some time, but I thought it might work if somebody adapted the idea.

the heat control is used in very high end souvee equiptment. The set up could easily power and precisely heat an immersion circulator.

My mistake! I have/had the Underdog and Heat Island so I'm usually thinking 11-14v :mental:
The nano could work! Or at least something just like it.

I wonder if this could be used to heat a UFO kit sublimator. Like bassically make the torch version an electric version for when your at home...? How big is the ID of the coil?
"Dish Diameter: .835 in (21.21 mm)"
According to ALT, not sure exactly where that measures to though. Or in relation to the sublimator.

I'll tell you anotheer important factor. I've now tried two e-nails. One thing that I noticed was that when using the other unit (both units set at 800 degrees F) the temperature dropped by about 30 to 40 degrees when hit on. On my unit it drops 5 to 10 degrees.

If I use a carb cap it's fucking mind boggling how fast she cools! It sucks that I'm so fucking lazy or I would totally shoot a video. Sorry for being a DICK!

Does this matter to me? Fuck no, but when chatting with a few heavy hitters they said it mattered and in the interest in being cool I agree damn it!

What's the ID of your buddy's enail coil? I'm thinking if I found a coil that could slip over my atomizer of my sub, or for the top heater to sit in and get hot, I may be able to use my torch sub as an electric one. It's either that or I wait till the TI apollo comes out and who knows how much that will be

VAPOLITICS!
Hello hello long time no talk but I must come here to show our last aquisition for Xmas:

It is the Temp Temple Electric Dabvenue (the name of the company is about to change).

I am very pleased with this unit and the build quality. Let see the quality of the coils on long term.
I received 2 quartz "enails" by Joe Halen and 2 "quartz honey" hole by Mr Halen too and I'm very pleased with the fit and flavors with those!
I have 15 mm, 20 mm, 28 mm coils
The units we have for the shop are the first EU, dual units ever out there and you can switch from 110 to 220V with a simple button...LOVE IT!
Will come back for a long report/review pretty soon!

Is it just me, or am I the only one not the least bit interested in coils/attaching a coil to an existing nail?
There's a lot of talk of unprofessional looking DIY coil E-nail tech and very little talk of the consumer ready smart-dabb or e-nailator (sublimator e-nail).

IMO those are the only true e-nail consumer devices, everything else is just expensive hacked together soldering equipment....
the non hacked together stuff is cheaper, so why even bother with this unproven crap? (Especially when the HE one failed as bad as it did)

I am thinking of investing in a smart-dabb because the build quality looks superior to the sub e-nailator, you can get the digital version for a bit less than the sub, and the classic for 1/2 the price. The only thing I am debating is that, classic or digital?
It seems digital is capable of getting hotter, or maybe I'm reading the site wrong, but classic appears to be 700F; digital starts at 700F and maxes out at 950F.

Maybe it's the Parkinsons but what do you mean? Which is the one true enail. Mine was put together privately but I would put it up against any enail on the market.

Or, are you comparing the sub's oil rig against an enail? No defense, just asking?

And just to go over the D-nail, at one point they were one of the only players out there. When the competition was sparse by all mean the D-nail was the cat's meow just like 10 years ago the Volcano was the same. Not as long of a time difference but were talking about fucking technology.

The units today with the small connections will some day be old technology as well. That's not to say any of use stuff, whether you have something home made, or the d-nail, wont work anymore.

Shit, I still no people who only use a MFLB. To me, I use them in the bathroom is we lose power in a hurricane - to him it was his daily driver.

That's choice just like each of us when it comes to e nails and shit. Just wait till the electric quartz shit hits, great back to the fucking ATM!

It's just the way it is. The life of a weed nerd....:disgust:

if I'm not mistaken you can move the coil between nails as well, I've seen vids where a coil is used with a quartz nail. seems like the coil options give you more flexibility - you can use the coil with different nails and it's easy to change out the nail - I guess it's whatever you like
EDIT - just like the pics a few posts up (duh)

That quartz nail even looks like it uses the same plug type as the units my friend is making.
The e-nail is more about the unit it self IMO, you can switch out to any coil and they're all pretty much using the exact same materials.

appears that the Smart Dabb isn't domeless, I'm also curious about how it heats - does the whole nail get hot or just the head? I believe I'd prefer the coil option, but the Smart Dabb does look nice.
