Too funny.

Hope he doesn't get carjacked by Tampax...wow, that was really bad...

Strange perspective.....all the Capitalists I know what to sell their products to as many as possible.
IMO it's BS protectionist duties and stuff, from your side of the border, that make it difficult. No maker I can think if thinks high shipping rates are a good plan. That's what makes marketing to our brothers to the North tough, not some lame dislike of Canadian money. IMO you Cannuks are doing it to yourselves?

I have to agree with OF. I do most of my online shopping with American companies and I am treated very well regularly. The Americans don't control our ridiculous shipping rates or duties, our government does.

@chester222

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. But unjustified remarks like that give us Canadians a bad name.

Hey, Nunavut Tripper

Good to hear from you.

It has been CRAZY warm here! We only have about 6" of snow on the ground, no wind and the temperature is about -10 C ! There is also more humidity in the air than normal...like winter in Ontario. I'm not complaining, however, as I have hardly had to shovel at all:tup: Actually been using my portable vapes outside! Cool.

How is your weather? How are you enjoying the Ascent?

For up here this time of the year, -10 Celcius is heaven! But I agree, it certainly isn't warm, relatively speaking. It is surprising how quickly you adapt to the weather. ...but I cannot wait to retire to the tropics as I prefer sun, sand and palm trees.

I have a 250cc dirt bike that I can ride about 3 months per year.

Anyhow, I had better let this thread get back on topic! Hope your Ascent experience turns out very positive in the long run, my Friend.

All the best.

We've had a nice fall with lots of pleasant weather and one light snowfall.

I just got my Burl Ascent last Tuesday and am still playing around with it learning it's nuances.
Everything works ,fit and cosmetic finish is fine and I'm enjoying my new little toy except for one thing...the taste and smell is gross. When I took it out of the package I did a dry run and the smell of tires or new rubber boots permeated my small office. I took everything apart and cleaned with ISO,
did some more dry runs to get the smell out and the stink was still strong. I loaded it with herb and it dominated the herbal taste and smell so I cleaned it up again, gave it another battery charge and went on a long road trip for work yesterday with an empty bowl and just kept cycling it at the highest temp.
It is starting to tone down so I vaped a load of herb last night and although better my wife who has very discriminating taste turned her nose up at it.

Another cleaning this morn plus a dry run and yes the smell is starting to go away so I'm being patient as I know I'm not the only one to complain about this issue.
The silicone can't offgas forever so I'm confident the problem will correct itself with further use.

I bought some glass beads and am experimenting with loading the bowl and am still not getting huge clouds
but I did get nicely blazed so the little bugger does work as intended.
After whining about the taste , a half our later wifey was giggling away at something silly on her computer so I guess it worked for her too. LOL

Outstanding! I hope it gets better every day. If and when I do jump, I plan on getting the Burl one as well. As there are no trees up here, I thought the wood finish would be nice to look at.

All the best to you and your wife.

Nope, no Arctic Crocs. Maybe the Croc Skin would be a better choice:tup:
How far north are you? Are you actually on the Arctic Ocean? How long would it take you to drive to Toronto [or Saskatoon or Winnipeg]- if the roads go that far north? Or would you fly?

Actually the tire smell is quickly disappearing . It was pretty strong the first day but is much weaker now after several sessions and empty bowl burnoffs in fact this evening I loaded it with a stronger flavoured strain than I had been using and it was quite enjoyable...decent cloud and pleasant taste.
Even my wife approved...yay.
I can still smell a bit of the nasty smell when running an empty bowl if I hold my nose up to the crack so I expect it to be gone in a day. Just uncured silicone as was discussed in past threads.
Glad I don't have to send it back as it's a slick little machine with some nice features and it's fun to use.

As I already pointed out, there are hardly any duties on goods crossing the Canada/US border. A vapourizer with proper Customs declarations is duty-free. There is this little thing called NAFTA, you might have heard of it.

Hi, Nesta

I currently reside in a place called Baker Lake (N 64.3194 and W -96.0208) in the territory of Nunavut. You have to fly into all 25 of the communities up here as there are no roads. Although Baker Lake is the only community NOT situated directly on the Arctic Ocean, I have lived in several others that are. Baker Lake is also one of the coldest places in the North due to our winds. We regularly get temperatures of -58F (with windchill) in the winter and it has gotten colder than that. The coldest I have ever been in was -99F (with windchill) in a place called Alert. Here is a link to a map of Nunavut, to put things into perspective:

http://members.shaw.ca/kcic1/mapnu.html

The furthest North I have ever been is 25 miles from the North Pole. I had the privilege of flying in with a group of scientists stationed in Alert. We had to camp 25 miles short of the Pole due to extreme weather. Ultimately, we had to turn back. Sadly, I had to fly out the next day and missed the second attempt. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to wait to speak with Santa and give him shit for not bringing me that red bike I wanted when I was 10. Fat jolly bastard!:cuss:

Anyhow, if you want to know any more, please feel free to PM me. I can send you pictures of polar bears, Inuit, etc. if you wish. I won't be offended if not!:)

Now, back to your regularly scheduled ASCENT programming...

All I can say is why oh why?
Hi, Dreamerr

First off, please let me start by saying that I cannot get enough of those lips! Like being in a trance just staring at them...lol:o

With all due respect to the Inuit, I'll be happy to leave the Arctic. I'm a sun, sand and palm tree kind of guy and cannot wait to retire to the tropics. Also want to treasure hunt in the Caribbean as a hobby...someday.

I'm here because there is a spot in my heart for the Inuit, at least the ones who wish to get educated, work hard and improve the overall quality of their lives. And to be completely honest, the money is killer. It will allow me to retire in my mid-late 40s.

I am Bipolar II and cannot wait to get work out of the way so that I can really concentrate on getting healthy. I have controlled this on my own with MJ (no meds) and it has allowed me to function remarkably well. Unfortunately, the mental health 'professionals' still have their noses stuck in their textbooks and don't realize the benefits it can have for folks like me as well. It also helps with my occassional migraines. I don't suffer in the same way many of you do, but not having control of your brain from time to time is scary as hell.

Sorry for the looooooooong response...and the boring details.

Hope you are well today.:)

Thank you, Dreamerr.

I've actually had tears in my eyes reading of the misery you and others here go through daily with your severe pain. ...and I'm not one to cry or get too emotional. I have loved ones who suffer as well and it breaks my heart.

Keep the faith. You are obviously a very strong woman. All the best to you and your loved ones.

I would personally wait.

I was order 5104 and rma number 438 which roughly shows a 10% defect rate.

Plus when usps tried to deliver my return to them at 10 am on a Wednesday, they weren't in and left them a notice which they deny receiving. So my package has sat at their local post office for a week and I'm out an extra week. They would not go pick it up so I had to reschedule the delivery for them myself. All they did was try to apologize which at this point has been meaningless since they have not offered any solutions or remediation. Now since I had to reschedule delivery on a 2 day priority mail package, I can't track it anymore (a usps issue) which makes the chances of my package getting lost again so much greater. All they told me was that they can't go to the post office to get it. They only have 2 people working in the customer service/return department, Aaron and Nicole, neither of which has helped made this go any smoother.

I'm 1 day from filing a dispute with my cc company. I already did all the work for them in rescheduling the delivery and if they're not there again when they are supposed to be I'm not waiting around any more. Its already been an extra week since they were supposed to get it and who knows how long it will take them to process the exchange.

Keep in mind that the company makes plenty other items for the last few years, including the original DaVinci, and things like accessories and essential oils. The majority of those order numbers are *PRE*-Ascent. RMA numbers are the same. So you are not looking strictly at Ascent numbers in either case.

RMA# I got on 11/27 was 640. Shipped 11/27, they received yesterday, I quote from Aaron in an e-mail received today, "The shipping department is a little behind. Your replacement should go out very soon."

They sell more than one product and spares and replacement parts and just went through a well known replacement of the first release of Ascents, so doubt that your defect rate is correct.

Most small companies in the US shut down early for Thanksgiving Holiday and took Friday off as well. Your timing for a two day priority mail delivery was going to sit until Mon even if it had been received.

What I find concerning is they only having two people handling customer service/returns. What about QC/shipping??

As much as I still love the Ascent, I have ordered a Solo as a back up piece, as it appears reliable and combusting while waiting for the Ascent turnaround has been unbearable. My major concern is that a new failure seems to be occurring at the 30-40 day period. I hope that I am wrong, but if I was looking for a new unit, I would have to pass on the Ascent for now and keep an eye on this site for an all clear.

That was hard to say.

2 people that answer phones and emails. There is apparently a separate shipping department.

They told me personally they worked wed and friday. I'm just pissed they lost the notice and refused to pick up the package. It says notice left 10:07 am Nov 27 in las vegas 89123.

Now I have no way to actually track it without calling their local post office again so who knows if will actually be delivered and received by someone.

That only makes the defect rate higher. I doubt people return accessories. Just look at the jump in rmas the last 2 weeks.

When I returned my unit, part of the process was sending them the tracking info so they knew when it was to arrive. Is that the case for you also?

If it is and they had that info, you're rightly pissed.

My unit is on day 47 of ownership, and knock on wood, still going strong.

Yeah I sent them the tracking info right after I got home from the post office. Told them it would get there wednesday and everything. All I've heard from them is "this has never happened before".

I even told them the day it was going to arrive that morning. I don't get why the usps didn't just leave the package for them though but regardless someone should have been there at 10 am. Thats clearly within their business hours.

They did track it and saw the notice left but claimed to never have gotten the notice. And they said even if they did they can't pick it up from the post office whatever baloney that is.

Woot just got an email saying they got it and will ship out a replacement.

When they shipped yalls replacement, was it a brand new unit with a new box and everything that came with it? Or did you only get a unit and charger?

It will be the entire unit (glass, jars, etc)

Hopefully I'll get the same email soon. I called the post office to have mine redelivered. Same situation. Notice left on 11-27.
