The WISPR vaporizer

Hi,
just a little thing I noticed:
- at the manufacturer site the wisp2 is priced at $200, but if you change the currency, its 189 euro. This is about $250 at current rate...*

I am from europe, so I felt a bit ...well, you can imagine. Anyway I switched it back to $, and proceed to buy one.
I was able to go ahead with the purchase even after entering my country. I arrived to the point where i had to put in my credit card data, so I think it is safe to say that I could have bought it at that price.

So...if you are from europe and want to buy one, don't change the currency!!

*: I was told some posts before thar there are cheaper options than the official site at ebay. Anyway, I'd rather buy it directly from them, just because I feel more confortable in case I had problems with the unit.

I paid $130 for the wispr2 and it came with a 3 month warranty from eBay. Can't beat that

Considering I had to get my original wispr replaced 8 times in a 4 month window, you can certainly beat that. Especially if iolite doesnt warranty it because its from an unauthorized vendor. You may end up regretting the $70 you saved after 3 months but then again you could also be fine so its more of a gamble then a surething

My First WISPR made it through the warranty time . A Thousand or so sessions lots of herb and still going strong .
I have to say I couldn't have been happier with its performance , always starts on the first or second click runs much quieter and hotter then my IO or second WISPR .

I can't believe I'm the only one with a WISPR that seems Flawless .

The only change I have made was to cut down the mouth piece to where it folds (after a while there is a crimp that forms from folding the stem)and pushed a walnut mflb stem through from the bowl side so when the ss bowl is in place the stem and bowl meet , works perfect and looks great with brown wispr , topped the stem with the rubber tip from a DV flexistraw . I like it anyways .

Just wanted to share this because early in this thread some believed no WISPR would live past the warranty . NOT TRUE ! mine is killer !

just taken delivery of a Wispr 2...Iolite sent it out as a replacement for my last broken unit (usual ignition probems-3rd replacement in just under 2 years).

Not a lot has changed externally - a quieter, more low key ignition and i think the heating cycles sound slightly quieter too - still hisses though. The window to show gas levels is back to being clear, rather than opaque, and Iolite have also added a small vent under the light - i had noticed that previous models did not ignite well when hot. Too many bowls in a short space of time or even outdoor use on a warm sunny day would often cause issues with ignition, so maybe this new vent will minimize that.

So far so good - delivering decent visible and tasty clouds of vapour - seems to suit my herbal "blend" very well and is slight improvement on my previous unit (which when working was already pretty lethal)

Hopefully these new models will last the course, as ignition problems aside, i'm really fond of these vapes - they do what they need to do well and are pretty discreet. Over the past couple of years i've made regular use out and about in central London, and indoors at gigs, with barely anyone batting an eyelid.

Hi. I'm new to the Forum.

I bought my Wispr 2 a few weeks ago and have been using it since with no major problems. I'm just concerned with my Drawing technique. I'd like some advice on the best way to use my Wispr2.

At the moment my Drawing technique is as so:

1. Fill bowl all the way full and Click wispr ON.
2. I let the Wispr go throught 2 heating cycles (orange led lights up twice) before starting to inhale
3. When i inhale i ususally do 2 hits (complete long slow breaths wait 5 seconds then exhale). The Wispr normally starts a new cycle as i'm finishing my second breath.
4. So : After 2nd cycle - 2 breaths
After 3rd cyle - 2 breaths
After 4th cycle - 2 breaths
5. After the 4th cycle i turn the Wisp OFF while taking the hits
6. Thats the end of my Drawing technique. The avb that i'm left with is not golden brown but a dark brown in color.

I'm concerned that i'm not getting the best use out of my Wispr. I read through this thread somewhat and i will heed the advice of not filling the bowl completely but i would appreciate it advice on my vaping tecnique or how to do it better

thanks

Hi Havok

Not filling the chamber full allows a bit of room for all the herbs to move and vape evenly and for me a chamber that is just over 3/4 full works best. I can generally then get multiple big hits-full of vapour-from each bowl.

I leave it to heat up, as you mention, for a couple of cycles, and then vape away.... i dont take 2 hits - just 1 long slow deep draw each time, as if I'm drinking through a straw rather than smoking. Leaving a couple of minutes between each hit allows more vapour to build up and i dont always take a draw on each cycle

I also dont count the cycles, or turn it off after a few have passed. Each bowl generally lasts around 15-20 mins for me. I just keep on going until the taste changes and I cant see any more vapour when exhaling. 4 cycles is not enough to get the most out of my herbal blend. Havent quite worked out why (possibly because I'm not at my brightest and most intelligent when it happens)but on some rare occasions it can go for 30-40 mins before its done.

I find that the initial hits produce less visible vapour but 5-10 mins in I start seeing clouds (and stars ;-) ) These bigger hits then die down towards the end of each bowl.

Making sure your herbs are finely ground and dry seems to improve the amounts of visible vapour.

Cleaning the chamber and gauze frequently also keeps it operating at its best. Its really worth investing in a spare chamber and mouthpiece so you can always have one clean. You really notice a difference when you swap to a clean chamber.

My AVB also turns dark brown-more sp than with the old school Wispr - although I have noticed the initial colour of your herbs affects the colour of AVB.

Bottom line is that as long as you're feeling pretty blasted after a bowl then you're using it fine!

Hope that helps.

Peace and love :-)

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of! Unfortunately, I went through a vendor who has their own warranty service, and they're being super slooow. I might just try to go through Iolite, anyway.
know that the dealer has its own warranty, does not negate you using the manufacturers warranty...

You

It actually does - the manufacturer warranty is voided because the dealer sells discounted merchandise :\

But it's all good - they let me trade for an MFLB and some accessories :)

WISPR since 12/10/2011
I finally switched to Colibri butane from the previously used Vector. I found a case of twelve 300 mL cans for $73.00 shipped (just under $6.00 per can shipped). I was paying $12.00 plus tax at my local shop for just one can of Vector as the same size can. I inquired multiple times over the phone and in person about the issues with Vector and they are completely unaware and lack the care to understand why it has sub-par qualities.

I vented my functioning WISPR 4 times with the new butane and two sessions later I feel impressed and happy with the change. I noticed no difference in how it sounds while operating but I did notice a change that two of my perceptions picked up. The mildly strange taste and smell I have had with Vector is gone! ABV looks the same color and the fuel usage looks slightly better or not unchanged. A welcome change alone is from the smell/taste being made more pleasurable.

Overall, this may be old news to many users but I just wanted to share my first-hand and very recent experience in butane swap with any other, interested WISPR users or possible future purchasers.

My 2nd replacement for my first green WISPR was promised to be a new WISPR 2 so I look forward to that. The two year warranty expires in the beginning on December of this year so this looks like it may be the last time I can utilize the free warranty service from Iolite for my first WISPR unit.

Just won a wispr off of eBay for $65. Only one tank full has been used. Super excited as this is my first vape. Also its coming with a three prong accelator so it should make it even better. Can't wait to save bud and be healthier (:

From what i can work out on their website,if they replace your unit, you get a new 3 month warranty for the replacement. you're then covered by this, or your original 2 year warranty - which ever one is the longest

Thank you for the insight! I am still within my WISPR original two-year warranty. THat does expire in two months, however so this new information is appreciated!

My WISPR issues have been....
leaky fill valve
failed to ignite
failed to allow butane to enter the ignition chamber.

I hope the WISPR 2 is more enjoyable. I do enjoy this product from Iolite often.

Getting my first vape for my birthday! Got it down to the WISPR2 or thermovape, like both due to their portability. I am a current pipe smoker and am looking for a hit to satify. Please advise guys!!

If the choice is TV or WISPR2 (ver y personnal dilemma), ill take the wisspr2 because it is a 4x4 for a heavy and outdoor or everywhere use. just feed it with good refined tane.

TV (ill assume you are talking about cera because other are not manufactured again) looses because too maintenance depdadnent and fragile. Well it seems because i never saw any TV device IRL.

If you offer the wispr2 a water path with tubes, you have a full reliable vape station. i hitted it in festival and beach and indoor. The only complain is the sound (anhiliated on the beach)

Ok so you can call me officially amazed with the WISPR (and iolite) !
I had it for ages (when it first was available here in Europe), before that I bought the iolite, wich I also didn't like at all.
Well, I didn't like them because I was just a baby in the vaping world back then (a few years ago) and I
never had combusted anything ever (---> I had LITERALLY NEVER combusted anything EVER before)
So the clouds of these things made me cough out 3 lungs (yes...3, I coughed THAT hard)
So i put them aside and started using the mflb.
Now, a few years later, I use the INH, pax, Ascent, pinnacle,...on highest temps.
So today I stumbled upon my wispr, felt funny enough to give it another try and I must say WOW !
I like this thing alot. Of course, I didn't have any of the problems alot of other people had, because I hardly used it but I think it's going to be used more from now on !

I told you in real life allready that this Iolite-family is really good. It's reliable , before ANY other vaporizer in the world. Which pretty much all elctricity. Imagine not having electricity for a few days.
I have an Iolite and I think my next vaporizer will be a WISPR.

I think I'm about to spring for a WISPER II. Can you tell me if it, (the "II") has any real improvement in durability/dependability. Also can you give me an idea on bowl/oven size (compared to a DV or a Solo) ?

Iolite is sending me back my (probable) last replacement for my green unit that was purchased almost two years ago. This is the third time, second replacement unit I will have received. And I am pleased to be informed they are sending me a free WISPR 2 replacement so I will have one of each. Surely, I will update upon arrival, which is scheduled this coming Monday.

I just woke up to an e-mail in my inbox from Iolite. The WISPR 2 are on sale, 40% off Black Friday Special from Nov. 25th to Dec. 2nd for $120 and free shipping.

You cannot beat that with a stick! Good until 12/2/2013 according to the e-mail!

That is a great price, I ordered my third WISPR
