FakeXhale Cloud (Unauthorized and Unsupported)

Cloudy...
In fact, if I remember right, they have a deal with retailers that they can't sell the cloud under price or that will void the warranty.

If something were to happen to one of these units, is VXL capable of repairing these? I don't see how they could. Also, I'm talking about an out-of-warranty repair.
VXL has said they'll honor warranties as soon as they're able, but these units weren't sold by VXL or by any distributor. I feel safe in saying you'll get no warranty at all. Just because a product is sold new and factory sealed doesn't mean the manuf. will automatically honor the warranty. You have to make sure of the terms if you're not sure you're buying from the normal supply chain.

but I seriously doubt they would repair severely discounted, untested units sold by the rogue manufacturer that they are currently in litigation with
I agree. It's a safe bet they won't. This is dumping. The cost of producing a Cloud is more than $125. It's not a high profit item.

That's correct. Every reseller is bound by agreement to sell at the agreed upon price. All they can do is offer freebies to sweeten the deal.

All my days in a daze...
LOTS of people bought those troublesome units for FULL PRICE, some places still sell them at full price (knowing they're troublesome).
And concerning repairs, warranty or otherwise, no one has any idea when (maybe IF) VXL is going to be able to start repairing the older units. So even people who paid high dollar for the Cloud+ are still waiting for a repair that will come 'whenever VXL can'.

Considering that, I don't mind taking a cheap roll of the dice.

I just ordered two clouds from this seller for $200 total including shipping. My buddy has a cloud plus already and wanted this to travel with. This will be my first cloud but I will be buying an evo as soon as theyre done with pre-orders. I figured for a hundred bucks this should be fine until I have an evo. Thank god my wife gives me an allowance :)

The seller seems to respond very quick although I did email him through ebay asking if it included ELBs and I do not have a response. I have a feeling he doesnt really know what these are, which if he is simply selling because he picked them up cheap and is trying to make a buck I can understand.

I want to apologize to SM for buying this but I fully intend to support his company. This is just a band-aid while I wait to really fix my cloud desires. I figure...someone is going to buy it, take advantage of it now.

Once again, this seller is the manufacturer that formerly assembled the Cloud for VXL. They are selling the leftovers.

Just a heads up to those that decided to roll the dice:

I just talked to the seller, and these DO NOT include ELBs. So unfortunately they will not arrive ready to play :(

Vapexhale is sold out of ELBs right now, so does anyone know of anything that could be substituted until ELBs can be bought?

That will work, but my original MiniELB was made with 1 dome screen, and 1 elb cap that had been manipulated a bit. You won't get the same effectiveness IMO without the cap being inverted like I explain below...You have the correct dome screens linked though!

"Here are some pictures...

In the picture above, the top two squares show a regular ELB cap and the bottom two show an Extreme Q Elbow screen. Notice how the diameter of the steel rim of both bowls is the same, but the EQ elbow screen is slightly larger in its capacity, due to design.

In the picture above, the left hand side shows a regular ELB cap on top, and on the bottom, the ELB cap that I inverted with the sharpie. The pictures on the right hand side show the inverted cap as well. To get the cap to look like this, set it upside down like the cap in the top left of the above picture, and take the end (not the end with the cap) of a sharpie, and push down in the center firmly. You can push and mold the edges to fit into the EQ elbow screen better.

There are three reasons for inverting the cap the way that I did.

1, it makes the cap more shallow, so it doesn't push as far into the bowl(EQ elbow screen) leaving room for medicine. you can't really pack meds in the EQ elbow screen, and put the cap in, unless the cap is inverted like shown above.
2, it leaves room, so you can pack a shallow bowl, as shown below, or a full bowl, as the medicine can go up into the underside of the cap.
3, it makes the caps diameter slightly larger, allowing it to fit snugly into the bowl (EQ elbow screen)...it won't stay in the bowl at all otherwise.

In the picture above, you can see the assembled Mini-ELB (EQ elbow screen+mangled/inverted ELBcap) with a regular ELB/caps for comparison.

And in this final picture, above, you can see the MiniELB loaded, and in the Cloud." - MiniELB Tech

Edit*** I just realized that @SlinginPaint's post was in reply to @2 Paces saying there are no ELBs available anywhere...So, my reply, saying you should make the MiniELB with a dome screen and ELB cap is kind of non applicable. So, to anyone in need of a bowl now, and not in possession of any regular ELBs/caps, do as @SlinginPaint suggested, and manipulate the two dome screens to fit together. Possibly following the tech I posted, but using the two dome screens instead of 1 dome/1 cap, one might get the same results!

Another alternative, that won't produce quite the same results, where the herb is farther from the heater and no longer enclosed in a ELB like stainless mesh bowl...is @vtac's All Glass Bowl solution! (quoted below...expand it for the pics!)
You can rig something up using an appropriately shaped adapter (18 to 14, carbon filter, etc.) and a glass screen. I've done it a few times for fun. It works, but is inconvenient and messy compared to the ELB with little appreciable benefit in taste. YMMV of course. I'm sure we will see some better thought out methods eventually.

May I ask what was wrong with these "troublesome" units? Thanks!

I've already edited out comments/explanations that I made myself- the kind of stuff that we found out was being printed out and used in litigation and was resulting in increased time and money spent. I hate to edit/remove more posts today, but sometimes you have to take the lesser of two evils. Sorry if anyone feels that we're taking the greater of the two instead, but our goal here is to encourage and help new vape companies, especially when they're started by 'one of us', vs a 'deep pockets' corporation. Let's leave your question to 'private', one to one communication (which we have available here as well), vs. the 'public forum'.

I too don't feel so good about not paying full price for the cloud, which means i am not contributing to all the effort SM and the VX team has done over the years that I have been witness to. However, I wont be able to afford a cloud in the immediate future so I just ordered one of these to get a demo of what it is like. This would hopefully be a step towards finally getting a real cloud one day.

I definitely also plan on buying an EVO when they're even available for me to purchase... who the heck knows when that will be. Like @darco said it's just to get a demo of what it's like and to hold us over. Then it becomes a back up unit if it lives that long lolol.

BTW, just bought 4 pack of ELBs for $20AU from http://www.australianvaporizers.com.au/.
They still have stock. Don't know if they ship outside Aus but I think they do.

Yo thanks for the heads up on these cheap Clouds!

I just put in an offer for one. I'm also opening a ticket with Vapexhale right now to see if they can tell me anything about these and if they have any idea what the story is behind these (and if they're even genuine or not!) :)

I took a similar risk back when the VAPIR NO2 was new and expensive, bought a super cheap one from a "questionable at best" source on eBay, it lasted 5 years of heavy daily use before finally giving up the ghost!

VXL is extremely busy and you're going to send them a support ticket about non-official Clouds made of overstock parts, that is being sold by someone they are in litigation with? Also your questions have been answered in this thread.

I haven't actually submitted a ticket yet and i did get my questions answered by reading the thread more carefully.

For now to find somewhere that sells ELBs, unless a vapir no2 screen works.

seriously? did you even read the post DIRECTLY before your previous post?

Vapefiend.co.uk has ELBs in stock as well.
THIS was posted directly above your post that you made 45 minutes ago.

Edit* sorry if this came across rudely, but you said that you just read the thread more carefully...I would think you would have seen the post that was made last in the thread, before making one yourself. I apologize.

No worries at all man. It's just that I'm in the USA and I really don't want to order from UK or Australia or anywhere international if I don't want to. I should have made that more clear.

AFAIK, the bowls actually are cheaper if ordered from the site in the UK, than from VXL, etc. IDK why, but even with shipping from there, it's cheaper
