Mainstream opinion on vaporization

I just saw a piece about smoking weed/"dab" through a normal ecig on the local news. It sounded so scare mongering and how it's a crisis because now people can get high and keep it hidden.
Pray tell they don't discover this forum.

Whenever I'm with tokers, I share and they do like the vapes, but they are not interested in the initial investment, which I understand. Others are particular and won't take weed that isn't wrapped.

There's still alot of ignorance out there about vaping. I still find it funny that 9 out of 10 times you walk into a LHS and they still try and sell you the volcano as "the best out there" - the minimal education is mind boggling.

I have a few friends that combust, quite frankly I'm tired of explaining the benefit of vaporization. If their willing to listen and try than that's awesome. If they think I'm going to sit there and argue the "it doesn't work for me" thing than fuck that, i'd rather spend my time vaping.

Some folks won't change and that's ok.

I think vapes will catch on a bit at a time - e-cigs and celebrities are pointing folks in that direction,
Yeah right now it's all about pens and ecigs. And most of the pens are fucking rubbish.

Yeah the local news will love this stuff. Wait til they catch an image of "Vape girl" or some other hawtie who does pen dabs and blogs about it. They are going to freak.

At my dispensary, none of the bud-tenders have heard of the Solo or Cloud. They only thing they know are the desktop Volcanos, Pens and Pax. The pax to them is a big pen for flowers. Most of the bud tenders either roll blunts or use pens.

I gently suggest to them the joys of items like the Solo and water tools. I see people doing the bag vape on the volcanos inside and it's cool, but it just seems so old school to me puffing on a giant plastic balloon.

I still really like the fact that people here in Bum Fuck Florida don't Know what a vaporizer is. Let them think you have to be sucking on a bag or whip that way my little portable collection stays a bit more stealth.

I have never had the desire to be part of the mainstream pop culture so I would like vaping to remain in the shadows. Once you start having people flaunting vaping in public and getting busted and stirring up crap it will be harder to go unnoticed while out and about. :2c:

Heh that's been my policy for a while now, it's just that now the non-smoking policy is no longer hypocritical. Take the smoke outside even if it's da kine, nothing personal. I've been known to step outside a few enclosed "smoking lounges" as well. Inhaling oxygen seems to be a priority for me, right after thc vapor :haw:

I dislike second-hand smoke even more than direct inhalation. I can't remember which comic talked about it but it was funny as hell. Secondhand smoke is like eating shit in a food analogy, because that's exactly what second-hand food is and nobody wants to eat shit, especially someone else's, except for maybe the family dog that instinctively knows what's good for him but we won't talk about that.

The article spun it to suggest that e-cigs are a new-found gateway to cigs and herb. Am I naive think that's naive?

That article sounds like they assume these concentrates of cannabis and tobacco are the less evil, introductory gateway experience. No long-term data for either compared to flowers and leaves. I'd stick with the devil I know rather than smoke cigarette oil from China. And I'm not sure I'd feel any differently about some of these cannabis concentrates (if I could even get them!).

Agreed! There's a major difference between you and the virgin consumer who doesn't yet know enough to discriminate so knowledgeably. Nubees, I'm assuming, would just dive right in and sort things out for themselves eventually, as we all do, but not at all necessarily should they seek introduction into other choices of vapor - I guess unless they were predisposed in some way to take that direction. Again, I admitt naivety about this, so try to talk it through to a better informed understanding.

I have a friend who's an actor and is very concerned with his image. He prefers joints even knowing that he doesn't get as high and that he's wasting many times the amount of herb. This is because in his mind, holding a joint, he's 300% cooler than if he were holding some TV-remote-looking-thing with a glass straw. Although he'll vape with me, he won't buy a varporizer because they don't fit his bohemian self-image. Who knows, if he manages to quit smoking cigarettes (which doesn't seem likely) maybe he'll see the light. It took quitting ciggies for me to finally lay down the bong (and subsequently pick it up again and attach it to a shiny new SSV :p).

Silly Goose, tin foil is for vaporizing Fentanyl patch jelly in a trailer with an escaped convict and a 16 year old child who has a child, and you're only supposed to do that once.
The taste of the gel

Anyways no ones asked me f my ecig was for weed (ironically with my DART attached)

I feel vaporization had a really rough start. so many shit devices out there that kind of worked, but not really.

I tried it this way 13 years ago, thought the same thing. wasn't till I tried a MFLB that my opinion changed. prior to that I had owned a BC vape=Garbage, a vapor bros, and a volcano. but it was the mflb that sold me and had me never look back.

if you wanna convert someone to vapor I say you need to give em a cloud or sub style experience. they won't be impressed or appreciate the differences usually otherwise...

haha dude! that is awesome :)

Almost there...
I agree with what you say @weedemon

My one buddy will come over and vape with me because i don't smoke.
After a heavy session he usually goes outside and hits his pipe or rolls a J.
He loves the vape high but really wants to best of both worlds.
Smoking gives him that satisfied feeling he hardly ever gets when vaping.

If i crank up the temps high enough for him it does the trick but he ends up coughing up a lung!!

I am hoping my EVO will cure him!

I have a friend like that as well. He liked the sublimator enough to give the vape he has at home (old box vape) another shot, but it's not the same so they still combust even though they prefer the sub.

The only portables that get any respect around here are the pinnacle pro and the vg glass sherlock, but the pax is still considered "cute"

I have found that as a new "Vaporist", all the people that I used to combust with, are largely ignorant when it comes to vaporizing in general. Since I have found vapor, I have found myself constantly talking about all the great benefits of vaping(Usually I am very reserved about my true opinions so this is strange for me) and even adopting the mindset of wanting to convert others.

Only one person that I know has a vape, and he combusts with it. And whenever I bring up anything Vaping, it feels like I am just talking to myself at times. This gif really is a good pick 11.

I introduced my friends to oil pens and one of them now owns one and loves it (my two best friends who are together). We dabbed up some CO2 throughout our day at Disneyland and it was awesome.

I need to see if I can snap a few pics of the vape section of my local headshop. They were the one with the biggest selection a few years ago, and now they've got almost everything on here! Of course at MSRP but they do have deals on them. Sometimes the deal and helping a local place stay open is hard to resist.

This is a slight offshoot but for the fc'ers with recommendations, do you guys talk vape with your budtenders? I've been going to this family-run place, low-key but there's always candy and a movie playing on a huge tv, ample seating. Easily 25+ strains when I go, kief, brand edibles etc. Budtender girl likes to smoke but always asks me about how the last bag I got was. It's fun getting to talk face-to-face about how the effects differ at different ranges and what worked best. I dunno if that's why my bags are always heavy, or if they just like me, or they love everyone, but it's nice being able to tell them and maybe then they can tell other people about it.

I'm 62 and taking up vaping as soon as I can find the right one for me. It's not like I hang out in my LHS so I wouldn't have any way to know vaping even existed.

How this "ahem" old timer learned about it was after seeing an article on the news about kids using e-cigs.

When I found out the e-cig was combustion, that nixed that idea, but my search did turn up info on vaping and I followed that information and finally got here.

I don't think all us old guys are resistant to change, we may just need to be shown a better way. I"m not giving my bong or my dugout, I'm just adding another way.

welcome to the forum Dogdad! you found the right site to find info on vapes :)

whenever I try to, I feel like I hit a resistance. either, I don't use the internet much man... or just general disinterest. it blows me away because they work at a place that sells em!

the last time I was in though they had the new sublimator (it was brand new to them! only sold one.) I showed the guy my scar, and told him to get on trying one out! :)

it was refreshing to hear em a lil more interested this time.

We'll see about that.

Of course not all old guys resist change. You're not the oldest here by a long shot. We have quite a few members who are older, me for example.

That article has a lot of misleading information. He might know about FC but he hasn't read much here. If he had, he'd know that you can't pick a temperature that delivers just THC. You can only pick a temperature that is biased towards THC. He writes as though THC, CBN, and CBD are switches that you turn off and on with the temperature you choose. They aren't.
