Will the stands be available by them selves for people who already have an AIO kit? I need one of those! Also I got that replacement power brick today. Works like a champ again!

I would love to, however, the shipping charge makes it really not feasible. If I had to put a price on those WT stands, it would be like 3-4 bucks. But to ship from Canada to US, it is ranges from $8 - $12 without tracking. So can't justify by themselves.
I think with the popularity of those WTs now out there, that there will be lots of ideas develop over the next while. Just saw the wood units in the Solo thread which are really cool too.
You will soon see an alternative to that doling which will really open up even more options for the DIYfers. :brow:

I removed the contest related references and posts as the forum rules require that contests and giveaways take place in the contest section. I realize that this may seem a bit extreme here, however I hope you can appreciate that the rules were carefully considered and are there for the good of the forum.

Once we get the contest thread up and running I'm sure Pipes will post a link to it. :)

Howdy FC members. It's been a while since I posted any updates on the Solo accessories.

Solo Stands:
The new source of resin has been working out great and I have changed a couple options.
The orange and green seem to be the colour which I cannot achieve with the new stuff because yellow dye tends to just not do much. However, I still have the other resin and can make if requested.
Now as for requesting custom made units. This is the main area of change I spoke of. Because of the many possible combinations I am willing to try to achieve the requested colour and with the glow option the brightness can be altered either by darkening up the colour or aim the LED in different direction. I will still make just for stock and trying different ideas which I can post from time to time or show in PMs.
My newest glow unit which I kind of think will be popular is deep charcoal which when not lit looks black and the glow is very un-obtrusive. In fact this will likely be my own favourite.

P1050944_zps8bcee174.jpg

The unit second from the left is the dark charcoal and the the fourth unit in is a light charcoal. For comparison the further right is the plain black.
Here are some shots of units which I have used to show interested adopters. Some are gone and some are still available.

I also want to remind folks that if they have their Solo's base getting chipped up, ask about the repair kit which consists or the right size washers and felt sticky back material pre-punched for DC plug and air flow. My new stands can be altered before resin is poured to have the DC plug raised slightly to match the felt thickness. The extra length because of the washers has been incorporated into the new moulds.

A fun note:
Made myself a DIY vacuum chamber. Needed for de-gassing the resin while curing.
Used a vacuum hand pump which can be found in automotive trouble shooting applications, a cookie jar, rubber pipe roof vent flange and a coupler from 3/8" plumbing fitting. Cut the large rubber pipe flange to fit into the lid of cookie jar and made two holes for handle and plumbing fitting.
I used a large lid inside to rest the cast on which can be moved around to adjust levelness.

Now this is a godsend compared to how I was doing it. Now don't laugh....too hard.

Vacuum1_zps996efb15.jpg

Really sucked the shit out of it....Actually worked quite well. Cut a piece of shower curtain rod protector to proper length to hold the plunger up. @Dreamerr, I can still hear you laughing from here.

Guess that's about it for now.

My power supply doesn't work. It apparently charges fine, but when I try to use the step-down voltage cable for powered use, nothing happens except for the illumination of the bottom blue light.

Also, I might add you shipped the AIO+ with a faulty power cable that only worked for about three days, and most likely damaged something else I own when I tested the cable with said device.

Please see PM.
EDIT.
I feel it necessary to give an update here and give an advisory.
There seems to be some misconception on the usage of the Solo in PA mode.
The battery DOES need some charge to use in PA. Reports of "unit not heating in PA mode" has been reported a few times now and solution is to charge the battery.
This makes sense as the Solo is a "smart" device. Protecting it's battery is part of it's job, so running on a low battery is against it's better judgement, thus it just says FU.

Next paragraph is a IMHO only.
I have also seen posts where the user states the PAs work without a battery. This may be true but "without" a battery is not the same as "low" battery. And our smart friend here seems to know that. (the method used to measure battery condition) So "NO" battery is fine if PA can take it.

There are also sites that state the PA will work even if battery is low. Well all I can say is I'd hope not, as would leave the battery open for being UNDER charged. Not a good thing.

The ability the Solo seems to have to vary the current amperage used between the battery input and the external power input seems to be a mystery. But really seems to have the ability to control the amount of each used dynamically. Meaning variable, the logic here is fuzzy to us at best.
The latest introduction of what is called PA mode with the newer units and the same supplied charger confirms this. IMHO. As this charger simply does not have the needed power to run the heater. Indicating more battery is used. Not to mention the external power, since coming in at 12 volt, would be supplying via the charging circuit. Verdict still out on battery stress on this one. In this situation PA=Power Assist?

Hopefully this makes some sense.

OK, you can wake up now @Dreamerr....

You need to press the up arrow after the bottom blue light comes on to set the temp. So far that sounds normal.

Faulty in what way?

It's been solved; apparently all the marketing propaganda is false, and the Solo needs some juice in the battery (or a disconnected battery) to work properly. Everything is fine now.

Hi guys, been busy working on a new design for the Solo stand and think most will like the changes.

First thing is the accuracy of the stand as a whole is much more precise. The big ass hole is now gone and the air flow for the bottom holes in the Solo is now routed along a cut in the inside of stand and exits just under the Solo's display. Also has indents to accommodate any bottom screw repairs.

These are the changes for the stand mould and makes the basic non-lite stand a very nice looking peice.
For these basic stands which upon request can be other than black. Also, the live video link in my signature "should" be more friendly now. It will show what I have currently in inventory.

Now the really cool stuff. The method for implementing the LEDs into the stand is completely different. I have made an inner piece which is made up ahead of time. It is a frame in which I mount the LEDs and two reed switches. I have currently been loading up the frame with 8 LEDs on 2 different circuits which can be turned off and on independently. So if going incognito the option to turn all off is there.
Below is the inner piece master and mould along with the clear units which are used to make the inside up. The BBs are for attracting the magnets from the "off" position to the "on" position.

This opens the door for customization galore. For this reason I will handle this more as a custom order scenario and only keep a few different ones made up.
When ordering the choice of colour, LED location(s) and brightness can all be as requested.

LED colours available: red, green, blue, yellow, white, and my favourite slow change rainbow.
These rainbow guys are really quite neat. They slowly change colour through the whole colour spectrum.

For those who might find it interesting on the "how's it made" please feel free to visit the related album
here for a slide show of the master from start to finish.?

As for pricing, the non-lit stands will remain the same price of $20. And if purchasing an AIO solution the price will have a $5 discount.
The new custom lit stands price may vary on complexity of the request, but will generally be about double the standard stand. This is because of the work involved in putting the insides together.
Honestly, I would just prefer to stick with the non-lit units because of the simplicity but also still want to give FC members an opportunity to have some choice and variety to have a piece they can call their own.

I can also add symbols or names embedded along inside the lit part of stand.

The only thing which I currently see as needing improvement is securing the magnets under the base. They stick quite well to the burier BB but if the Solo is pulled quickly from the stand the magnets can fall out. And trust me, not always easy to find. My current solution is to add an additional piece of felt to the top of stand covering the magnets. Slits in the felt allow for moving the magnets with a toothpick or non-magnetic pick. However, I'm not totally satisfied with this and will likely change this down the road. Nevertheless, totally functional now and open to any ideas on this. PM me if you have a brain storm.

So time to think about how you would like to see your stand to stand out. :\
;)

@Pipes since I currently own an AIO+ but would like to try the new design, what do I need to purchase? Will the $20 stand come with the female jack for the charger?

Hi @Caligula, hope all is well.
The stand can be made with either plug size.
As an AIO owner, your price is $15 + 15 shipping for the non-lite.
Just fill in the order request and we'll get you set up.

Hey guys, I have changed my price structure somewhat and thought I'd let you all know.
Basically I have rolled the shipping costs into the complete price. I have shipped enough now to make up an average cost to myself and decided to pass along the savings. The pricing for the AIO kit is the same as it is already sitting at cost.
The "FREE SHIPPING" price of the stand alone works out about $3 cheaper. So purchasing the stand for the OEM power sources comes out to $32 shipped to US or Canada. Tracking is provided for Canada only. Tracking for US customers would be an additional $5 if requested.

AIOFreeShippingPrices_zpsf4b3c03b.png

This price list is also available in my signature on one of the pictures along with links to instruction sheets etc.

I am also providing a economical LED version which remains only $5 more than the basic stand. This version only has two LEDs (front and back) and no switch control. This is actually the version I now prefer as toned down from the full lit versions.

Hey Vicki, got your PM and will be getting back to you in a moment.

Thanks @Snappo, glad your enjoying it. Must say that I always keep one on myself.

@Pipes Is it possible to order more of those gong stands? I love mine and wish I had more than one... also in 14mm flavor if possible!

Anything is possible, shoot me a PM. 14 mm is the one you you should have.?

Also, may as well let you folks know. I have been ramping up a change in the stand and will open another thread dedicated to it.
Basically all the stands will have an indicator LED in the front. And for the light show lovers, a rainbow LED which can been seen from all sides and angles.
The DC input plug is now counter sunk into the base. Which accommodates the other change, a 90 degree elbow for the power plug. This change is really cool as allows the option for the cord to rest either left, right or straight back by not using the elbow. And the main reason, permits the cord to swivel while holding in hand.

No pictures yet.....I know, slipping.

OK, took a few quick pics. Click the image below for a slide show. BTW, that was a QC test for the new elbows. Us guys and our lego...
The slide shows only has a couple pictures of the single LED stand but hey, it's just an LED...many colours available. IMO, the more fun unit is the rainbow one which slowly changes colours and has an hypnotic effect. Just what we all need while using our Solos. Enjoy.

I might be wrong, but wasn't it our conversations that began or 'kick-started', the move to offer more in terms of the LED & LED color in the stands? I know that I was requesting it when I ordered, before the option existed . I'm glad to see all of the new improvements, to such a great product! I remember talking about the possibilities with LEDs, thru e-mail when I ordered one of your stands a while back. It has been absolutely FANTASTIC, I adore it.
I will need to snag another, once I acquire one of the "new" Solos. AIO+ FTW :luv:

You may have very well have been. Great idea and ended up having a ton of possibilities.
Have to admit I bit off quite the hunk with the magnetic switches. They are a LOT of work getting it right in the one shot deal once poured. Lots of wasted product so decided to pack that option in.
Same with the multiple LEDs. A well placed single LED can give much the same effect when using layer pouring techniques. And finding a really short chrome female connector (some call it male) helped achieving this too. Surprisingly good quality with nickel plated contacts.
Glad your enjoying one of the originals. The new ones are a much looser fit to account for slight differences from unit to unit. This change was requested a few times so I broke down. I say it that way cause personally I prefer them tight. But must go with the audience.
Thanks for the positive post. Makes things worth while for me.
