The Dr Dabber Pen

@Dr. Dabber
As you are here frequently and happily participating i'll pose the question here(also for future reference of other Europeans on this board).
I'd like to buy a pen via the discount-link you provided, but as i am in The Netherlands i'm thinking there might be additional shippingcosts(and quite understandably so)?
So before going 'through the motions' on your site,i'd thought i'd ask here first.:)

I really do appreciate that, and I am looking into the shipping options globally. I actually got an order from New Zealand off the website and am trying to figure out how to go about it now. I will figure this out in the next day or two and let everyone know. Thank you for addressing that that before proceeding.

I looked into it and it looks like it will be around $15 to ship to The Netherlands. If anyone in here would like to participate in the promotion overseas or canada I kindly ask that you purchase direct off the website for the set price which is $89.95 after shipping and send me a message w/ the receipt number and I will include the extra ball and heater. Sorry if this inconveniences anyone! And sorry for posting twice!

Hello Dr. , I ordered a Ghost and a dome from your FC link yesterday. I just wanted to ask if I should expect a confirmation of my order. So far, I have not gotten any notice that my order was received. Thanks for your presence here on FC. I look forward to my Ghost++

Oke thanks for that,sounds good!
Next question though...
Upon trying to order, after switching to The Netherlands,i seems i have to do the payment through paypal.
I would rather pay it direct with my mastercard, not a big fan of paypal and their quite high usercosts,so i rather avoid them as much as possible.
Thanks for your quick replies already made and in advance for the follow-up on this latest question from me .;)

Thanks again for your interest and I will do my best to keep you guys up to date on when our full e-commerce store is up and running.

The threading for the cart is eGo style, I'm assuming? At $35 for the atty/cart, that leaves about $50 for what looks like a 650mAh battery (which wholesale for like $4 when you buy 50 or more). Branding and shipping costs aside, I'd rather just grab the atty and spend $15 on the battery. Thanks.

+ Warranty, two Slick Balls, Loading tool and a spare atty.

EDIT:
And you would still need to make sure you had the top section above the atty. I think his comes with it, but just in case.

Not sure if you are aware of the promotion we are running for FC members. $75 for 1 ghost kit (gift box, shatterproof ball, loading tool, charger, manual w/ warranty) + free shipping + extra shatterproof ball + extra heater. On top of all that, the customer service you get with our company is top notch. We go above and beyond to make our customers happy. I hope you give us a chance. Thanks

+1 on the customer service. Nothing but pleasurable experiences talking to @Dr.Dabber and this pen sure has been kicking my ass!

Never did get around to that video, whoops! As consolation, a frozen video frame of me and my Dr.D Globe.

When changing countries to the Netherlands you go through paypal without the option to bypass them, but you can do it on a 'single transaction'-basis.
So that's what i did,i just PM'd you about the promotion offer, thanks in advance.
I'll post how long it takes across the pond later, hopefully soon, because i've got some nice concentrates waiting...:)

I was actually struggling a bit with technique. I realized that as I've only used my SSV (whip) with my bubbler, I'm used to an open air path; whereas a pen, or in fact many devices, would plug one plug thereby creating a restricted air path. I was debating between a pulsing technique applying heat and clearing (the 'hit' comprised of a few seconds of heat, clear, a few seconds of heat, clear, etc then finally clear and exhale) vs hit comprised of one slow long draw with heat, letting the can build, then final clear.
I recommend pulsing the heater, with the length of on time depending on how much you load. The heater is a very focused source of heat and it's easy to overheat the wick and taint the flavor if you hold it on. I try to keep the oil that's on the bottom and sides of the heater and not on the wick to a minimum and scrape it when it comes to the level of the bottom of the wick. I only take a small dab and let the heater melt it until the wick looks "wet". Then I hit and hold the button for 3-6 seconds, let the wick cool (and absorb more surrounding oil) for 3 seconds, then do a second hit for 3-6 seconds, and I usually notice the second hit is thinner (meaning the wick is ready for more).

I think this small load and pulsed heating technique is a good balance of flavor and hit potency, because you get fresh taste everytime you load. Of course if you load so much the heater is flooded I'm sure you could hold it for longer, but that fresh taste won't last as long and IMO it's harder for the heater so the vapor isn't as thick :2c:

Yeah, I think the pulsing technique is the way to go. All good tips thanks, but I have been doing all this (as I mentioned in previous posts). I immediately did this pulsing technique when I first tried the Ghost as this made the hits cooler and smoother (less harsh on throat). I was out-and-about today and enjoyed more smooth tasty hits by exactly this technique.

However, my post that you quoted had to do with difficulty getting used to the restrictive air path when using this with my bubbler. Your tips don't so much apply there. I haven't had a chance to try again, but I think I'll keep trying the interval clearing technique I described along with perhaps letting some air into the bub by wiggling the pen about or lifting it up slightly.

The finer details of your post are useful though such as the precise timing and the idea of flooding and overheating the wick. I'll adapt that bottom of the wick scraping schedule too.

btw. I've also found myself loading when out instead of preloading at home in order that I can keep that fresh dab on the wick. In other words, I load it just before I hit it. I'm fortunate that I'm physically able to do this. I'm pretty sure one could get away with preloading. It's just not ideal.

Anyway, the pen has been serving me very well this week as a portable (direct draw dr dabber) which is, by far, it's #1 application for me. And yes, the hits have been getting tastier as my technique improves.

Ah lol sorry I guess I went off on my own thing. I do have a technique for water pipes though: at first power on for only a second or two while drawing slowly and wait for the oil melt and clear the airpath, then you should have good airflow for pulsed hits.

A clean heater will start out with very good airflow, clean concentrate will keep it good, but I just went through half a gram of darker wax and I can already see the heater getting dirty and feel more bubbles/restriction in the airpath. I think I'm going to use one heater for topshelf concentrates and one for "mids" from now on...

Thanks JKA. I am kind of doing this as I've been clearing during the off phase of the pulsing. However, next time I'l try with all of this in mind.

I'm thinking Sunday wake-and-bake ...

Chimp - why wouldn't you have a wake and bake? It's the natural thing to do and you deserve it, even Dr Dabber said it and he's a doctor. I am really digging adapted to water, it takes the sting right out of your throat on big dabs. i also ran it through a vapor tamer and that was off the chain!

I'll try and get some pics today.

What about a piece of tube and a reducer on the top to make it an 18mm, then stick that Swagger Cap on there?

OK, I understand what you mean by the reducer, an adapter like this, in order that I remove my 14mm downstem and hit the 18mm of my bubbler's showerhead, but what's a Shower Cap?
EDIT And why would I want to remove my smaller volume ds for that matter?

Chimp - a shower cap uses minimal amounts of water for diffusion ensuring more flavor. Something like a fritted disc would be mass diffusion which will usually reduce flavor a bit.

The pen with Tubing fits a 14mm, a "reducer" would be for reducing the 18mm size of his ShowerCap to a 14mm. I just phrased it as putting the reducer piece on the pen, effectively making that an 18mm section to put into anything. With a 14mm downstem this wouldn't be necessary at all.
