New video from MF about the concentrate tray :) I really want this, can anyone tell me which tray is the best to use for QWISO oil? Thanks in advance.

I'd definitely recommend the pad version. If it can soak in, that's what you want, you don't want it splattering about.

Be advised you'll need at least the new style battery (with the logo engraved) or better still a PA to play. The old standby 2400s and 2700s aren't up to it.

Good luck, I think you'll enjoy it. Kind of 'an old dog doing a new trick' thing really. Works surprisingly well if you pay attention to what you're doing.

Ok, I have a couple of questions that I've been pondering for a while.

First off, What the hell is that gooey crusty stuff that coats the inside of my glass stem? The smell is familiar to me in a certain way. One of the local dispensaries has medicated sodas. I had one once and it had the same smell and taste as that ooey gooey stuff in my stem. Sooooo....... the logical thing that I thought to do was to let that stuff build up. So I let the glass stem get nice and full of vapor crust, like weeks of 10-15 trenches a day of 20-25% THC herb. Then I put the stem in the bottom of a hot cup of coffee and let it soak. I add a little cream or butter to, well I think to, bond with any medicine. After the gooey is nice and softened and broken up, I use the stem like a straw and suck it up. What is that stinky vapor crust anyway?? It makes sense to me that there is medicinal value in the goo, because it's just built up vapor residue, Right???

Second thing. My MF MFLB reeks just like the stem does, but how can I fix that? I can kind of see through the screen and there is a metal surface under there that has more built up goo. I Very, Very carefully used some toothpicks and q-tips dampened with 91% iso and cleaned out under the screen. The toothpick got out stuff that looks like RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) and both ends of 4 q-tips were really dirty. I let it dry out, then pulsed the battery a few times to burn off any unwanted residue? It may be a little cleaner but it still smells like $*&#. I love my MFLB, but I hate that it smells so strongly because it makes discretion nearly impossible.

So do any of you know what's up with either one of my Q's. I thought I would ask ya'lls before calling MF.

Thanks.

1. The gooey amber-looking stuff that builds up inside of the stem is called reclaim, it's the cannabinoid molecules (which are very sticky) touching the air path and sticking to the stem. It's nothing more than condensed cannabinoid vapor, really. That's why it smells familiar, mildly like weed but without most of the terpenes (since they're destroyed by relatively little heat).

2. By design, the Launch Box cannot be fully cleaned. The "floor" under the trench is wood and so will absorb some of the smell of the passing vapor. I use a toothpick CAREFULLY so as to not touch the screen or light. Pulsing the battery is how I clean the ISO from my screen. I don't have a metal surface under the screen, just wood. Are you sure it's not just the reclaim that's built up in there?

Mine's probably wood too, I just assumed it was metal. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks OF, I am tempted to try both trays and see what happens but scared ill fuck em both up. Is that possible? Guessing the non-padded version is easier to burn off/clean. How do you clean padded tray, same way I guess? Yes when I order my trays I will be ordering the new PA and the new batteries....oh and the WPA whip thingy to try with my PN WT. Happy days! Just need to wait for payday now...few more days.

You clean them the same way, yeah. Torch red for ~5 seconds is what my pamphlet said. I like to torch, then ISO scrub once it's cooled down. Discoloration is normal. The reason I said use the unscreened tray was because it IS easier to clean, especially considering you're trying to vape QWISO. No offense to your technique or anything, but unless you're micron filtering or doing literally 3 second washes or something, QWISO will pull more plant fats/waxes which will leave more residue than, say, shatter/CO2/Pure Gold/very high-quality concentrates made with different solvents. I'd imagine the residue would be harder to remove if it's inside the screen covering the pad... which is why I save those almost exclusively for CO2.

I think, once again, the Q man is there with the straight poop.

The pad is silica fiber (I think) trapped under SS mesh. You can torch the lot to clean the pad safely.

Without the pad, only stuff touching the hot metal gets hot, so like fatty meat in a fry pan it's likely to spit. I found that 'spit' ended up burned into the screen (remember it's hotter than normal) or stuck somewhere in the bowl/cover area. Not to mention most of us have a tendency to shake by reflex sometimes, and upending and in upending the tray it's nice to have stuff stuck in the pad.....least the way I do it.

Best wishes.

I've found I much prefer using half a trench or maybe a little less, I find it gives "concentrated" doses and works much better for me. Anyone else here prefer smaller trenches?

My 'standard load' is .125 grams (.120 to .130) fine ground. I pre weigh a dozen or two at a time into small vials for easy use later. It's easy to do, I zero the scale with the vial and a funnel, then scoop some in bud (to 'just under the mark') and then 'trickle' it up to in range, take it off, cap it and go again with the next. Easily under a minute per overall, I'd say closer to two a minute? I'd definitely spend more times grinding and messing with single loads. This is less than a trench by a fair bit, but I know what to expect from each session and don't have to mess with anything when it comes time to enjoy the box.

My standard load is even less that OF's, it's about .07 up to .1, usually on the lower end of that. I use the same load in all my devices: LB, FV, Solo, Pinnacle, even the Pax when we use it.

this LB is so durable. For anyone whos concerned about combusting in their LB and damage from the combustion. I have been using this LB as a daily driver back up. I usually push it to black to the point of cherrying up and emptying the bowl right there.

The flavor of the buds still comes through flavorful- The trench is like a cast iron, I've never cleaned it once and just burn it high and a good brushing every time. I thought it broke on me when I got a PAv2 - I ran it at full power for concentrates and it stopped working. I pulled out my glyphs and it packed a punch I forgot from this vape. My PAv2 seems to have stopped working, not sure if its the plug or the box. Have to test it in the car to see...

Pushing it with this extracts the most for me and is as effective as many vapes.. I might just keep this as a back up stashed somewhere until I ever need it or when I'm outside completely.

So what's the point of using a vaporizer?

That's crazy man. I think you're doing it wrong though. Nobody should have a box that looks like that.

I think I would prefer to roast a bowl (which i havent done in over a year) over lighting up my launch box but that's just my 2 cents. Seems like even a green bowl out of that box would taste bad.

My trenches get tossed back out to nature to compost after 4 - 5 pulls.

Older model stock chargers will work with the new glyph batteries correct? I have my original charger from my kit in 2011.

Ludwig,
Try turning your PA down half-way; it should come back to life.
I have a new PA that pulses on and off when pushed to full power.
Thank god I rarely need that much power.

If your PA is "pulsing" at full power, you'll be turning in a warranty claim within the next week or so for a complete failure.

I've seen two die at the hands of the concentrate tray so far. Not that the PA is a less-than-stellar product, we are just seeing a few failures at the high ends of the scale.
