Hey guys, "Old time" MFLB user here. I've had it for 2-3 years now. It still works, but I think it needs some of the new "glyph" batteries. To those of you using them, are they really quite a lot better than the original batteries, or even some of the upgrade batteries? Secondly, do I need the new MFLB "glyph" charger, or will the charger that came with my original system work OK?

Still, as an aside, I am a "hard head" and have been recently playing with wax dabs in my Dabbler, which I like very much. Still, with the original batteries of some years back, and a bit of MFLB "technique", I got VERY vaked from this little gem :D

I think it will work even better with a good set of batteries.

Charger is compatible....get the Glyph's...it is like a portable PA. You'll love em and they don't cost much more than the Powerex 2700's.

Thanks, man! I'm ordering a set.

What do you guys think about their "finish grinder"?

My current method is to grind as fine as I can in my Space Case (upside down), then after I milk the moisture from that first hit, I dump it in my palm and finger grind it. This was the "old school" method from several years ago.

I know I am losing (some) trichs this way, but not sure if it's really worth it to get the little wooden grinder?

The finishing grinder is great as long as you only feed it very dry bud. It does the same thing you're doing with your finger grind, but better, and you'll avoid getting trichs stuck to you. You can get the same sort of grind with a coffee grinder, but the finishing grinder will let you do that on the go if you prefer not to pre-grind your flowers so much. The aesthetics are another selling point; the craftsmanship is top notch just like the LB itself, and they really look great together IMO.

Long story short, it's not necessary but if you treat it right it works fantastically and pairs with the LB "spiritually" like nothing else. :2c:

Lots of us do that. I usually do it after the load gets truly dry and starts to produce. I want the material to flow freely when I shake it.

And don't worry about losing 'the good stuff' that way, the key is to not wash your hands......

Thanks, guys, this is good info.

The batteries should really give me what I'm looking for. I'm actually surprised I got so vaked off of the original batteries.

I think I'm on the closer to the 3 year ownership side because my Box is an original style without the cool "stay-shut" dimple (I use rubber bands.)

Hi guys (and ladies of course) , just wondering, after reading lots about batteries lately (on other forums too) I wanted to know if it's ok to keep using the mflb when the battery gets hot, wich it does with mine after a few pulls.
Reading here and there that it's not that good for a battery to charge when hot, is it the same with usage and heat? If so, would it be better to switch batteries every 2 - 3 draws so the other one can cool or is it fine like this and can I keep using it even while hot?
I just recieved these batteries and they are much better than my previous ones but I'm not sure if they are the new ones (they say powerex AAI240-AZAE on the side)

Nice !
Thanks for the information, I was thinking of getting one soon, but was wondering if it was worth it to wait for the 2.0 as I didn't find a release date for it.

Hi everyone. I'm a first time poster, but long time lurker. I've had my MFLB for about a year, and managed to break it the other day. I went through the warranty process and all is great, awaiting my new box now. As a thank you for Magic Flight's amazing customer service, I decided to pick up some accessories; a 2ft draw whip, some glyph batteries, and the finishing grinder.

Now to my question:

I got this whip to try shaking the box whilst taking my hit at the same time. Has anyone done this (I'm sure somebody has.)? What were the results?

I'm also looking forward to trying the glyph batteries. Been using Powerex 2700s for the past year. Can anybody explain the difference in experience to me?

Thanks in advance!

I have the 3 ft whip.

Shaking the box whilst drawing does nothing. Better off sticking to the usual techniques.

Note: the silicone whip begins to smell after a few uses. Smells burned, but doesn't change the taste too much

:\ Awww, that's a little disappointing. I usually hit native, so I never get to see the box do it's thing. I guess now I'll at least get to see it.

Hmm, on the contrary, I manage to use the whip to get some pretty nice rips. In fact, just earlier, I used the whip to vape some kief. Being able to see the vapor production helped me shake it around after a few hits to prevent combustion and keep vaping. Plus the extended vapor path cools down the vapor temps a fair bit, although kief seems to make me cough more than flower or even oil. Then I did the same thing when I hooked it up to my tube and got some milky hits.

Anyways, checking in because I got to cleaning my concentrate trays and decided to lay a little dab down. Since I was vaping kief before, I had the temperature set relatively low, and decided not to adjust it. Barely got any vapors but they were tasty! Bumped it up gradually and got a few good hits before killing it at high temp. I was always doing it at 100%, for some reason I didn't think to consider it a sort of rough e-nail, what with the constant temperature and temp range. I'll be experimenting more but I already like this! I wonder what each kind of oil tastes like at different temps :science:

You don't shake , while you're inhaling . ( You can tho if you want )
That defeats the purpose of allowing the herb to heat up by contacting the metal screen . imo

The 1 ft . whip is the only way I hit the mflb , as to what the Q-man said above .
The whip can be cleaned with iso/salt and re-used . You can also get a lot more reclaim
on the whip . imo

Hitting it Native , gives me brown resin spots on my lips .
Which I guess , is better than being a ' brown noser ' ? ...or Not .

I didn't mean to shake it continuously throughout the draw, but intermittently. It makes sense to me that giving a good shake every 5 seconds or so during a very slow long draw would help improve taste and increase vapor production, especially towards the end of the hit. But that's just an educated guess, as I have yet to try it.

Reclaim is another reason I'm pretty excited about the whip. I feel like the amount that condensates in the tube during one session is pretty negligible, but after a month or so, it's gold.

I've never noticed any resin spots, but I have gotten chapped lips pretty bad. If the hole and your lip accidentally overlap, it may get dried out or burned. I always have some Burt's Bees handy when medicating, regardless of the method I'm using .

And you're right. That's what I do. Keep an eye on how long you're engaging the power, though. The three times I've managed to combust (actual cherry and smoke) with my PA recently were because I thought I could keep going. Well, I could have, but the heat transfer to the goods got too high (lol) and it crossed the vape/burn threshold.

You might also find yourself needing to make some small modifications to your technique when you get the Logo Batteries. Nothing too drastic, but in my experience, they were a bit stronger than the 2700s and old stock ones. Don't be surprised if you get a hit or two a bit hotter than you were intending. It should be a pretty natural transition considering you've had it for a year already and are using 2700's, but it's something to keep in mind.

What kind of wood did you choose for the Finishing Grinder?

Woo! Thanks for confirming my thoughts. I'll be changing multiple variables at once (box, batteries, method), so I'll make sure to be cautious with my technique. Stronger batteries are a welcome change though, so that makes me happy.

I got a maple grinder to match my maple box. They weren't regularly selling the MFLB in other wood types back when I bought mine.

I recently broke my original glass stem after about 2 yrs of use, so along with the replacement glass stem, I decided to purchase a maple wood stem. ;)
After using it at work for the last two days, I really like the wood!
Vaping with a subtle wooden flavor is something that is really growing on me, has been since I bought my MFLB, and even more so now that I use an UD for home use, and the all wood MFLB at work.. Wooden Vaping for the win!!
