Discontinued Indica Vaporizer

Slightly Medicated

For the battery to last two weeks on full power you would only get one 9 minutes sessions a day for two weeks. Their definition of regular usage is rather low.

i still can't believe this vaporizer only goes to 386F at the highest setting. They say at the highest setting the battery will last 1.5 hours of continuous use. Well that is not very impressive considering it does not get very hot.

To bad you can't unlock all the medicinal qualities of your medicine because of the limited temperature range. That has me majorly disappointed, because I love the form factor.

For me, personally, i think its great. I barely ever go above 350/360F with digital vapes. I know you probably use it for different reasons, but whenever i go above 400F i feel like im smoking again and my throat gets too irritated.

I believe the original wispr ran at 375F or around there and even that was sometimes a little too hot for me. I also got around 2 hrs of continuous use so if this goes 1.5 hrs and produces as well as a wispr then Im 100% in.

I think they're aiming for those that like sativas and THC. You and I are a different breed, we need the higher-temp CBD.

i have to have one...
You say that now, but wait til its released and the inital wave of problems and issues start to roll in, which is inevitable especially with a new start up company.

I really want it as well, but i have learned from experience to let the early adopters do the testing and scoop one up a little after. Plus based on other vapes that have come out recently, the price usually goes down after a vaporizer is released, and tweeked or redesigned due to issues.

I wonder how this forum aided in the temp selection. I would think this forum would lead to a different conclusion like in the PN thread. My guess is it really has to do with the size of the unit and the amount of battery they can pack into it. Higher temps take a lot more energy.
I agree with this but would like to add something to consider with portable vapes.
People have come to expect a small form factor like with the Pax but also want a high temp (I'm one of them), but from an engineering perspective this is incredibly difficult, I think people sometimes forget we are talking about a handheld device with the temperature of a home oven, just think of the heat your oven radiates.

Even using the best available insulation product with the lowest thermal conductivity, the heat will still resonate through over a period of time. Manufacturers reading the forums will come to realize that many users literally leave their vapes turned on all day, from when they get up in the morning to bed time.

This is the reason in my humble opinion that the portable vape market is flooded with these "oven type" vaporizers or little metal cups wrapped with thin nichrome wire as I like to think of them.

Looks cool, but I'm not sure I like a lighter after so may years of non-combusting...

Definitely going to watch the reviews though!

The engineering factors regarding thermal leakage in handheld vaporizers are significantly exacerbated by the primary heating method in these types of vaporizers (Pax/Indica/DaVinci) being based around thermal conduction.

Because of this, the constant mass of heat which must be created and sustained by the heating element is able to saturate the surrounding materials and spread across the body of the vape. Unless there are secondary considerations taken into effect to try to mitigate this effect (which as you said, is difficult engineering) conduction vaporizers almost by design are going to overheat at some point in normal operation.

However, that is not to say that there are not already designs of portable vaporizers that are capable of vaporizing at much higher temperatures without significant overheating issues. Most of these vaporizers do this by employing the users draw itself as a cooling mechanism to remove excess thermal mass from the vaporizer body while precisely controlling the heat of the element as to minimize the excess heat that is created. The inhalater is a perfect example, you can run it at the top temperature (415F) nonstop and it will just get a little warm near the mouthpiece.

In my opinion, the reason we are seeing this market for portable vapes becoming flooded with these "oven type" (good term) vapes is because this kind of design is the lowest common denominator in terms of ease of engineering, cost and experience. It's the easiest design to do right, and for many companies that is the only thing that matters.

I got to fondle a prototype at the San Francisco Medical Cannabis cup last saturday. They wouldn't let me fire it up.

The sales lady said july. Dunno if she was a booth babe or a marketing person but she wasn't familar with vapes. She kept stressing that it was unique because took a .4g load. I showed her my INH XP which can take .4-.5 max IMO. I just measured a capsule of GSC tonight that I loaded my average way and it was .44g. We know the PAX can hold much more as you've clearly demonstrated.

Its not stealthy looking at all because its quite large. bigger than a pack of smokes. thicker than my wallet. I'm not gonna look up specs buts its not as pocketable IMO as many other portables.

I'm sure it will have some positives. I didn't inspect the bowl since I couldn't demo the unit.

Who goes to the Cannabis cup and won't let you try it out? certainly most everyone else was....

Gotta say we missed THC Scientific and Thermovape this year. Both those folks had great booths last year. TV had a whole array of T1's and Evo's with pass through's and nice glass pieces rockin last year. G had a few of his glass pieces hooked up to several double Barrel Persei's and was also handing out jungle juice to anyone brave enough to drink it.

Not sure how I feel about the hinged lid. and no since I dont smoke why do I want to carry a super jumbo zippo looking thing around? They were advertising it would do hash and oil too. She didn't want me taking the thing apart either.

Maybe it will be a great vape but my initial impressions weren't favorable but then again it didn't get to try it.

I just measured a pack of smokes. It's about the same size.

Okay, that is just weird.. Why would they want it to look like a huge ass lighter??? Moving on now for sure......

edit: Just measured my Zippo and it is 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" x 1/2". So I guess not too much bigger..

Kinda reminds me of the puffit. Everyone loved the design, then someone posted about it being bigger then normal inhalers and people qere turned off while other bought in. Im sure the same will happen with this. If its the same size as the pic of it next to keys and phone etc. im fine with the size

We are new to this forum but wish to clear concerns and cofution related to the Indica. At the same time, we want to send our appreciation to all who requested our responses updates and added unstated factors regarding our delayed release. First, If you haven’t read all the links and strings, you'll find that we have modified the Indica's design to answer some of your member's most practical concerns previous of the product's release.

Here are a few examples, keep in mind that the vast majority of suggestions have been digested and either caused us to redesign or not based on what we considered a lesser improvement.
1) The chamber door was originally a hinged mechanism that did in fact, block the filling procedure. We have since replaced this door with an entirely removable cover which allows for an unobstructed filling opportunity. We are working on a magnetism option with reverse polarity to allow the cover not to be lost when filling. This device will be available shortly.

2) Regarding the Launch date, we need to apologize for our roll over dates. As we made many changes, each caused for a new tooling to be modified or ordered. Each day has been an exciting and necessary challenge that faces us, but others have brought us to dead ends. Either way we have had the opportunity to research outward and own some far reaching technology. Regarding launch/ shipping dates, we are beginning assembly overseas. Our demand for the Indica through distributors, far surpasses it's original number. At this time, we plan to airfreight 15,000 to 25,000 units to our California warehouse by mid August, and or shortly there after.

3) Related to the issue of size and stealthiest, The Indica is truly one of the smallest devices that allows for accurate vape temperatures, reasonable chamber as well as camouflage design. When placed in it's velour stash bag which is used for it’s protection, the bag also allows for added storage of your preferred refills and assorted accessories that might be desired.

4) The vape range was determined by several sources but did include this forum. We used the facts and then worked hard to limit the high end heat to avoid any room for combustion.

I would like to pose a question to the most knowledgeable first in the pursuit of knowledge and secondly to determine if we need to modify our heating limitations. It has been brought to my attention, that some of the dispensaries are suggesting 405 F for the strongest and highest dose of THC. Personally, I believe that there is mixed combustion with the thick vapor out put, which , may reduces the THC extraction. Any one with knowledge regarding high temperature vaping, please feel free to email us with the facts. We're awaiting input to determine if this is will then effect the current or future design/performance. If implemented, it should not delay the current ship dates.

5) Following your posts, we have adjusted the stainless steel components to ensure that the air lines flow through satinless including the metal moded cap that is inhled upopn which is now molded in satinless steel as well. Here are seveeral cleaning sugestions that will keep your Indica working on a day basis just like it's first day out of it's wooden box.

a) First make sure the screen is removed and replaced new atfer 7 to 10 chamber fills. I have used this without the screen and been equally pleased but resin is more likly to close the air line channel near the chamber itself. We also suggest you use the Pipe cleaner every 5 refills to keep the channel clear. Though the chamber can hold over 0.4 g of smokable product. We suggest that you reduce the maximum in the chamber to 0.20g to allow for better air flow and to keep your herbs fresh and moist. Larger quantites, though they still work will take added mixing with the pick, every 10 draws.

I would like to cover several other comments on your forums, but I'm out of time today. I will likely add more tonight or tommorow and begin anwering voleyed questions as they arrive.

Again I want to thank all of you for your contribution through the development of the Indica and look forward to your unfiltered thoughts, wishes and concerns.

Hi and welcome to F.C.

I have never had any combustion at 405° F. with any of my vapes. A good idea imo, if the increased temp. doesn't impact the overall reliability or run time of the Indica™.

Edit: I have vaped at 430°F and not had combustion. Very very dark abv but not combusted.

But is that temperature really the temperature that was hitting your herbs? Could the design of the vape have introduced more or less heat penetration that would affect that? There is no way to know without sticking a thermocouple right in your bud, so all of these temperatures are estimates. I'd be willing to bet that 430 reading was a little on the optimistic side. Was it on the DV or the Q?

Original Dv: 430° unsure didn't get to test acuracy
DV2:405° actual 391°f
Q: I go to 456°F on screen around 427~°F actual
Solo level 7 410°F 397~°F actual
Firewood hold it till it makes you grin 405°F+ read 435° once, its as hi as I will go close to combustion honestly I felt I got combustion at that point and never went that far again.
