Discontinued The Hammer Vaporizer

That sounds like hard flooring, dude. Why not on the rug, man?

The Law of Selective Gravitation.

The same thing that keeps falling toast butter side down, directs a dropped hammer straight to your foot or guides a dropped nut to bounce as needed for a hole in one in the only crack in the floor wide enough to pass it.

You don't think dropped car keys find storm drains on random chance do you?

Don't you have that where you live?

Yes ... that's the principle! And sometimes it works by having the dog (or the nihilist) piss on the rug instead of the hard flooring!

Hi there,

After purging twice and changing of gas brand, same behavior occured as described previously. I managed to have 3 half hits since i had the device.

i eventually gave engineering a chance and the first though was right: the gas flux was outranged on the upside. At the min setting the flux was so intense that the unstable flame barely light and I could hear the gas percolate. no flame came with other settings than minimum.

I opened the device with adequat screwdriver and re ranged it with the two red disks (carefull disassembled reranged and reassemble). i confirm that the behavior with my actual max setting are similar to the previous one but not to the point i was. i can now shake the device with a steady flame from any setting. the gas continue to exhaust after button release only on high settings (from 60 %). under this setting the gas stops when i release the button.

AAAAAANNNNDdingui dingui woooooooooooo. this is a tasty burger!

i now understand the general comments! the design was cool so are NOW the results. Great device when settings are corrects.

3 half hits and 1 real session so far with the hammer.

"no more whispy hits" it says, he does.

cheers.

 glad you got it up and hammering!

A few quick updates as well...

David made some color screenless custom stems, so I just need to get some pics and I'll have them up after the weekend.
We're running a Memorial weekend sale through the holiday... Hammers for $99.99 with free Lock-On Kit & Stems, a free Grinder Card and David just told me he would throw in a prototype screenless stem (from this post) for the first FCer that places an order.
A video contest is coming soon. You've seen our Hammer clouds, now we want to see yours ;)
Have an awesome weekend, eat lots of BBQ and Hammer on

I'm placing an order, though I don't see a place to let you know I'm an FC'er. The sale couldn't have came at a more perfect time, Thanks!

EDIT: order # 1068. ... I can't wait to have this for camping!

.... And all the rest of the time

Yes, that quote!

Could the manufacturer quantify and qualify the correct gas flow and settings range towards the "exhaust after release" factor?

would he say "present from any settings" or not?

i plan to water path the tool soon :p

So, I'm just finishing up my review on The Hammer; I've been using it about 2 weeks casually and absolutely love it. Not only have I loved playing with all the accessories, I've finally figured out the perfect technique and haven't combusted my herb in weeks.

Personally, I don't think it'll ever be my primary choice in my current rotation, but I wouldn't shy away if you're looking for a solid vape. In the <$150 price range, I think it's only second to the Solo & packs a really powerful punch for a portable/butane vape...

I usually only use the vape I'm currently reviewing... but decided to try out something new tonight. Loaded up the Puffit (sent about 4 months late from GotVape:\ ) for my first impression, and was EXTREMELY unimpressed. After about four inhalations of a burnt plastic taste; I decided to dump my trench (which was still 95% green) and loaded up a lock-on stem for my Hammer.

Two small bowls later and I'm completely satisfied; right where I need to be.

PS. to anyone who doesn't already know... The Puffit is the biggest GIMMICK on the market. I legitimately felt like I had throat cancer for about 10 min :puke: Strongly suggest wasting your money elsewhere. On the other hand, hope to FINALLY have my review up sometime this week.

The Hammer has a very wide range of fuel settings to make sure that it works properly in many different conditions. The entire range of fuel settings may not always be useful to you. For instance, you may feel that the Hammer works great at a low fuel setting, but that the high setting does not work properly. However, when winter comes, and the temperature drops, you will see the need for the higher fuel setting.

In the summer when the butane is relatively warm, a lower fuel setting is all that is needed for proper function. In the winter when the butane is cold, you will need to use higher fuel settings to get the same results. The fuel lever can also be adjusted for different elevations above sea level (close to sea level is a low fuel setting and higher fuel setting at higher elevations).

I decided to dump my trench (which was still 95% green) and loaded up a lock-on stem for my Hammer. Two small bowls later and I'm completely satisfied; right where I need to be.

we talked earlier about the possibility of butane exhaust getting into the clean air path if the unit was used horizontally: could this be averted if a person stuck an extension or even a lock on stem on the other side? In other words extend the intake out hopefully away from the exhaust?

Another question, any chance for a water pipe adapter in 18.8mm? I know there are adapters but i'd like to do without them.

thanks

i can't edit the post but the hammer and I have really been communicating well lately, esp since I got a simple j-hook...

just my two cents and in general, but a j-hook makes alot of sense for vaping in my mind for a couple reasons

1) it's long enough to have a nice cooling effect on vapor without effecting the taste like adding water does

2) you can see the vapor through the j-hook easily, which helps with variable temp vapes like the hammer. I got the idea from a member (apologies i don't remember name) that used on with a vapor genie head in a youtube video. I can make pull changes much easier seeing the vapor vs having to more blindly taste for the heat/vapor. For some reason with the hammer I sometimes revert back to a MFLB type wait and micro-hit method of pulling when hitting the just the stems. I'm working on that though, using a more steady pull. I get a more consistent pull with the j-hook and I get a much more even color in the AVB with less stirring.

3) want water? just add cheap ash-catcher or buy j-hook with the enough bends to add water to it! I can add water to mine in the kink.

---

you guys are in st. louis right? Do you guys find the Hammer works better in summer, even indoors? I would swear I can notice a difference...I never stored or used mine outside in the winter, so the base comparison would be indoor winter temps vs indoor spring/summer temps.

In a perfect world I'd like a Hammer without the CLICK! hypothetically could a small battery be used to make the spark?

Yes, you could build a silent ignition but there'd still be a roar of the flame.

Early on there were some gas lighters that used electric sparks from batteries. Before that there was a 'spirit lamp fuel' version that looked something like a nutcracker mounted on a wooden box (with the battery). Sparks from the battery using 'a Ford coil' to boost the voltage caused a spark that lit the wick on what was basically a huge Zippo.

There were also early versions that used glow plugs, perhaps your best option? That is a hot metal filament of probably nichrome lights the gas flow in a few seconds. The glow plugs from model airplane engines might be a good place to start? Otherwise you'll need a coil and some thought to make sparks.

Hey yall!!

Been hammering for quite a while now and happily doing it as well :). Hammer kicks ass!!
That being said I have the lock-on GonG in my possession and also the Pinnacle WaterTool. This morning i had the remarkable idea of trying it out together!:ko:
Worked out just fine. Now the reason i hadn't tried this before is because of the exhaust fumes problem, You need to hold the Hammer on the side with exhaust sidewards obviously but this doesnt seem to pose a problem. so you hold your Watertool if you have it just like you would vertical and you prepare the Hammer up with lock-on and the GonG filled like usual and when you're ready you attach GonG to the underside of the Watertool. Makes for one big and smooth hit :D depends on how the grade of the herb is I suppose but still this is a nice expirience.
Just thought i would share :).

Greetings to all

no water path yet but this device is a total rampage. Multiples successfull sessions here! kicks ass, really "no more whispy hits" i tell me when i exhale. YOu can feel particules impacting the throat when making huge clouds.... :D

No taste of butane at all when you hit vertically, and bended like hammering whith looking up with stem (if anyone see it). i will test it further in that sense.when you manipulate it outside you just have to counterfiet wind and.... pieces of nature outside and inside... yummy

Inhaling butane doesn't bother me really much since tobacco combustion is way way worse. I don't look for it neither.

I couldn't find the picture of an opened hammer in this thread to analyse path, can somebody could find it for me?

If you put the inhale path strictly vertically (for water use), would you say there is some butane fume in it?

No I haven't noticed butane in any way when using the watertool and hammer. Besides, your sucking on the glass tube anyway straight from your herb :) the air comes in from underside of the hammer. The butane fumes eject from side at that moment where the fumes outlet/heat-exchanger is. Should be safe enough.

Whattup fools? Just got my Hammer video uploaded to YouTube finally; been a pain in the ass to edit, but thankfully, it's done! I've got over 20 vapes right now, and the Hammer is usually the one I pick up if I want a super quick head change. I really enjoy it, and think it should be on everyone's radar... especially those wanting a backup vaporizer to offset their home unit. One thing I completely just realized is the fact that there's a little clip to hook it on a keychain or backpack; will be cool for camping/hiking. Here's a list of pros & cons off the top of my head:

**GOOD**
- Quick Warm-Up Period (around 30 seconds)
- Amount of Quality Accessories (Lock on kit is a must!)
- Flavor; really packs a surprisingly strong punch!
- No Batteries! Butane seems to last awhile; surprisngly
- Price; just about what I'd expect in it's competitive market.
- Build; really a solid feel. Heavy plastic & firm ignition button.

**BAD**
- Butane; small amounts of butane likely won't matter, but its still toxic over time. The butane does exit through the top of the vaporizer like suggested, but you still get a faint smell of butane when taking your hit. I'm not sensitive by any means, but I noticed it a little. Not a major problem tho.

- Heat; gets pretty toasty after you're done using it. You're not going to be stealthy with it or able to stick it back in your pocket. I saw that it was suggested that you put it back in it's toolbox and slip it in your pocket... but unless you're a circus clown... that case is not fitting in your pocket LOL.

- Learning Curve; like I mentioned a few pages earlier... it's got a wide range of temperatures that the user can mess with. Me being the ballsy motherfucker I am, wanted to start off with the highest. Not a wise idea. I also started off using the gong adapter with my bubbler and combusted. I guess this is a gift and a curse. I say this because it's nice being able to have the opportunity to get this temp, but at the same time... it takes awhile to perfect your technique/draw speed.

**OVERALL**

I asked the Hammer guys about vertical use and they said it is a possible for the butane exhaust to get into the intake air stream if it is used at more then a 45 degree angle.

here are the pics from a few pages back, credit to OO who i think posted them originally
http://s19.postimg.org/3qq0ray9f/IMGP0181.jpg
http://s19.postimg.org/n7aqdttdf/IMGP0183.jpg

My thoughts are that if you hold it vertical, the exhaust gas wants to flow up and goes out the part of T that is on top and into the intake air coming through the steel tube.

that's why i asked earlier if you could avoid this by adding extension to tube to get it out away from gas.

hopefully a hammer guy can post in here

If you are concerned... then this would definitely work. You would basically be increasing the distance between the exhaust and the fresh air intake.

My daily driver is a fairly standard bubbler (that would require the Hammer to be completely horizontal). I just lean the glass to the side a bit so that the Hammer is not horizontal. It is not perfect, but I have never tasted the exhaust.

We can definitely do 19mm ground joints. Male or Female?

a big thank you for the response!

admittedly i hardly get very much exhaust taste using it horizontal but I'll still work on this more to see how an extension changes things.

gosh i hope i'm right saying i'd need an 18.8 male adapter. I'd need one that looks like the 14.4 pictured on your site
