For the MFLB, do you guys would pick this 4 part or this nano grinder?
I dont have a grinder and I'm about to get a MFLB, I want something small and stealth but if that 4 part is better I dont mind having it.

Thoughts?

If all your grinding for is your MFLB then the nano will do, but if you have other devices or if you "gasp" twist up the occasional doobie then by all means get the 4 parter. And IMO, make it a SpaceCase.

The Magic Flight grinder is built for your Box. PIU's grinder is built to grind. For what it's worth, I've got a 4p SharpStone and a 2p Space Case. I use the Space Case more. Kief catchers are a neat idea but it's up to you as to whether you want one or the other. If you've got fragile hands (from, say, arthritis or a condition like it) the Nano Grinder might not be the best choice for you. As you can see, it fits into your trench... Look at your Box and compare pictures to get a difference.

Personally I would choose MF's grinder just because I don't own one like it. I've found that if I put bud in my 4 piece, in the top two parts (the two sections with teeth) and grind upside down I can get a finer grind. Then I attach the bottom half to it and give it a few more spins so that the teeth move the floewr around and gravity lets it fall through the holes.

I also had a coffee grinder of the "whirly blade" variety with the clear top, but I tried to grind valerian root really stoned one time and it kinda exploded the inside of it. Damn valerian root is about as tough as rocks! Anyways you can dictate how fine you want your bud, and you can certainly fit more at once. I remember grinding down 4 grams from broken up buds (de-stemmed) to a fine powder perfect for my LB in about 15 seconds flat. Maybe less? I pulsed the button every four or five seconds and checked the consistency.

I stopped smoking, the MFLB will be my main piece from now on.

Thanks!

Oh Yeah! Got my trays in the mail today along with a one foot whip. Such beautiful simplicity. I tried some full melt I had been saving for the occasion. I added two, half grain of rice size pieces and proceeded to get messed up. I have a Cera that works most of the time but I'll tell you what, when I'm at home next to my PA, I'll use my tray! Love the Box.

I hope my arrives soon so I can stop fiendishly checking the mail a few times a day :p

I found that level of load to be marginal. If the concentrate isn't very pure, 'spitting' is going to make a mess anyway. I found smaller loads and reloading more often were a better way to go. The vaping action was faster and there was less chance of burning the goods (which I managed to do a few times). There's not a lot of heat available in the pan, wasting it heating oil you never vape that time seems counter productive?

you make good points.. but i'm not very concerned w/ getting a tiny bit more out of it, or really even about the "spitting".. for the amount being used i can care less about conservation hah.. that's just me though.. i'm more concerned w/ getting full and IMO satisfying hits by any means..
i usually just let it heat up all wasteful and build up thick in the box.. and then take a big hit.. while never letting off the PA, i do that back to back 4 times and its usually pretty done. while holding the hit in, the box is filling up thick again.. one thing i thought was a waste(of my time) was to remove the heat, let it cool off, and then reheat again for the next hit.. i'm too impatient to wait for it to heat up from cold after every hit. i'd rather heat it once and puff it up.. i like to load a tray and just smash it out.. i pretty much use the tray as a skillet, i like it better that way.. even though it's not the best way

Can someone help me out please.... I went to puff on my MFLB and ALL my batteries are DEAD. I tryed charging them but they are old, it gave me only a few hits off each battery. I ordered these batteries from MFLB and they were very very good to me but now they are just s distant memory. Now here is my question, Do i have to order batteries online or can i find some at a local store??
Thanks in advance

I'm not going to be any help with your battery problem but I will suggest you spring for a PA if you haven't already. Save your batteries for rambles is what I say.

Most everyone here will recommend spending the few extra bucks and buying new batteries from Magic-Flight themselves. They've just released a new kind of battery that you can't get anywhere else, and they are hands down the best available today. You will be amazed how much more powerfully your box will perform with them, especially after fighting with old batts like you have been.

And, you don't have to fight with peeling batteries like the ones you'd get at a local store, and they come with nice looking new battery caps with the MF logo, as well as having the MF logo embossed on the battery itself, if you're into aesthetics…

I agree with the advice to get some new batteries from Magic-Flight, and I especially agree that a PA is highly desirable. If you need something to tide you over until your MF order arrives, however, you can buy any AA NiMH rechargeables that are rated over 2000 mAh, strip the wrapper, and you've got a temporary solution. Powerex batteries are good but not as common. Eneloops have a good reputation. Keep in mind that the fit might not be perfect and you might need to twist the battery a bit to get a good connection.

Anyone know how fragile the oil/screened tray is? How the heck is the screen held down? Is it going to pop out?

Are those available anywhere that doesn't charge an absurd $20 shipping to Canada? I'm about ready to retire my box as it simply does not perform with locally available Energizers.

The tray is pretty tough, the screen spot welded in. It should give you no problems.

OF

Is it? I got mine today and I found they appear pretty fragile, althought its well made I could see the "wing" breaking off accidently if not stored properly, I'm not sure if the tray would still be useable or if the wing has to touch one of the rails to conduct enough heat

I'm not saying you can't break one, just you shouldn't given reasonable care. I've been unable to for sure.....

The rods have noting to do with heat, they are mechanical supports and conductors for the little electrons. The heat is generated where the resistance is, in the mesh of the screen between the rails. You want the tray on the bottom of the trench, where doesn't mater all that much.

Good to know I've been thinking the wrong thing for a while lol, do you have any suggestions on technique besides what it says in the instructions?

Not really. Just advice that the two common failures, too much heat on the seals and not enough heat in the center before the goods melt down.

Think about what you're trying to do and how that will happen. Visualize, grasshopper.

After a few times it become natural. I haven't had a bad load in ages by watching those two points.

Good luck, not that I think you need it.
