Are you still using this setup and if so how is this working out? One issue I thought of if you do this is that you the glass tube above your screen will get much dirtier than when you use the glass mouthpiece.

I also wanted to make sure your mouthpiece screen was/is inserted correctly because this can make a difference in how easy it is to draw. You really want the mouthpiece screen to form a bulb and to stick out of the glass a little way like this photo

Yes, I'm still using this setup as opposed to the screen being inserted into the draw tube. I've found that this actually reduces the amount of debris on/in the tube. I'd created as many screen configurations as I could conceive of(and fabricate) while still adhering to the original concept. None of them really surpassed the screen being on the exterior.

Damn, price went up already :( Look forward to seeing a few more reviews/videos!
Working on a "real-time" video now. Hope to have it up here soon.

Can anyone comment on how this unit compares to flashvape? I love the "on demand" style of vaporizers

Marc and myself are working on an improved screen system. Those who have already purchased a Firewood needn't worry though. This new system will make little altercation to the existing design.

@VaporEyes So If I have this correct, This vape needs 20 seconds to heat up after the unit is fully charged. But then you can get on demand hits? Does this vape maintain the wood flavor and smell like many wooden vaporizers?and What portable could this be compared to?
My birthday is coming up and Im trying to narrow the field down...Thanks

20 second heat time before each draw(can alter dependent upon your heat preferences).
3rd inhale is when visible vapor really begins to form.
A draw typical of any convection vaporizer is needed(slow for greater heat, fast for lesser).
It may take a hit or two before unit is back to vaporization temperature after it has been left "cold".
Wooden taste is nearly, if not completely non-existent after first usage.

This is really my first electric portable(aside from the MFLB, which I didn't like). All others I possess are flame-powered. If I had to hazard a guess though, I'd say it'd be most comparable to a flashvape. Just with a reduced herb capacity and longer heat up time.

Mine arrives today :)

So any modifications you make to the screen system do you think will work in the old units already produced, or do you think you will have to change some parts around?

Existing Firewoods will be able to incorporate the new screen design. Honestly, it's not really anything special. Most anyone could have come up with this.

I think I was one of the first people on reddit to order one.
I've had mine for a week and I'm impressed and slightly disappointed.

As far as usage goes, mine seems to need a bit more warmup time than the video shows, even with slow draws. It's possible I've been spoiled by my inhalater but I don't know. Once it starts hitting, damn, that's some good vapor production. It's also much more discreet somehow than using the inhalater in public. Friday I sat down by the Hudson in downtown manhattan for a sesh. Plenty of foot traffic, tourists, joggers going by, no one gave me a second glance. (Though I do get some stares when I'm puffing on my inhalater) I think being on/off manual makes it like an MFLB in usage though the vapor production is much much better.

My main gripe about this thing though is the loading. The bowl access point is a small hole on a small flat surface. How am I supposed to load this thing on the go? I would have loved if there was an inverted mouthpiece type thing stored on the unit where I could suck up herb from a container and blow it into the bowl, kind of how I load my inhalater capsules. (Again, been spoiled by that damn thing.)

i think if the manufacturer made the hole a bit wider and putting a bit wider glass mouthpiece that would work as the inhalater capsule would be a huge upgrade to this thing...loading -unloading and cleanign this vape is my big concern...

Here is a new mouthpiece that improves airflow and also has a little funnelly thing that aligns with the hole when you move the mouthpiece over a bit. This helps loading quite a bit. Once I figure out how to make these quickly I'll send you one (and anybody else who has a Firewood with the old mouthpiece).

Oh wow, that looks great! Can't wait to get mine. Looks like you've made a change to the mouthpiece glass tube as well, what is that big spring looking thing on yours?

this is why a small company is awesome! innovations happen in weeks, not months or years:tup:

This vape looks very uniquely organic. It also kind of reminds me of the days when I used to create vapor by holding a lighter under a test tube filled with herbs. Just way less sketchy :D

Waiting to see some more experiences..looking to pick this or the solo as my first vape. I love the wood and simplicity of the firewood but am worried the solo would offer more depth of use and longevity for about the same price.

An early experience report here.

Finally got a chance to use my Firewood. This baby is built solidly and runs smoothly. The only complaint about workmanship or materials is that my switch is finicky. It doesn't always go green when I turn it on - I have to wiggle the switch sometimes to achieve contact (obviously an iffy connection, but that can self-correct through use and after power has flowed regularly over time, i.e. working the kinks out).

I love the looks, size, smell, feel, taste. The hits are on the thinner side, but sometimes I am in the mood for that and I hope to exercise more control as I continue the learning process. I feel it will be a great vape for when I want to experience all shades of the vaporizing experience from green through light brown and all the way down the line. Sometimes I want the full-on harder hits, but I have other vapes to fill that space.

It really has a smooth effect both mentally and physically. Sometimes I want that lazy, drifty, Saturday afternoon high - don't always want an intense deep-ocean dive... though I think this could achieve that too with practice and multiple hits.

I say "Great Job" to Firewood, and I plan to report back after I have more experience under my belt.

Update: One mildly productive hit has crept up slowly and smoothly, but with real body and legs considering the small cloud. VERY smooth feeling.

Update 2: I like this. Good-trip vape.

Update 3: To anyone who remembers my post here crying about not buying this because I already spent too much lately ... the dog's on one cup a day now ;)

Update 4: Switch is working fine.

Update 5: Final update for this post. I really enjoyed my time with the Firewood today. I think it stands out from the crowd by providing an exceptionally smooth experience. Maybe not the kind of rocketship vape I want for Saturday night (time will tell), but perfect for Saturday afternoon. And that's not damning it with faint praise because it really is an important quality to me. VERY satisfied with the purchase thus far. Also, as I mentioned above, the switch issue seems to be working itself out.

I really enjoyed the Firewood tonight. It provides such a smooth, bright buzz. Vaping doesn't always add a lot to a strong tincture base, but this one really fills out the high end. Takes a few more hits than some vapes, but worth it for said effect!

How is your screen currently installed?

There's one screen at the bottom of the herb hole and another at the bottom of the glass bubbled out.

Then the fun has just begun for you my friend. Once the screen is moved to the exterior of the mouthpiece tube, airflow improves by 30-40%. I'm able to vape to a dark brown(evenly colored ABV) now with little effort.

Edit: If you haven't been contacted by Marc about a replacement mouthpiece, consider sending him an e-mail about it. It has the improved screening and a funneling hole now.
