Vaping and pain relief

That just happened...
My wife was concerned with how my leg looked so she hauled me to the Dr yesterday. He said it looked good. I told him how I'm having trouble with the pain. He asked if I needed another 60 peresecs. Lol. I said no I had plenty I was just trying to get by with as few as possible. He told me most people with my injury stay on them for 28 days so not to sweat it. So I am not going to obsess over it so much. Day 9 and I'm dealing. :)

Anybody want to see some before and after X-rays? Hehe

Just stumbled upon this thread, and I'm glad to hear that you're alive, and dealing with this as well as you are! Still a wicked bummer, but as others have said, you are alive! I can chime in to say that I agree with what pretty much everyone has said so far in relation to medicating with/without opiates, etc, and cannabis. Good luck to you, and hopefully a less than agonizing recovery!

I was turning left into the entrance when the car came racing up behind me. You can see the skid mark from my tire at the moment of impact. The guy fled the scene. :(

Oh elmo.... :ugh:

And I'm sure your other "bits" hurt as well. I hope you were wearing protective clothing, etc?

And what a cowardly mother fucker.....I can't imagine how anyone could leave someone in the road like that.

I was wearing a full face modular helmet, motorcycle specific protective jacket and gloves. Aside from that it was jeans and hiking shoes. My upper body was only bruised and sore but not badly injured. Some road rash on my palms.

Imagine what my face would be like if I was wearing a half helmet.

I hope they find the dickless piece of shit that did this to you, and I hope they throw them in a deep, dark, dungeon. The asshole drunk driver that killed my brother in law gets out in a year or two, but then the Navy gets him back, and I'm not sure what they are going to do with him.

Glad you were wearing a full face. Might as well wear no helmet if not imo. Not trivializing AT ALL but you bare lucky that is all that happened. Don't feel bad or worry about taking the pain meds. Save a few to use to ween yourself off and everything will be OK. When I broke some ribs I was up to 60mg a day of Percocet. I made the mistake of cold turkey stopping. One hellish day of being sick and that was it. Just don't stop abruptly. Go a day or 2 taking half of one or something.

Good luck and here's wishing you a speedy recovery.

The drunk driver that killed my best friend in high school only got 5 years. :(

They told me even if they get the guy it's just a misdemeanor. I'd have probably gotten in more trouble if I had a gram of weed in my pocket when I crashed. Crazy system...

It's only a misdemeanor to leave the scene of an accident? Damn...

The pain finally caught up to me over the last 24 hours or so. I gave in and had to take a percosec tab this morning. i pondered over it for a while and finally swallowed my pride and took one. Before I was at least getting around a little and doing a bit of physical therapy. I had been reduced to just trying to accept each passing moment and felt like my recovery was moving backwards. (I'm on day 6 post accident/surgery)
Hey man, dunno if the doctors mentioned it, but drink a lot of water!! Fruits!! Oxycodone constipates me something fierce. Nowhere on the level of hydrocodone (Vicodin) which I take pretty much every day in low doses thanks to its greener friend. Seriously, drink water and take the docusate if they gave you any.

Don't trip on that shame thing, either, you're in a situation where narcotics are an effective way of helping you out, as am I and a bunch of other people here. Just for now, till you're all better and then you can go back to vaping. Honestly a bit jealous you're only on them short-term, though on the positive side at least now I've got something to take that helps me out with less side effects than the other shit I was on before.

darkrom, 60mg oxy a day isn't anything to mess around with! I had really bad restless legs for a few days as well as terrible insomnia when I was taking 40/day. That wasn't even the worst one, 300-400mg tramadol/day to 100mg the next day to 0 the day after took me around 4 months to fully recover from... yeah, never again.

I do have a high tolerance to opiates. I never abused them or anything, so its a catch 22. When I need them I can take 5mg now (if I have broken bones etc w/e they prescribe them for rarely) and get relief for ONE day. After that I need 10mg to get ANY relief. It builds really fast with me. 60mg a day is pretty high, and I'm glad it was just one day of withdrawal sickness due to me just stopping when I ran out rather than tapering.

I will say this, after being on benzos when I was younger, NOTHING feels addicting anymore. Nothing will compare to the addictiveness of benzos IMO.

Back on topic a bit more, I find it VERY hard to believe that if someone commits a hit and run it is only a misdemeanor. I know it is very serious in most/all states.

Drunk drivers are the absolute worst thing ever. Its so rarely them that get hurt which makes me so mad. I just wish instead of hitting innocent people they would all end up full speed into a tree/pole and speed up natural selection.

REALLY don't feel bad about taking the percocet. For me personally they no longer seem sedative, they actually give me an energy boost now which I find weird, but it helps get me thinking more positively. Sometimes feeling all better for a little bit (even if its just from the opiate) can make a big difference. For me its a nice reminder of what life without pain is like, and that almost gets me "motivated" to heal faster.

Only replying to you re: oxy being stimulating. It's derived from another opiate alkaloid (from poppy pods) called thebaine which in itself is a pretty stimulating alkaloid. Also slightly speeds your heart rate up whereas most other opiate alkaloids slow it down. I hit 44bpm at the hospital last time, the monitor went crazy and the nurse booked it in followed by another. Usually rests around 60-64.

Also, eww benzos. Talk about GABA addiction... Alcohol is as bad.

I'm waiting on the day we get that 15% CBD strain from Israel... That'll be something I'd love to try. Can you imagine doing a nug run on some of that??

Today was a pretty good day. I've been dealing with some shoulder and back soreness from being on my back so much. So I had a massage therapist come by and give me the treatment. It was very therapeutic so I think I'll continue with that twice a week.

Taking minimal percesec and about 2 grams of top shelf herb a day through the cloud.

Recovery continues.... An old shoulder injury has flared up from all the crutching around but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with my leg. I'm only at day 14 in a 12 week process but the initial pain from the injury and surgery is diminishing. My shoulder is actually my primary complaint which while annoying is promising for my leg.

That is excellent. When I broke my ankle, I got my cast wet, it rotted and smelled so foul that my family wouldn't let me eat dinner at the table until I had it cutt off and replaced. It was disgusting . . . :p
