Aren't we all? (Looks back and forth sideways)

Is it possible that I might be able to salvage a session in the herb chamber with something more hashy? I'm guessing since the bowl will be glass that cleaning shouldn't be an issue? I tried some hashy material in the pax and I noticed that if you can work it without clogging it'll work so long as you clean it all out right away. I'm drooling thinking about that first bowl hit off a new unit ^_^

I've been wondering how the Ascent will perform with material like that as well. I've been using the oil cans for that in the original DV and it has been working nicely. The cans are easy to clean.
So I'm confident that the Ascent will work just as well, if not better. I was considering the Cera for that type of material, but not after finding this thread and seeing the features and sleekness of the Ascent.

If holes are in bowl for air and the bowl can't be removed how we gonna clean if stuff falls in holes?
Just curious if stuff could get trapped?

Use grinder setting one notch above "atomize."
;)

The one thing I've mentioned I'm still unclear on for the entire vape is the air ingress to the bowl. I'm just really not sure about what happens between the grille and the inside of the bowl. The rest I have knocked down.

But at it is *mainly* a convection based unit, under application (air intake during use) all particles would be pulled against the top glass screen. When not under use, I would imagine if anything were to fall through that hole, it would just be dust particles, like so much pocket lint.

[And knowing some of the people here, there is more of a chance of "contamination" from flower in the pocket lint INTO the device, than vice versa. :lmao:]

Maybe some of those dental brush things could get into that area if needed with some iso.
Good chance some sticky might be involved!

I also noted the grill comments and tried to get them to change it last night. I have a surprise where this is concerned, but it won't happen for another few months...anyways the grill has no function it is purely aesthetic and hides a little master power button.

Does that help?

Thank you, but no. I already know the quote. (I think I quoted it in the wiki.)

Again: I don't know the ingress path for air to the bowl.

I can certainly see the grill is ornamental. But that doesn't tell me about ingress (air path) to the bowl, itself.

TO BE MORE SPECIFIC: I'm not clear on *WHERE* the air gets heated. Is it pre-bowl (like for example the porting on low frequencies that Bose uses? *LOT* of surface area exposed for temp control there.) Is it in the bowl itself (thus inevitable conduction over the convection)?

To my mind, super-heating the air *prior* to the bowl would provide the best heat, but might not allow for even toasting of the contents of said bowl. IANVE (I Am Not A Vape Engineer). Is it both?

I'm the first to admit I don't have the physics figured out, but am open to suggestions...

Happy Monday everyone!

So good news- we will start shipping some of the Ascent components to our warehouse this week, just waiting on the packaging to start shipping the actual unit. So, we are finally secure enough to announce an official release date: May 15th is the hard launch date.

Note, I'll likely have stuff here before, so we can get some review units out and our contest winners will be able to score their units, but we set the date so far in the future in case there is any issues with shipments....and yes it does happen.

Now regarding the heat...the entire outside of the ceramic bowl is lined with a thin heat film, but below the bowl is also a small "tail" that will allow air to start to heat prior to actually hitting the inner bowl.

Awesome! Thanks for the update!!

Will you take our money in advance of that date so it will ship on that date, or will you not start taking orders until the 15th?
(I know, I know: you just gave us data, and I'm being greedy for more...)

Thanks for this tid-bit. I had figured there was an air-path prior to the bowl to heat the air.

I guess I'd hafta wait until my grubby mitts can take one apart to see exactly what it looks like...
:)

nigel,
Hey forum, i e-mailed davinci from their website asking about bowl size and the response from Jessica was 'we don't have the exact size yet, but its double the size of the DaVinci.' so just wanted to update u guys since it would seem it'll actually be larger than the rumored 1.3 grams
