Nectar Collector Essential Oil Vaporizer Straw
Although this bubbler was designed to be used with concentrates, my first thought upon seeing it was, "That would make a great hydatube for any number of vapes out there". With a no spill design it has quickly become my go to daily driver.
The Nectar Collector is made by the good folks at
Wasatch Glass Works, as mentioned in the title of the thread the shop is headed by Kristian Merwin, and it has a lot of talented glass artists. I had the good fortune of being able to speak to Emily and although they are not set up for a full retail operation, (they're focusing on filling wholesale orders right now) they are willing to allow people to buy the nectar collector directly from them by contacting Emily via nectarcollector.org
Quick Overview of the Package:
The bubbler came packaged in a cardboard box with peanuts, inside of which was a smaller box containing the bubble wrapped Nectar Collector. Inside the smaller box along with the NC were a sticker and some literature about WGW.
The Nectar Collector itself is made up of 3 parts; a mouthpiece, the bubbler body and one of two tips included in the set.
Stats:
Total Height: 12.25"
Height without tip section: 10.25"
Thickness: 5mm? on the body 3mm? on the mouthpiece
Joints: 18mm F on the top and 14mm F on the bottom
Perc: Reverse Perc with 4 slits
It's the overall design that really has me. What allows that bubbler to be no spill is the clever design of the mouthpiece and the perc. The mouthpiece has an extention that sits in such a way that it does not allow any water to run back out regardless of the angle it's held. This works very nicely with the ability to set it down without it rolling away. The decorative knobs not only keep it from rolling, but also keep the mouthpiece up and away from the surface your setting it on. I'd say my only piece of feedback in the design will most likely come in the form of a custom mouthpiece. Because of the small chamber size and low level of water if the NC is held at more then a 45 degree angle the water no longer covers the perc. I find my self more comfortable with my looking up with my neck straight rather then looking down when I draw on the NC.
It's construction is exceptional, everything straight, all the welds are nicely built, the ground joints are extremely well done. In inspecting the glasswork I could only find one small area of bubbles.
As far as any joint slippage concerns as mentioned earlier in the thread, so far I've had no problems with it. I find that the mouthpiece joint can easily stick while supporting the weight of the bubbler section with water in it. I also understand that the NC now comes with a locally made joint wax (Local being Utah).
The first vape I wanted to try this baby on was my LSV. Because the of the size and shape of the NC it really reminded me of the direct draw wand that comes with the LSV. To pair the NC with the LSV I used a 14/18 M/M adaptor that is fitted with a screen. (please excuse the wand resin in the adaptor)
Well I have to say that the results were stupendous.
I really like this little bubbler
and I'm looking forward to more of the stuff coming out of the WGW's.
