Going back to smoking...So different...

I'm different from most people here, I've been basicly exclusively vaping for just over a year and a half now. At one point I thought I would never smoke again but recently I've been passing spliffs around with my friends, its so social. Admittedly it tastes and feels absolutely disgusting but there's something about the effect that I largely prefer in a social setting. Vaping always seems to make me fade out and I become much, much less chatty as oppose to sober or smoking. I would never smoke on my own I prefer the clean clear high from vaping, particularly with some good tunes in the morning. But around others, particularly others who I don't know too well I really do prefer a few tokes on a joint.
Round here everyone mixes their weed with tobacco but I'll never do that again, fuck tobacco.

Well, I've been combustion free mostly since my sig, I think July 24? 2012. (Can't see my sig right here, LOL).

Anyhow, I could never go back to smoking. I can't even be in the room with people smoking. It really disgusts me. It's so insane how I used to love to smoke, and now I can barely be around it. When I go to my friend, he usually is smoking blunts, I get him to stop to use the PAX, but once other people come, he lights that blunt. I need to get out of there. LOL. They pass it to me, and I refuse. I honestly can't take smoking anymore.

Fuck combustion!

As for backup vapes, I secured myself a pretty good collection of vapes for backup reasons.

Originally I bought the WISPR but wasn't a good daily driver main vape. But works phenomally to me, as a backup portable vape. Runs on gas, no need for electricity. It's my go to when I'm gonna be out for a long trip and have no power around.

The Pax is my main portable daily driver. If I leave I take this most of the time.

The Cloud is my main home daily driver. And the E-Nano is a suitable main home daily driver, and sometimes I use this instead of my Cloud.

In any case, I have a huge selection of vapes so that I never have to smoke again :-)

You can get an ubie or a vg so cheap these days there's really no reason to be without your tools. When I travel and I will be gone for more than a few days I ship my No2 to myself and prior to going back home I give my No2 an ISO bath and ship it back. I haven't smoked in a while - when I do the taste is awful and my chest tends to hurt. If I have no choice I roll joints.
Especially when a VG coil is only what - $30 now?

We're here to fuck shit up.
Yeah, I've passed on many a joint, blunt, and bowl over the last few years. I've actually had a few people become offended because they know I enjoy MJ yet won't touch their dirty blunt. I just tell them I'm taking a break from smoking.

Am I the only one here who still enjoys the taste of smoking? Obviously it's not the best way to taste the herb but I enjoy the taste of a joint or a blunt, it's also helpful to sometimes have a way to smoke that can be easily disposed of.

+! on the VG as a backup, I used it a lot when I lost the cyclone bowl, she might not be the prettiest girl at the dance but she'll kiss you goodnight.

I really dislike the taste of combustion. I'll only partake as a last resort; the flavor is just awful for me.

i'm partial to rolling herb(although i haven't for a while).. i feel vaping is just all around better IMO.. but combusting through a dirty ass piece is the worst... i hate the taste of the resin... combusting, i never really used to notice, but now its impossible to ignore.. also, all my friends that combust never fucking clean their pieces or even change the water.. it's rediculous.. gross shit. i don't miss cleaning smelly black resin.

iv'e been feeling like i want to get a VG lately.. i forgot all about the coil.. it has a lot of fans from what iv'e noticed. thanks for pointing that out.

B, your so on point with this. I never used to notice the taste of resin, or the metallic taste from sneak-a-tokes or a protopipe. The first time I went to combust (found a year old forgotten about half a bowl) through one of my old pieces the metallic resin taste was so repulsive :puke: I just threw the piece with the half a bowl away. I kept the proto for emergency use and just to see how much it might be better if I iso soaked it to facory fresh....... still haven't had the desire to indulge that experiment a year later.

Salutations SunnyHours,

Anyone else has experience switching back?

M'yeah, i was with a close acquaintance with no vaporizer at hand. The event lasted 3 puffs, well... It was more like failed attempts really... And i don't recall any benefits from it in a ny case!... So next time i'm going to reply "Thanks but no thanks!" as i've found my own solution now:

Smoking blunts or joints in a social setting is fun, I mean I wouldn't waste my weed in a blunt or joint but if its somebody else's weed I'll go to town on that shit. I agree that I'm not as social when I vape unless I'm doing it with other peoe. I can't do bong rips anymore... just too nasty and harsh for me. Combustion glass is so fucking nasty, I can't use that shit anymore. I guess I've become somewhat of a vapor snob. I was never able to fully give up combustion until I started dabbing because I can get that quick rush.

for me combustion is just one of the ways i introduce change into the mix along with different vape temps, settings, hit style, etc. its a balancing act maintaining a sweet spot while not allowing it to become too routine, mentally and chemically speaking.

Best way to preventing routine, chemically speaking, is to change strains. Combustion only decarboxylates a lot more THC into CBN, than in vaporization.. so the main difference is less THC and less cannabinoids in general because they are lost in pirolysis (thermochemical decomposition of organic material at elevated temperatures in the absence of oxygen).

totally agree and aware of the science however availability will dictate options of routine prevention. :peace:

I don't fuck with any inhalation methods except vaporizing anymore. It's that, edibles/tinctures, or nothing. Vaping is 100% better in every way for me :)
A true vaporist has a completely different mentality than a combustor. Imo a true vaporist vapes holistically. The 'high' tends to be a result more than a reason.

It's pyrolysis. Pyro = heat, Lysis = bursting, separating, decomposing. Though I think you are oversimplifying the differences between the two things(combustion vs. vaping), as there are quite a few things going on that are different.

Please don't claim things about people who are not you, I find some of these things you've stated mildly offensive. I know it's your opinion, but I think it is a bit offensive to say a "true" vaporist is holistic, or has a different mentality. You are trying to put people into categories, please keep from differing everyone from each other, it's easy to form groups who are diametrically opposed to each other when you begin using this type of language.

Please don't claim that I am claiming anything about anyone else's opinion who is not myself, as this is offensive to me too. And it makes me sad, too. :( Did I miss any emoticons with my emotions? Because a true vaporist never misses using all emoticons with his or her emotions. I guess.:D

I've only repeated what you've said, I've been careful not to put words in your mouth. It's important to understand how your language affects the rationale of others.

It's a very in-depth question. For starters there are many combustion products, to what extent they play in psycho-activity has been a matter of debate, but as far as I'm aware, has never been a topic of research.

There is also the ratio of vapor to vapor condensate, as well as droplet size that should also be added into the equation, with wispy vapor having a higher ratio, and smoke having a lower ratio, generally speaking, though there are a great number of factors affecting each of these aspects.

BTW, on a fact-checking mission I found out your previous statement was incorrect, CBN is an oxidative degradation product of THC, not a decarboxylative product. That being said one must also consider the extent to which the starting material has already been decomposed, as that will affect the cannabinoid ratios, which will affect the effect.

That's just for starters, there's a whole long list of factors that must be considered, this is one of the more complex drug interactions due to the sheer number of variables that must be considered, mostly due to the enormous variances in administration techniques, as well as variances in starting materials, which have widely varying compositions, and lets not forget storage, which affects degradation, so on and so forth.

I would like to research this kind of thing to help the public understand the roles each of these interactions plays, because when this substance becomes acceptable for recreational use, many people will want general guidelines on avoiding intoxication, where as the knowledge of how best to harness the medical value can be better determined for our current legal status.

Either way there's much to consider, and much to know, it will take time to document it all and determine what's what.

There is no way to create concise guidelines for avoiding intoxication via inhalation techniques. Other than, to avoid possible intoxication, don't inhale. :2c:

OO, sometimes it seems you correct people just for the sake of correcting them.

It's true it's not the only variable when discussing the differences, but i was speaking of what we know, i'd love to speculate on the potential variables in play here but i was being pratical.

The main difference between vaporization and combustion IS the ocurrence of pyrolysis which in turn allows for more oxidation of THC into CBN because of the higher heat.

How this difference afects air ratios, the effect of cancerogenic compounds and lack of oxigen in the brain, etc etc.. is still up for discussion, but i doubt it is that significant compared to the effects of pyrolysis in the cannabinoid profile alone.
