This relatively new piece by Kristian Merwin has really peaked my interest in glass. Seems like a great piece for vaporizer owners. While it was designed for concentrates and hashes, I can see it working very well with both vapes that I own as well many others I don't.

A very versatile piece coming in a small easy to clean package. Unfortunately I can't seem to find much in terms of availability online yet. According to their facebook page, the regular sized version seen above is $250 while the mini designed for portable concentrate "vapes" like the G-pen is $200.

I learned about this piece from the following video seen in this post from the G-Pen thread. Watch beginning at 1:40 for a short demonstration.

Interesting that you should post this. Dangus posted a link to them over on the Cheap, high-quality bubbler?? thread. Since then I've been in touch with Emily, :cool:who is awesome, and is one of the glass artists in Kristian's shop.

I should have a review of the Nectar Collector as both a concentrate vape and as a bubbler water tool by the end of this weekend. As well as more information about Wasatch Glassworks, and most importantly information about how you can get a Nectar Collector of your very own.

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
I saw the vid in the cheap thread, and I really am not that impressed with the design...

How the hell that bottom piece (the tip) doesn't go sky diving every chance it gets I don't know, but I don't trust it...
Especially after it's been heated with a torch :o
:2c::shrug:

I think the glass is actually "notched" so this won't happen. After a few dabs though, who knows. :)

Nectar Collector Essential Oil Vaporizer Straw

Although this bubbler was designed to be used with concentrates, my first thought upon seeing it was, "That would make a great hydatube for any number of vapes out there". With a no spill design it has quickly become my go to daily driver.

The Nectar Collector is made by the good folks at Wasatch Glass Works, as mentioned in the title of the thread the shop is headed by Kristian Merwin, and it has a lot of talented glass artists. I had the good fortune of being able to speak to Emily and although they are not set up for a full retail operation, (they're focusing on filling wholesale orders right now) they are willing to allow people to buy the nectar collector directly from them by contacting Emily via nectarcollector.org

Quick Overview of the Package:

The bubbler came packaged in a cardboard box with peanuts, inside of which was a smaller box containing the bubble wrapped Nectar Collector. Inside the smaller box along with the NC were a sticker and some literature about WGW.

The Nectar Collector itself is made up of 3 parts; a mouthpiece, the bubbler body and one of two tips included in the set.

Stats:
Total Height: 12.25"
Height without tip section: 10.25"
Thickness: 5mm? on the body 3mm? on the mouthpiece
Joints: 18mm F on the top and 14mm F on the bottom
Perc: Reverse Perc with 4 slits

It's the overall design that really has me. What allows that bubbler to be no spill is the clever design of the mouthpiece and the perc. The mouthpiece has an extention that sits in such a way that it does not allow any water to run back out regardless of the angle it's held. This works very nicely with the ability to set it down without it rolling away. The decorative knobs not only keep it from rolling, but also keep the mouthpiece up and away from the surface your setting it on. I'd say my only piece of feedback in the design will most likely come in the form of a custom mouthpiece. Because of the small chamber size and low level of water if the NC is held at more then a 45 degree angle the water no longer covers the perc. I find my self more comfortable with my looking up with my neck straight rather then looking down when I draw on the NC.

It's construction is exceptional, everything straight, all the welds are nicely built, the ground joints are extremely well done. In inspecting the glasswork I could only find one small area of bubbles.

As far as any joint slippage concerns as mentioned earlier in the thread, so far I've had no problems with it. I find that the mouthpiece joint can easily stick while supporting the weight of the bubbler section with water in it. I also understand that the NC now comes with a locally made joint wax (Local being Utah).

The first vape I wanted to try this baby on was my LSV. Because the of the size and shape of the NC it really reminded me of the direct draw wand that comes with the LSV. To pair the NC with the LSV I used a 14/18 M/M adaptor that is fitted with a screen. (please excuse the wand resin in the adaptor)

Well I have to say that the results were stupendous.

I really like this little bubbler and I'm looking forward to more of the stuff coming out of the WGW's.

For those interested in purchasing a NC the retail price is $245 and you can reach Emily at

Awesome review NewVape :)

Have you tried an aquavape?
I'm curious how the 2 compare given they are both compact handheld spill proof water options.

The nectar collector looks to be the nicer made/constructed of the 2, but I don't know from a functionality standpoint.

What's the drag like?

Frederick McGuire,

What a guy!
It's got a pretty good drag to it and it's perc is chuggy, but that's expected with the small amount of water and limited room for the perc to do its thing. I think for myself it's best paired with a vape with a more restricted draw like a log vape.

I'm liking the look and use of this glass, and I've email them to find if there's a Canadian vendor or if they ship to Canada. Also asked if there was a mini (smaller) version.

Anyone else grab one of these ?

And those that have them, are you still pleased with your purchase and/or found likes/dislikes with it's use ?

TIA

I do believe that they have a mini version. Don't know about Int'l shipping. I regularly use mine, I really like the non-spill part I can just set it down and not worry. I've knocked over a number of bubblers because I'm clumsy. In fact I broke my "Infamous" bubbler lasts night by knocking it off the table. AlsoI want to clarify my earlier comment about the drag and "chuggyness", it has no more drag then any other small bubbler (like the Infamous:p). I'm amazed by the small amount of water it uses, seriously this thing uses less then one tablespoon. Again an amazing little design. If you contact them let them know you found them here. I'm trying to convince them to join the forums.

I've had an original response to my contact and have replied with further questions as well as pointing to this thread as my source of interest ;)

I'll let you know how things play out, and hopefully of how much I love it if I'm lucky enough to acquire one.

Attaching a pen to a bub like that is absolutely genius. I'll be keeping my eye on these guys. There seems to be more and more people dabbing without the use of ti lately.

I'm getting closer to ownership of a mini of one of these...... hopefully I can get it shipped by the weekend

Does the mini version use water or is it used dry?

It uses water as well.......

These are the dimensions that were provided by Emily to me upon asking the difference of the mini & original:

Original NC: 1.5 inches wide, 15-16 inches long
Mini NC: 1 inch wide, 14-15 inches long
I was truly expecting that the mini was shorter by more rather than just less wide and I didn't push for more particular dimensions/measures. But, I decided on getting the mini mainly because there are others that got the original and it will give us something to compare against.
BTW... both have the same 14mm receiver for the tips.

That thing is pretty cool, but I think it's probably better used as a water adapter for pens/vapes- unless that tip is made out of quartz, it will inevitably crack.

Also looks like it would work perfect for the solo

Aside from Dabs, the Solo is my main interest to use it with.

I have no worries with regards that the tips are designed to work as intended, but only time will tell I suppose at this time.

Regardless, with the experience I have had with Emily so far I'm confident they will stand behind their product.

Anyone know the cost of the mini?

Sorry, forgot to mention that (duhh).... cost to me direct from Emily was $205 usd for the mini, and was quoted $245 usd for the original. plus shipping/taxes/whatever else ;)

I was really hoping to have this piece in hand for 4/20 but Emily wasn't able to get it shipped until Tues this week (if it did ship ), but its not very likely considering the border delays that regularly happen.

I'll certainly be glad once it does arrive, no doubt, and accept the delays as well as appreciate the opportunity of ordering direct ahead of vendor release.

Come on Mr. Mailman, gimme my chit :D

I picked up my shipment late yesterday but never got around to trying her out (dragged my ass home after a long busy day and passed out within minutes), but today I WILL PLAY ;)

For some reason I only received one tip and another attachment with a rush hole (carb) that for the life of me I can't figure out what the heck I'd use it for..... I emailed Emily about it and am waiting to find out what she says about it.

And just a note to fellow Canucks...... the border is apparently up on their came lately and yet again I had to pay my HST (which I'm fine with I guess), but dinged me their stupid handling cost (to do their jobs that our taxes already pay for), of $ 9.95 for an additional total of $ 36.61 on top of the mini I purchased.

Maybe the second piece is for joints ?

lol, don't know how that would work on a straight tube hehe. Still no response since yesterday, but I'm starting to think it 'may' be a wrong item and is a bowl or something....

I'm sure I'll get my answer soon enough and put the mystery to bed :D
