Vaping on a cruise

deadheadbill

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
Just went on a cruise in Jan. Getting on is not usually much of a problem. We had e-pens, bowls weed and I had 2 grams of hash in a balloon under my tongue.

Returning is where you have to be careful. Homeland Security loves to flex their muscle and make us think they are earning their money so they will have dogs etc sometimes upon return.

Use what you take DON'T TRY TO BRING ANY BACK!! It's just not worth it.

Which is why I say go with the Omicron. At $12 it's cheap enough to toss if need be.

Off topic but worth a mention.

If you take decent precautions and have a bit of confidence in yourself you can carry your goods to pretty much any place you want.

I know airport security is pretty tight and probably none more so than the U.S and the U.K...but a few years ago (post 9/11) me and the Mrs were going on our two week holiday we decided on Costa Rica that year...beautiful country, if you get a chance, go...so anyway, we were flying from Heathrow into Atlanta staying in Atlanta overnight and continuing the next day to Costa Rica.
At that time I couldn't go without my smoke and certainly never wanted to gamble on getting anything in Costa Rica, (even although I did score without much trouble there)...so I got a 1/2oz of hash, wrapped it up nice and tight in a couple of layers of cling-film and concealed it on my person, I sailed right through all of Atlanta's customs and security that day....same again the next day for our departure journey to Costa Rica and then once again at Liberia airport in Costa Rica...no problems at all.

I don't want to tempt fate and I don't carry overseas now since we now travel with our daughter in tow...lol...but after that trip I also carried from the U.K to Spain, from Amsterdam to the U.K and also from Istanbul to the U.K.

Don't they have body scanners at heathrow? You can't do that with body scanners anymore. I can never do that cause I am in a chair so I get searched from head to toe and sometimes more intrusive then others. I am sure you have heard the stories on the news well it is true.

You could opt out. I always do.

I've never flown internationally from Heathrow for a year or two now, but I have never saw any body scanners there.
They may have them now....who knows.

Yes, I have heard about those scanners...are they widespread in the U.S now ?

kingofnull....I heard that you can opt out, but they will frisk you up until they come against resistance so it may well be too risky now.

As someone who always gets felt up I can tell you they search you well. Being in a chair we don't go through scanners we get jail searched.

I'm certainly not advocating travelling internationally with cannabis. I'm just saying, you can opt out if you choose. I've had a pat down at numerous US/CDN/INTL airports over the years, and let's just say there are still a few places you could hide something on your person.

I agree kingofnull, I'm definately not advocating anyone to do as I have in the past.
Yes, there are 1 or 2 places that things can be hidden discreetly......probably the same place/places I have used in the past.

I too have had some serious patting down at intl gateway's....especially after getting caught from U.K customs at Dover ferry port going to France on business a few years back with approximately a 1/2oz of hash in my van....lol...they had the sniffer dogs and all in there.
It was my own fault though that time...if your ever going to carry anything to anywhere through a port or airport..."Do Not"....I repeat..."Do Not" decide to have a spliff/vape approximately 1/2hr from the port, because if the customs start bombarding you with questions you will not be on the ball and may delay in answering as I done...then your toast and it's all over, into the private room you go...:o

Needless to say that was my last trip carrying anything as I tend to get extra special attention now when travelling anywhere...I presume due to the Dover incident, and also my daughter came along...so I definately wouldn't do that now....;)

Yea private room is a trip and a half. Also cause I am sitting there nose is basically in my privates so still a no go as far as I am concerned. When you are in a chair is is a bit more intrusive then when you stand cause I have gotten pat downs before injury and they are nothing. They even feel up my dog.

I make a lot of jokes which you aren't suppose to do but that is part of my mental shit. Most do laugh but i have had issues. I hope after my next trip I never have to travel again.

I laugh too, every time the U.K passport control officer starts with the routine...."Where have you been"..."For how long"..."Who are you with" etc etc....it's the same old chestnut....as all the poor people behind me are wondering what the hell is going on, as no-one else in the line through pass-port control has had to answer so many questions...you can just imagine what's going through those peoples minds, ranging from terrorist to intl drug smuggler (which I was, but only for personal... ).

Dreamerr, your never going to travel again after your next trip ??? You can't do that...there is just too much out there for to not want to travel.
I understand that if your in a wheelchair things can be hard to navigate through/around etc but just think of all the experiences you will miss....the U.S is a huge country and plenty to see, but it's the difference in cultures and living conditions etc in foreign lands that are fascinating.

I actually had a really good experience with TSA on my last flight. The officer was young, but extremely professional and explained every step of the pat-down as if I were a newbie. Certainly a far cry from the days when they'd act incensed at the mere suggestion of an opt out.

I actually called in a compliment last time for the tsa officers. I had to go to pvt room ugh but they were so nice and good and professional. They were ok with joking as well which helps me.

I have been out of the country and vowed never to go again after 9/11 way to scary to me. I was out anyhow on cruises and that was Canada that I can drive to lol, but that is it. Now since injury like you said way to hard. I don't even leave my house so forget travel.

I bet we could rent that ship that had raw sewage flooding the halls pretty cheap. Or that one that tipped over like 10 feet from shore, pretty sure nobodys using that one. All it would take to bring back the glory days of piracy is one shit-stained 'liner and a crew of stoners. Anybody have ideas for a pot themed black flag?

Keep the pirate and swords. Just have a whip going from his mouth to a SSV or MFLB or any vape have it going all the way to behind one of the swords handles!

The missus and I tried a Carnival Cruise last week. We were virgin cruisers. I had invested in snorkel equipment, but the Lawd had other ideas and made the seas too wild for snorkeling.

Packed a couple variable voltage pens, 2 half ml carts filled with indica and sativa distillate , some psilocybin-infused honey-sticks, and a chocolate bar, all in my personal bag. No issues at the Denver airport, nor getting onto the boat. I had read that lots of folks toke up on cruises, but I only met one French guy with an e-cig and another couple with a hookah. The only weed I smelled was on the islands.

I would hit the pen in my stateroom restroom, or outside in other restrooms. Once my wife was taking a shower and I impatiently took a hit and released it close to the smoke detector and set it off! Security was at my door within minutes, but was satisfied that it was the shower steam since the door was not closed. My small carts emit no detectable odor. Take note you deviants.

We had 2 days at sea, and I reserved my honey-sticks for this time. It had been 20+ years, but the feeling was very familiar. While a lot of folks were excited to view and participate in the hairy-chest contest at mid-ship, I was on a fore deck wondering where we were going in life. :science:

Security coming onto the islands seemed non-existent. Coming back onto the boat they put our bags through scanners. I took my pen onto most islands.

Coming back into Miami I ditched the almost-empty carts. I would have eaten the rest of the distillate, but had plans to rent a car and go to the Everglades. Later at the Miami airport I forgot to remove the sunscreen from my backpack, which attracted the interest of a TSA guy. Going through the pack he pulls out one of my batteries and asks if it is an-e-cig. I say yes, and he asks if I am trying to quit. I BS with him a bit about it and he lets us go.

Haven't been on a cruise since taking up vaping in 2014. Been on plenty of cruises before that and I ALWAYS brought herb with me.

I take several supplements daily like a multi, ginkoba and glucosamine/chondroiten, etc. I would grind up some good herb to a fine powder (like the recommended grind used in the MFLB). I would then remove the contents of the ginkoba caplets and replace with the herb. Each little caplet, because of the small grind, could fit a good bit of herb. Then I place the re-filled caplet in the same jar as the rest of the ginkoba. Smells and looks fairly close. Once we were on the ship I'd get a can of soda, empty it and put a hole in one end and cover the hole with a piece of aluminum foil. Then I'd use a pin to put holes in the tin foil. Basic one-hitter. We'd sit in the little bathroom, take one-hits and breath them into a towel. The towel, soda can and caplets were placed in a large baggie and were kept in the in-room safe. A little perfume on the way out of the stateroom masked what little smell there was. Hardest part was getting rid of the can and hand washing the towel. It also broke my heart on one cruise because I hadn't finished all the caplets but had to toss them because I wasn't going to take the chance of bringing them off the ship with me. The can is a pain because there are very few areas on a ship without a camera working and you're gonna want that can off the ship or buried in garbage.

Why so paranoid about the can? I've seen the dogs brought on board prior to letting folks off the ship once. On another cruise the woman in front of us had her bags opened by customs (so did we) and they found some pills she bought in Mexico she had no prescription for. The agent was livid and actually said out loud to the woman "How could you be so stupid! Now we're going to have to escort you to the back office and go through all your bags". On another cruise we saw a couple kids around 18-20 escorted off the ship by US agents when we were disembarking but they brought it on themselves by trying to get some younger teenage girls high the night before and got caught when the girls parents raised a stink with security.

These days...I would just bring a vape pen and some distillate cartridges. I would keep a decoy non-MJ cartridge too but it's the packaging for the non-MJ version that's important because the MJ version won't have any packaging.

It's an interesting thread it just threw me off! I need to go on a cruise. Though I have Vaped on a plane before.

Yeah, cruising seemed quite comfortable for an FC-er. Everyone is careening around cuz they are drunk or because the boat is listing, in happy moods it seemed to me.

I did participate in a free-throwing contest on deck, which was hilarious. Never seen so many air-balls!
