God, I'm so jelly of you guys... I was hoping to find the mflb cheaper on ebay or something, but either way it costs around half my salary, and i don't even know how much shipping to romania costs... i'm used to 3-4$ pipes... but going healthy seems like an expensive deal :(

First up its a one off cost.

Second you save money in the long run as the LB is very efficient and thus you use considerably less weed.

Third, can you really put a price on your own health and if you were to put a price on your own health I would assume it would be more than $100.

I still have an old maple beta LB packed away. It's sentimental to me. :)

I also have new maple, walnut, and cherry LB's. :D

Come on now.. you're making me want to snatch up one of the cherry LBs.. and I absolutely do not NEED to...

I'm sorry, lol I didn't need the cherry either, but I do use all 3 of them. Either by keeping them in different rooms (trench filled and ready to go), or taking all 3 on the go with filled trenches so I don't have to worry about filling up on the go. They all get used all the time. :)

what is the legal status of weed related items in romania? i'm going to bukarest in june, maybe to brasov, too. sometimes used mflbs pop up here at ebay for around 50 euros, so maybe we can figure something out.

While the legal status of almost any recreational substance in romania is !DENIED!, there's head-shops plenty around here. The police doesn't seem to be too stuck up. We don't have many head-shops, but the ones that we do have get clients no problem and operate legit. Although most operate as smoke-shops. However you can buy seeds, home-vapes, bongs, etc.

Sure, drop me a pm whenever you come by. Dropping by for business or pleasure? :) Either way, I recommend brasov. Most cities in my country are pretty awesome EXCEPT bucharest.

Trust me, I agree with this completely. Especially since I've been having health and respiratory problems of late. I gave up smoking and went on to e-cigs to improve my health, and it did, but after a while I had to give that up too, I have a feeling that long-term it's not very healthy either.
But I can't simply give the herb up :D I'm either getting a MFLB or a Dragon Lite, although I'd much prefer the MFLB.

Im in exactly the same boat.

I gave up smoking because as I reached my mid 30s I felt that I was beginning to get respiratory problems. Giving up smoking is hard!

I didnt want to give up weed so mainly I vape now (still have an occasional smoke with friends) but 95% of the time I vape.

In all honesty the Dragon lite is probably virtually the same as the MF. However the MF warranty is amazing, I have has a MF since they came out a few years ago and Im now on my 3rd box, they do break sometimes and the MF warranty is such that they just send you a new one.

So from a long term point of view, its cheaper to get the MF than the dragon even though the MF costs more.

It's a subtle taste difference, but I also use the cherry and walnut stems as well. :)

I mainly just love having all the wood choices they have to offer.

I notice a subtle difference more coming from the various wooden stems than from the actual box.
Love the walnut on walnut!

check out this og launch box..
34paxcn.jpg

this is the LB that started it all for me.. led me to get my first LB and make a firm switch to vaping.. it sat in a drawer for most all of its life.. neglected.. until i broke it out one day to see if i would like it more than my iolite.. and i did.. and it taught me how to like the iolite and use it right... a friend got it in 09 at LA hemp con i believe.. it has the copper clad rails and the wood blocks under the trench.. it's cool looking at it in person.. there is a little burr on all the cuts.. it's not as perfectly straight.. even the lid isn't chamfered perfectly either.. the finish in general is more coarse.. the light still works.. i cleaned it up last night and it's still in good shape.. it's cool holding it by the latest LB. also check out the serial number on this thing.. it's super short haha..

any other og LBs out there?? still kickin.. any beta's still around??

This post got me curious as to how old my MFLB's were, as they were purchased before they were mass marketed. I'm proud to say I own the following serial number 47392 and believe it or not 14614 (didn't offer the power light then). I'm curious if they started with 00001?

No, unfortunately they aren't sequential. I was about to quote the relevant section from Vaporpedia, but it seems Vaporpedia is down. :o

Edit: It's back.
Vaporpedia said:
The number is non-sequential. It contains some quality control codes that allow Magic-FLight to identify the batch if there ever turns out to be any QA issues that need to get fixed.
Magic-Flight recently converted to 6 and 7 digit serial codes, so some people will start noticing these. Early boxes from the first production batch have 4 digits--those Boxes were purchased by their early adopters, sometime in June or July.
There is no Box number 1--sorry. There are no 1 or 2 digit Boxes either. It's doubtful that there are even any 3 digit ones--if there are, they are extremely rare--probably collectors items by now. A handful of "special" numbers have also been reserved.

My old birch beta box (thanks pakalolo) has a six digit serial number, starting with 133XXX. I will always keep that LB, even if I never use it again. I love having been part of the Magic Flight family for so long. :)

OF- Everyone I have met that owns one has claimed the MFLB works great- So i was just saying I need to get new batteris in there before I can say I tried this LB this time. Trying this one before maybe a year ago, barely worked and was just frustrating. I doubt this friend had was keenly aware of anything batteriy related. Other friends whose units i've vaped also were not connoisseurs but the results were typically better.

I've gotten good hits out of MF's before, and like I said, I'm just resurrecting this from my closet and getting it going after I bought it a few months ago for 20usd. It needs a new mouthpiece too. This will accompany a house vape, and Vapolution torcher pocket vapes in my current setup. I have the odd iolite around the house, hoping the magic flight will replace and improve upon my stealth public smoking jaunts. Excited to see where this little guy fits in. like you say, quite the niche-beast. I hope mine still has the fire inside to make vapor!

I guess I made a newb mistake and we might be defining our terms differently; huge clouds is not what I meant I really meant visible xhale. I have used them before here and there, and was always able to get a trifle of vapor and I quickly realized shaking and vaping might help. How long do you generally hold down the button? Are you inhaling while you hold the button, or going back and forth; both and either/or.

Great to hear. I agree, you should generally be able to see vapor. But that's a long way from "People always claiming huge clouds of vapor".

Pak's Wiki page has a lot of good information on use I think. For myself, I power on (sometimes checking the bulb to ensure good contact has been made) then wait several seconds for the heat to build (with really fresh herb, too moist really, you can often see condensation of water on the inner surface of the lid for the first hit or two) then gently take the hit over say 15 seconds, power on full time. You quickly learn to detect the flavor shift toward 'burnt popcorn' as a warning of impending combustion, I drop power immediately if it goes that far. But otherwise, more power is better than less for getting it going. Don't be afraid to use the battery.

Use a fresh battery with each trench, load about 1/8 gram, keep it dry and fine ground, hit gently, shake between hits....... It'll all come together. Repeat stuff that works well for you, try alternates to stuff that doesn't.

Getting the box to work depends on getting a lot of small details right all at the same time, but it quickly becomes natural and easy to do. That means you need good batteries or you're cooked.

Best wishes.

I'd like to take a moment to mention here, that on the battery quality side, by far the best consumer batteries are recognized to be the Sanyo Enerloops, that come in 2000mAh flavor and Enerloops XX in 2400 mAh flavor. That's what I'm planning to get when I'll be able to afford my MFLB. Supposedly they have much smaller Self-Discharge rates compared to competitors, and many more cycles, and are closer to the advertised capacity due to not dropping voltage as they discharge as badly as others.

Well, I am now one of those people who keeps a loaded MFLB and a fresh battery on the bedside (couchside) table in order to be able to hit it FIRST THING in the morning. You know.... like within 20 seconds?

I've used an UD and a DBV in the morning, but man... the MFLB seems to just work wonders for those morning medication needs. It's a real shot in the arm!

I am usually a pretty groggy and depressed (and angry) morning person. Often, it takes deep focus just to be willing to try to roll myself out of bed. But since I started keeping my MFLB there, it's almost as though my body is waking up a little earlier and a little easier just so I can use it.

And after hitting it, I actually WANT to go about my (pointless) day.

This little guy is growing on me more and more.

Magic Flight, I thank you again for your fine product!

I used mine at 40-50% for the longest time. Only recently I have gone up to 60 or 70%

The concentrate tray will do that. ;)

I don't recall seeing advice about cleaning the tray except for torching it, which I can't do (no torch). Would an ISO soak be a bad idea?

I'm probably looking like a newb here...

Funny, just yesterday I was thinking of posting about how I'd recently rediscovered the joys of lower temperature vaping. I got whisked to the top end of the PA dial back when I first tried running my launch box through glass. It's too much fun watching clouds pour out of bubbles. Yesterday something moved me to lower the dial on the PA and go for some gentler hits with minimal vapor on exhale. Come to think of it, it was probably inspired by the experiences I had while getting a feel for the Cera. My launch box had been irritating my throat so much more than the Cera, I even tried to use the Cera mouthpiece on the launch box which was fun and successful but not natural enough to use all the time. It's embarrassing to think that it didn't occur to me earlier to just lower the heat some… A face-palm moment for sure, but a pleasant one in the end.

The Iso soak will not help with this tray because it has a quartz pad under a screen.
Hold the tray with a hemostat and heat it in the blue flame of a stove burner until it glows.
Done!

Question about the PA. I always use it on max or close to max power.. does anyone really use it on low to medium?
I only use higher power (75% ) to finish a trench. 100 for the concentrate trays. Usually with sativas I'll start at 30ish and indicas a little higher.
