Bubble Hash Production

Since switching to real Bubble Bags, my son is churning out some killer full melt. We also just added a 160 bag and then end results (73 and 25) are amazing:
img4557ev.jpg

That's about 1/4 OZ. He is refining the methods all the time and has even produced what looked like BHO a few times. This stuff all melts and is amazing, but we would like to hear what others are doing. Right now we fresh-freeze (I always used to dry it out first) and use 220/190/73/25 in a 5 gallon bucket. He mixes it with a mixing bowl tool attached to a drill. We don't beat it up as much as we used to, and work with small batches.

What are you guys doing? How is your yield? What micron sizes do you use or recommend?

He has been reading a lot on Bubbleman's forum, but I figured I'd ask here as well. He is really into this and just wants to improve! Thanks guys :)

I'd reccomend adding a 90 micron and a 120 micron bag. 120/90/73 tends to be the good stuff.

That stuff looks good but a bit darker than I prefer. I don't like using a drill, its a bit too aggressive for the final product I like, ups your yeild though. A gentle stir with a paddle of some sort works well, and the machines work well too.

If you like dabbing I'd also say avoid any sort of pressing. The stuff I get that is pressed never dabs as well.

And, of course, everything is affected by strain; from which micron sizes are best to use, to how aggressive to spin the water, to texture/potency/dab-ability (dability?), to yeild is affected by strain. I've heard sour diesiels tend to yeild really well for water hash, but I have no direct experience with as much.

Thanks for the info! When this hash comes out of the bag wet, it's almost white. After it dries it takes on the different colors you see in the picture. At this point, most of the bulk comes from the 24. I'd like to add another size at some point. What would be better a 120 or a 90?

What kind of yield have you been getting, tstat? And what quality bud do you use?

Well, it's made from trim only. I really have no idea what kind of yield he gets. He uses very small amounts of trim and keeps adding more after each run. Most of it is fresh frozen Blueberry Haze trim, but some of it is Pineapple Express. After a weekend of hash making, we have about 10 grams and a ton of material left.

get the 90! it gives the best final product in my opinion.

73 is still very good quality.

25 i normally don't even use. a bit too much plant material left in.

i use the mix in a bucket and strain through the 220,190,160,90,73
i toss out the 220 and 190.
160 i'll use in baked goods.
90 and 73 i smoke.

also it really seems like the best stuff i've gotten was from real bubblebags. the knock-offs never seem to be as good.

best of luck to you!

We used a #200 top mesh and a #25 bottom mesh. and leafs as trim.
300g of that trim became 15g hash. (got a nice load of fluffy buds for BHO in the near future!)
So as it had been snowing and freezing, the box with leaves had been outside, it whas frozen solid. We used a large rain barrel with a tap on the bottom. All the leaves went in, together with half a barrel of snow (free ice!!) and the rest water. A day worth of mixing/draining/repeat... in the damn cold! But a nice result.

I don't mind it having a little more moroccan hash structure from the #200-#25 setup. It gives a nice essence when vaped. I think that, because it isn't as oily as other concentrates, it's easier to vape in systems that are meant for herb. It won't melt that much.
I use it in my VG and in my Volcano just as I would do with herbs and it works great. Maybe I do have to clean a bit more. But it's mighty potent and tastes great.

YMMV

Cheers

I agree with you about 90 being amazing product.

Tstat, I just reread the original post, and would also change my recommendation to the 90 bag. I missed that you said you added the 160, with that the 90 is def a great bag to add. The 120 suggestion was based on my thinking you were using 220/190/73/25, but having the 160 in there too, I would add the 90. Or both.

So today I take a tiny amount of what I thought was White Widow hash that was made this weekend. I put it in the Eclipse and get it bubbling. It was totally waxy and bubbled right up. One huge hit. Turns out it was actually Vortex.

Before I could even blow out my hit, I started coughing and I couldn't see. I got all sweaty and nearly passed out!
I'm writing this an hour later and I'm still wrecked. That was a big mistake, hehe. Had I known it was Vortex, I would have taken a much smaller piece. I could never be a "dabber" :)

Vortex from TGA is at the top of my list to try, a predominately Sativa hybrid strain that with some pheno's the high has no ceiling uhhhhh....yes please. I hear the bubble hash from this and TGA's Apollo 13 is incredible.....like the creme de la creme. man keep us posted

Never say never. Although I do love the taste from the Eclipse, especially the H2o version.

Yea, seriously. And it's not like I haven't used cannabis A LOT for the last 30 years. The stuff my son is producing right now is like BHO. It's gooey, pliable, and melts big time. But I use a lot of Widow and just wasn't prepared for the Vortex hash. I've said it before, but this is the strongest MJ I have ever encountered.

Yea, I use the H2O with a green Gear bong my wife bought me in Canada many years ago. It's a perfect setup. I just need to be careful! That is the highest I have ever been.

Sorry for the back to back post. I was way behind the responses!

Hence why vortex is at the top of my list .....you are not the first experienced cannabis user I have heard make that remark

Edit: damn it I meant to cut, then paste that into my other post whoops

That's crazy looking bubble. Do you know why the colors are so different? I thought at first this was a picture post-vape because the dark part is almost burnt looking

Different qualities? I'm guessing the lighter one is much more potent than the darker one. Actually, I'd love to have some of that vortex stuff.... :ko:

Yea, they came out of different bags. The lighter one is the one that kicked my ass. I'm afraid to try the other one!

seriously tho, wow! thankyou for sharing.

The only way to get bubble here, just like BHO is to make your own.
It was $20 for a SSTB & $260+ for genuine bubble bags.

Till now, I thought i made the wiser decision. Not so sure after seeing those pics.

I grew a couple Vortex plants recently from seed and used some ipower bubble bags I got off Amazon to process some trim. I like the strain. Very heavy on the up, energetic, sativa side, which I like. It was my first time out with the bags and I didn't know what I was doing and probably lost a lot of the trichomes but I did get this greenish stuff which turned into amazing stiff, pliable, black hash, mainly from a 23 micron bag. Tasted very much like Afghan hash I remember smoking in college in the 70's. After letting it dry for a week I kneaded the little piece with my fingers and it turned into lovely, fragrant hash! Up to that moment I had been irritated and thinking bubble bags were too much work and too little result. Consumed in no time but I will try again soon with all these leaves I have left.

OK so tell me the advantages of expensive bags. I am also thinking of getting one of those little washing machines. Anyone have experience with them? Also, what about all-mesh bags? Those would seem easier to drain, but would you end up with trichomes sticking in the mesh all over the bag rather than concentrating on the bottom?
