The Magic-Flight charger is fine for any NiMH battery.

The stock charger is not a quick charger. Quick chargers typically take about 15 minutes and drastically reduce the life of your batteries. In fact my guess is that's what deadheadbill is using because that's the most obvious reason why his batteries die so fast.

The stock charger is a smart charger. It takes 2-4 hours depending on how flat they start out, and it will not overcharge your batteries.

You both might want to check the Chargers section of the MFLB Vaporpedia entry.

Got ya I didnt mean that fast.that has to do some damage id imagine.
When i had my 1st Box the charger(2 cell) seemed to get hot and i purchased a MH c 401 charger.
On quick mode its "100 minute" charge.
Ive always used the "slow/normal charge" which took between 3-5 hours, and it does 4 at once and works great with the magic flight branded batteries.

I used the box as my only vape for a year and found i needed more batteries(had 8 in rotation),with only 2 batteries if your a heavy user you will go through them fast.

I did purchase a 2nd box and the charger that came with it(2 cell) didnt get hot and works so i keep it in the car and do use it when needed.

Beautiful grinder, just saw a video from Vitolo in youtube and is really useful and beautiful. But I think $62.95 for it is too much (price with shipment to Spain, don't know why their shipping is so expensive) do you know any other place to buy it or any other way to grind so finely?

I've never done it myself, but some people here have used an electric coffee grinder to get similar results.

They don't sell the MFLB grinder in other shops? Maybe with a cheaper shipping like other places like PIU or PV have.

Thx for your help, I will take the rest of my questions to the grinders post, they will be there better than here

Once again, the Lady hits it square on the head! Electric coffee grinders do a great job, you want the 'whirling blades' kind, not a burr grinder. I do a few grams at a time, does a great job.

Don't use it for coffee, of course.

Yeah, coffee grinders ftw!
Haven't used my alu grinder since I got that coffee grinder.

Btw, received my MF order todayyy!
S*cks that I had to pay $65 customs..but at last my setup is now complete.
Received today:
-2x Walnut WPW
-2x PA
-2x Walnut stem
-1x car accessory for the PA
-some Silicone Dielectric Compound (for the WPW - bong connection from what I understand)

This will go with my brother's Ehle 500ml Icebong & mine.

Have another order making it's way to me, ordered @ PuffItUp, Randy hooked me up with a solid deal;
-2x Walnut LB's
-2x Vape Cases
-2x Walnut stem

Idea is to have the maple LB on the go in a Vape Case, and the Walnut LB for the bong setup.
Will post pics ASAP!

I use a couple of nickels in a pill bottle and it will turn it to dust.

As for myself, I get it this fine buy using this grinder described here.

Awesome grind, for the price I will have to buy one and try

Perhaps some ISO alcohol to clean? Some washers from the hardware store?

I was thinking about using stuff I have at home like glass beads or balls from piercings ( I have a lot of both lol) I think a couple or three of them in a small BHO bottle will do the work.

I've used the coin in a pill bottle trick and it works amazingly well. In my limited experience, round objects did not work as well, but they did help.

I get as coarse or fine a grind with my Mendo Mulcher, as with any combo of grinders I've had. In the past, I used 2 -3 different grinders, depending what vape I wanted to use. It was a world of difference between what I wanted for the MFLB and the HI.

For HI grind, literally, 2 full turns (clockwise/counter) and its good for the HI and VB. 5 turns or more... 10 and you're getting close to kief. Takes a Hell of a long time, to gunk it up to.

Ya know, I might gift my 4 piece Sharp Stone buy a SCS (I MEAN A FREAKING MENDO MULCHER!!!) after seeing you talk so lovingly about it (plus the grind pics were solid.)

This is/was my 5th grinder. It is the only one, I have ever liked. I'd give the MFLB one high marks, if it weren't so damn small. hurts my hands. The new Mendo's with the larger top cap, is so easy to grip and turn.

Its funny, it doesn't have that silky smooth turn, of some of the gasket grinders... but, the fit is superb, being made out of a solid piece of aluminum and as I said, nearly impossible to gunk up. Oh and the magnet is STRONG. Grip it by the top and swing it around strong.

.

I have come to the same conclusion. My original charger died within a month or so and the retailer wanted me to return the whole unit. So, I just bought a cheap EverReady charger, that seems to be when the problem started. The thing is, I was so new to the box I didn't realize it wasn't normal.

I just ordered a new set of powerex's and a good charger. Hopefully problem solved.

Hello Everybody, I am new to the forum.I have tried searching on google to find out how to dry your weed to get it ready to grind and vap with the magic flight. I have found where some but it seems like these methods are more for freshly clips nugs. What do you usually do to dry it before vaping? Are there any tips to know when a nug is dried just enough to vape good but not lose thc?

when i first got my LB i went out and got an Energizer 15 min charger, since MF recommended it to frequent users on their FAQ page.. but i didn't like it either... batteries didn't hold a charge long enough, and i was degrading batteries fast... i went from that to just topping off my batteries after each trench and draining them once a week or so.. seemed to work good enough for me... iv'e never had the chance to use a nice charger, just the MF one

Howdy, welcome to the forum. Good question.

I think a good starting place is too dry herb works better than too moist. Vitolo suggests a good test, if your bud grinds (cuts rather than tears) it's probably dry enough. So try grinding a bit, if it doesn't do well, leave it open in a warm spot for a while longer and try again.

You generally don't loose THC by curing, I wouldn't let that hang you up. For sure the bud is going to get heated until it's really really dry before vaping starts anyway (costing you battery life and 'box time' in the process). If it's going to dry out anyway, why fight it before?

I don't dry buds enough so they crumble, although some do. I grind when it's dry enough to grind well then leave it open for a while to dry some more (it dries much better after grinding since there's more surface area then). You quickly develop a feel for what ground herb that will quickly vape in the box looks like going it.

It's all good, 'take it out and play with it'.

That's not at all surprising really, let's look at that recommendation:
"Anyone looking for the fastest possible alternative charger which is known to be reliable should consider the Energizer 15-minute charger with the Maha Powerex 2700mAh batteries. This is the best combination for people who use the Box at least once every day and who are looking for optimum runtime performance. (The Energizer batteries themselves are not nearly as good -- take it or leave it,"

To me the first part sets the tone. Performance is being sacrificed at the altar of speed. This is for a special case where other desirable features are 'traded away'. The more general advice that follows is IMO much more useful:
"As an alternative configuration for people who use the Box less frequently (not every day) but are still interested in optimum performance, Magic-Flight recommends the Imedion batteries and the Maha MH-C9000 charger -- this is the best overall combination for both battery longevity and long vaping sessions. Be advised that this charger is somewhat more complex to use than most chargers and will be more expensive than most to purchase. Magic-Flight staff uses the Maha MH-C9000 internally and find them to be excellent. They are a bit arcane for the average user, but for those who are into the advanced "tech" of rechargeable batteries, it is a great unit"

Notice the Imedion (the battery MF uses) and the Energizer charger is not a recommended configuration. That charger abuses those batteries. IMO that's important for folks to consider when they look to upgrade from the factory provided gear.

I leave it out for an hour or so? The stuff you find is for curing, we're drying. Sometimes I'll put it in the hand grinders, grind up some, and take off the top to let it sit on my desk for an hour or so. Give it a quick secondary grind (which should be easier by this point). You can also leave the top of your container off. You won't destroy any cannabinoids by letting it sit out for a bit to remove the moisture, but you will if you try to use too much heat to dry it (such as an oven or some such idea.)

Thats a big help, I am going to try this. I really havnt been getting the most out of it since it has been a little moist so after a hit or two it starts clumping up. I contacted magic flight and they say "bone dry" but I wasnt to sure about it being that dry. So thank you again.

When we talk about dryness here we mean water content. Clumping is due to stickiness, which comes from the trichomes and is usually a Good Thing. I keep my stash mostly frozen, which tends to reduce moisture content. For daily use, at my desk I keep a small amount of each strain in a pill bottle along with a desiccant packet. By the time I use it, water content is pretty close to zero.

Before someone reacts in horror (which happened the last time I mentioned this) the desiccant comes with my medication.
