I get good cloudy hits out of the 2 foot whip using the power adapter. I set it at a bit higher temp than I normally would and draw a little faster. Make sure to keep an eye on your box though so you don't combust.

12 o'clock on the PA gave some nice hits so i guess my batteries must be going... I've combusted once using the stem before it wasn't easy getting the stank out of the whip.

What's the best way clean the tubing part?

I had the following reply from Tina Marie in Magic Flight:

"Hi,
I went ahead and pushed your warranty through. Please do not forget to submit your photos. ;)
We are sorry for your families loss. Sending you all love and light.
We are submitting your request today and your shipment will be
sent in the mail via USPS sometime over the next 3-4 business days."

I would like to give you my condolences also. I know T. She is a very sweet person, very much in tune... very much a people person. I guarantee you, her message was heartfelt and sincere.

Their customer service is really amazing. Just today i had a conversation with my dad about customer service. He told me some people just expect that the company fixes it, even if it's their own fault.
I agree with him on that. I was talking about a specific case with him where the customer destroyed his own gear and actually sued the company.

But i told him "some companies do give you replacements, even if its your own fault. But not a lot of companies are like that". I did not tell him that's the case with my magic box of vapor (he does know i vaporize) but he couldn't believe it!

My walnut MFLB and WPW arrived today! :D There was also a little tube of 'Silicone Dielectric Compound'. Can I throw this away or will it come in handy some day?

Aha! So that's where that came from. I found mine lying around on my desk a couple of weeks ago and I've been wondering about it ever since. I don't know about you but I will find a use for it. I think it's meant to help avoid glass lock with the connector.

I saw it in with my WPW too. I had no idea what it was for, but the glass lock theory did occur to me. I haven't even opened mine yet.

MF said it was exactly for that, paka. I asked the same a while back when I bought the original WPA. Thhen I got it again when I received the WPW. A little bit goes a long way.

squirt 91% Iso in it and shake it around.... spill it out, then run warm water and dish soap through.... followed by a long rinse, and then a complete drying at a vacuum cleaner.
That is my method.
I have done it daily for two years to my original MFLB "whip".. and it is still in top shape! (slightly discolored, however)

Thanks ! I wasn't sure if the iso would harm it

From the MF site : Please note that the Water Pipe Whip comes with a small tube of non-toxic silicon gel. Use of this gel prevents the glass end of the WPW from sticking inside the glass downstem of your water pipe, and will insure a longer life for the product.

I need to pick some of this gel because my hydratube often is hard to separate from solo gong

The neat part about the silicone base is it doesn't wash off in water, soap and almost all solvents. So a little lasts a very long time. The surfaces must be clean for the same reason (you end up with the grease on top of the wet not the glass).

A good substitute is in the plumbing supplies sections of the local hardware store. It's used to lube the rings and seals in fancy faucets and stuff. As a lube it's only OK, but it's sticky and lasts almost forever.....don't get it on your clothes for that reason, it doesn't wash out.

The stuff MF is shipping is basically the same, only packaged for the electrical guys not plumbers. To make high voltage connections waterproof. Sometimes auto stores carry it for spark plugs and such. That's what the 'dielectric' part is about. Electrical properties we don't really care about.

FWIW it should also work fine on your Flash Vape cap as well......

Actually we do care if we're talking about the FV, because someone might be tempted to use it on the battery compartment threads and it is specifically non-conductive.

OB topic: MFLB whips are silicone and can handle ISO cleaning. You can even reclaim resin that way, although there won't be much in one of those whips.

There are no conductive greases. Except the ones that are graphite or metal filled....and they're seriously messy. This very same grease is used in the auto and other industries to fill connectors in bulbs and the like exposed to the elements.

It's desirable high voltage characteristics include not only insulation itself but the lack of the tendency for water to condense on it and form a film.

As long as the film gets wiped clean allowing the metals to contact at the atomic level we're fine.

Same stuff, a little more highly refined is sold as vacuum grease, it too works fine for the FV threads. Not as good as the dedicated flashlight greases (some of which are also basically the same stuff) perhaps, but better than vegetable oil which I suspect it better than spit, which is better than dry?

might be a little off topic but i doubt we'd be this close again, also i kinda suspect the MFLB regulars are quite knowledgeable
reading this has reminded me of a problem i need to face, with locked glass on my verdamper, the heating element is jammed into the bowl!!

Would i be right in thinking a silicon lube would help, are there any products designed for this, as in thin lubes that could "drip" into the joint.
this is really been a ongoing problem i have tried rapid heating on the female joint, but I'm reluctant to apply to much force, also due to the electrical nature of the heating element i can't really fully submerge it.
i really don't want to break this piece
any help would be really appreciated

I don't know that vape, but have faced locked ground glass joints in scientific glassware many times over the years. IMO silicone based lubes are a poor choice, the tend to not penetrate. And you can't thin them.

What I've done is mix very thin oil (I used lube oil for Turbo molecular pumps, basically very pure light hydrocarbon oil) and thinned it way down with Acetone. Then using a (glass) syringe and needle lay a bead of it around the junction and keep it wet. The idea is the Acetone carries the dissolved oil into the gaps.

Air tool oil or Marvel Mystery Oil or maybe Kroil might be good starting points if you don't have any TMP oil handy....... Kerosene might even do it?

Another trick is to stand the whole thing up in the ultrasonic sink and let the vibrations help get the thinned down liquids in.

Finally, putting a bamboo chop stick on the female part, pointed along the angle of the junction, and tapping the back end several times has also helped get the juice into the joint.

Good luck.

I'll try some of your suggestions,
De Verdamper is a pretty old school vape but it's unbeatable, along with he volcano it's a favorite in Amsterdam's coffee shops

You're very welcome, good luck.

Very neat machine, I can see why folks would like it. Never seen one, then again I'm told I need to get out more......

Visually interesting. Works for me.

Thanks.

I only have the traveler model,

check out the deluxe!

Also wanted to share something i found pretty impressive that i found out when emailing the magic flight team.
He explained to me that they had not spent a single penny on advertising in the entire time they have been in business, relying solely on word of mouth to spread the word. This is clearly working well for them, i guess word of mouth is all you need when you have a great product!

Also wanted to make sure you all caught this info straight from MFLB when asked about future products:
"As far as new stuff in the works, stay tuned. We’ve got a few rabbits waiting to be pulled out of our magic hat this year! Keep an eye on our blog (and, of course FC’s boards) for the latest at: blog.magic-flight.com"

Awesome

My suggestion;
take a wash cloth, and dip it in Ice water.
Ring it out, and wrap it around the glass of the trapped piece.
Next...
while lightly pulling and wiggling the piece held by the washcloth...
heat the "trapping glass" with a blast from a small torch.

The tops contraction, coupled with the bottoms expansion... aided by your slight wiggle will "set you free".

Hey bluemonkey ,
After you get your glass piece extracted , I would recommend lubing your joints with Bee's wax .
It's cheap and all natural . In my LHS , it's called " joint-wax " .

I emailed magic flight a few weeks back about the new batteries in the premium kits and they said they would be selling them seperately in a few months. Im assuming thats probably one of the new things but im curious of what else they have in store for us

There is a god!!

Yeesh!

Me, I'd just squirt some damn WD-40 in there and be done with it.

Well a thorough ISO cleaning, afterwards.

I'm not too worried about the whip, I clean her up with some ISO too. Smells a bit funky after a while of use and it doesn't completely wash away either, but it's not gonna be more than a few bucks for a bunch of whip material! Just an FYI, you've got like 10 line breaks in your sig
