reclaim taste question

Hello everyone,
here's a question bouncing around my head for days and the question is kinda personally based so what tastes bad to me may actually taste good to others. so anyways.....

I do reclaim harvests from my DBV wands and my Solo wands (often called wand hash) whenever they are dirty and lately i have been filtering out the dry material (i know you don't have to) so that i can make an oil from it that i can use on my nail. i find the taste of this reclaim to be kinda enjoyable to sometimes being downright tasty. I also save all my ABV from my use and when i get enough i ISO it and make ABV oil to use on my nail. Now this oil is vary lacking in taste. sometimes i need a shot of something to take the taste out of my mouth.

so here's my question or questions... if the wand hash is by product of my vaping and the ABV is also a by product of my vaping..... why does the ABV oil taste so bad compared to the wand hash oil?? the ABV oil tastes slightly better (not by much) than the ol days when i scrapped my bowls and bongs of the resin and smoked that when i was out of bud.... YUCK!!

i still will use the ABV oil as i like to use all my products to their fullest and i love the fact i am recycling my ABV but the taste is bad. while on the contrary, i look forward to dirtying up my DBV and solo stems for the wand hash.

second question..... is there any way to improve the taste of ABV oil?? should i do something differently when i make it?? or perhaps my method of making it is wrong?

Because the wand hash is from all the goodness from the weed, it literally is the vapor, condensed with some added particulate. The abv is still all the leftovers the vaporization process didn't get.
I had success water curing my abv before an iso extraction and got quite nice stuff, lovely cbd effect.

Wand hash is condensed vapor, so it's distilled cannabinoids and such. Iso exctraction of abv is using a solvent to get what was left behind, and tends to grab a bunch of other things along the way, less desirable things. I wouldn't expect the flavor to be similar.

How long do you expose your abv to the Iso? Cannabinoids extract faster than a lot of things so the shorter the time the better the taste. Also, freezing the iso/abv will help, if you weren't already doing that. But the best tasting abv tends to still retain the 'nutty' flavor.

i do freeze my ABV and ISO prior to running it. my ABV is in the ISO i would say close to a minute all together

One word - Terpenes.

Part of the experience of enjoying cannabis is the smell and namely (with vaping) the taste.
There has been more discussion regarding the role of terpenes as far as their medicinal value (taste is a powerful sense)

Fresh cannabis (that gets vaped, and condenses on your tools) is full of terpenes.
Your ABV - Not so much...

Terps and flavinoids! That's what makes well-made oil taste so good compared to oxidated wax. They're both technically BHO, but in different forms. Whipping aerates it, and that leads to break-downs.
