Need a recommendation

I'm making a new thread for this at the behest of a poster in the LSV thread.

I'm looking for a handheld vaporizer that I just sit on my bed with and watch TV or sports or whatever while blowing the vapor out the window while chilling after work or on the weekend or whatever. This leaves me with a portable vape or the LSV (LSV is the only handheld plug-in vape I know of...) since I don't trust myself with a desktop vape on my bed.

I'm stuck between the PAX, Solo, and LSV right now. I might wait on the Da Vinci Ascent also if it's worth it.

In lieu of the Ascent, which we really don't have a handle on yet, I'd think the Solo would be your best bet.

Thanks a lot. Sorry for the noob question... but where would be the best place to buy one?

I believe that neither should be used (based on my interpretation of your post), "in bed".

Both portable and/or desktop still contain a heater leaving the risk of mishap too dear and probable when in close proximity to flammables.

Pardon me if I misinterpreted your wordings :peace:

I meant just sitting on my bed, not laying under the covers or anything. I live in a studio apartment so my bed is pretty much all of my furniture except for my computer chair haha.

Putting ANY electronic device on ones bed poses a risk of overheating that device.
I know that, I'll be holding it all the time or resting it on my window-sill. I may be new to vaping, but I still like to think I have some common sense lol

My apologies for reading it 'literally' (blame my current state of mind ;) ) however, my intentions were good

I've been quite satisfied with my Arizer Solo for over a year dedicated, and if your enjoyment is found from amazing 'flavour' along with effect, I believe you would as well.

I have hopes on a couple up and comings, but to date.... it's the only device that 'tickled my wallet enough' to jump on, which has proven itself ( for ME ) to have been a wise purchase on my part.

You'd be surprised, I guess, how rare common sense is sometimes. ;)

If your going to be resting it on your window sill, the Solo still seems like the best choice. I think the LSV provides a more satisfying hit, but that long, heavy cord could be a problem, especially on a narrow window sill.

The Solo shuts itself off after 12 minutes, and the only part that gets really hot is the bowl part of the stem. Solo for sure. puffitup has them for $160 with the code word SOLO160, and it's an authorized retailer with a standup reputation.

I use my solo in bed watching tv every night and its perfect for that, except for the one time where I fell asleep mid session and woke up the next morning to find the vape in my bed (thank god for the 12 min auto off)

ehakim,
puffitup.com usually has a way to get it for $160. and safety be damned...it's a great vape for IN bed!
Don't forget PlanetVape, especially if you want to get any PVHE stems/GonG or other accessories. Solo for $160 there also. Very fast shipping.

For the record I ordered from PIU, but only because PV wasn't offering a sale on the Solo at the time.

what is exactlty your definition of handheld?

I have used my underdog while lying in bed a few times, on weekenddays where I had a wake&bake in bed. I can put it on the shelf at the head-end(where also an unused alarmclock* and my keys reside), between hits I can put it on the bed, doesn't matter if it falls over.

*that alarmclock has a time 1,5 hour later as the actual time, and the alarm sometimes doesn't go off, and it works better to have an alarm that is a few metres from my bed although I still get back in bed after snoozing it

likewise I've also used the da vinci in bed one or a few times, wich is slightly more convenient as the UD in bed(no cord, and the weed is inside instead of in a seperate stem)

I would imagine that most vaporizers could work in bed, especialy if you aren't even lying in it but using it as a chair/couch

You could use the extreme Q with a long whip and lounge with it

Yeah, through my research I came across them and have my cart bookmarked.

Will definitely check them out. Thanks for the heads up! Also, since the Solo now has 4 holes in the bundled stem, are the high efficiency stems really worth it?

In my opinion, the Solo is intentionally designed for a restricted draw to maximize the vapor/air ratio. Some people like a draw that's less restricted and buy less restrictive glass stems from Planet Vape or one of Ed's wooden stems. I'd recommend you try the standard stems first. You can always switch to the PV stems if the stock stems seem to restricted to you.
