Health: Vaporizer with or without bong?

Since I figured people on this site have invested alot of $$$/researching buying vaporizers and one of the main benefits is the health of your lungs. Is a water pipe healthier? I am reading contradictory things, some people say it filters out thc so there is a higher tar/thc ratio than just smoking and also taking bigger rips is bad for your lungs. Others are saying its anti-drug pseudo science and does filter out carcinogens. I figured you guys would be more knowledgeable on this issue.

Short story: With bong
It's not hard to take a reasonably sized hit filtered through water. Don't have to milk it thick.

Health-wise, the only negative arises if you don't keep your glass clean, sanitized, and do regular water changes. Otherwise you run the risk of moldy growth!

Like any puddle of water with organic molecules floating in it.

At the minimum, daily or every-other-day water changes is ideal. With the glass itself cleaned & sanitized bi-weekly or weekly.

I only vape in the evening, so I rinse my tube and beaker with hot water after every session and let air dry. Iso shake once a month.

I sure hope that's enough, but so far.............no problems.

don't know about actual health, but to my throat with water feels better. I broke my diffused downstem a few weeks back, and haven't ordered a new one yet even though I should, and don't like it as much with the regular downstem. so lately I've been hitting it dry mostly, and I notice I have to take more time in between hits etc to keep the throat irritation down

Yeah water is best, I prefer a very small piece to a bong for vapor, but yes you need to clean the glass daily.

I'm curious too.
I've been vaping for a little over a month.
About two weeks ago I went to Colorado.
Plentiful herb but my vape was at home.
Combustion (not unlike hijinks) ensued.
Since I've returned I've felt a bad lung burn, hard to explain but it hurts in the area where your wind pipes go into individual lungs (boo-frickin'-hoo).

Any-hoo now I'm seriously considering a water application for my Extreme Q.
This is one of the few sites on the web where folks offer up info that is worth something.
Is water worthwhile on my Q?
What water application would work best?
I've considered a pop can (improvised) bong (i.e whip into water thru can wall and into water, whip sealed with duct tape (or whatever) then I would pull/draw thru hole in top of can) I realize it lacks elegance but I can't see $500 for exotic Frat-boy glass.
Is there a median app that functions better than my plan but doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
. . . and is water filtration worth it?

Just get a 40 dollar glass on glass bong to start, you don't need anything fancy with vapor, just glass. Also I feel like vaping hurts more after smoking while your lungs are fucked up. But if you quit smoking completely and are only vaping for avery long time most lung problems and pains go away.

Nosferatu (Love your film BTW), great tip.

Possible complication:
We were staying in Estes Park (7000 ft + elevation) and did a couple high country hikes (8-9K).
That may have affected me too.
This just occurred to me.
Regardless, you cheered me up,
Thanx!

A good $20-40 diffused downstem coupled with a basic tube (40-70) is all you NEED to vaporbong.

This great collection of videos using the Q with bongs (albeit expensive ones) is on one FC Member's (Pappy) youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/ClubMJW/videos?view=0
((All the videos now til 9 months are a different vape, but the videos that say "1 year ago" are mostly all the Extreme Q. You can see the unit in the preview picture usually.))

YES

YOU NEED NOT SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON THE BONG. I PAID $50 FOR A CHEAPY AT A DISPENSARY. IT'S FUNCTIONAL BUT SURELY NOT BEAUTIFUL

I've considered a pop can (improvised) bong (i.e whip into water thru can wall and into water, whip sealed with duct tape (or whatever) then I would pull/draw thru hole in top of can) I realize it lacks elegance but I can't see $500 for exotic Frat-boy glass.

THERE'S A LOT OF MIDDLE GROUND BETWEEN THOSE TWO OPTIONS

Is there a median app that functions better than my plan but doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, DITCH THE RIGID STOCK EQ TUBING AND GET SILICON. THE STOCK TUBING IS STIFF AND HARD TO USE WITH A BONG. MEDICAL GRADE SILICON IS VERY FLEXIBLE AND TOLERATES A WIDE RANGE OF TEMPERATURES. THEN CONNECT A GLASS ON GLASS ADAPTER FROM YOUR WHIP TO THE DOWNSTEM OF THE BONG.TOTAL OUT OF POCKET FOR SILICON TUBING, A GONG ADAPTER AND A CHEAPY BONG SHOULD BE UNDER $100 EASY. THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO TELL YOU IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. IF YOU DO, YOU MIGHT END UP LIKE STU.

. . . and is water filtration worth it?

VERY MUCH SO

ps Get your throat checked out if it doesn't get better.

I researched this from sites like the Mayo Clinic/John Hopkins. Vaborizing is the closest we can get to nebulizing it. My husband knows a lot about water pipes and said it's still smoking. All the WP does is cool the smoke down. Smoking Cannibus does carry the same risks of lung disease and cancer that cigarettes do. I'm on inhalers and Vaping was pretty much the same expierence.

Olivia wasn't asking about smoking bongs VS vaporizing.

Instead, we're talking about hooking your vaporizer up TO the bong :science:
Moisture conditioned vapor!
