The thread is mega long so it's likely been asked but I really can't read through 136 pages. Are the Space Cases with screens to catch the "pollen" very durable? How easy does the screen get caked and how easy is it to clean? Is it possible to get replacement screens?

While they are durable, there is a way to "cake the screen" and reduce the functionality big time.

You want to avoid EVER touching the screen with your fingers. The oil from your hands can clog the screen, especially if it is a fine micron (which is typical of nicer grinders). The same would probably apply to throwing a penny/quarter in the grinder chamber that wasn't fully cleaned.

Pretty sure scraping the screen wouldn't help, but if it were to get clogged then some high % iso would do the trick.

No. Not Mendo or any other brand I've used. You're not grinding big stems are you? The black stuff could be just plant material. That's the color it turns as residue on the grinder rim when you get some caught there.

I try and remove as many stems as I possibly can. I think the black could have been the remnant that has been repeatedly ground. The silver specs are what have me most concerned. I didn't have an issue of grinding the bud although it was a tad tougher than most of the stuff I've run through it.

Well...not so much anymore as it happens.
The cordless handheld simply don't last me long enough sadly.
Couple that with the fact,which somebody mentioned before,that they can have trouble with bigger pieces of bud and plus they use batteries.
So it was bye-bye to them.
So i've switched to a simple cheap blade coffeegrinder as well and am already regretting not doing that way sooner.
I was expecting that to be much harder to get an even grind with without turning it into really fine powder.
As it goes with pulsing it's quite easy actually,so besides my more expensive real coffeegrinder for grinding my selfroasted beans,the cheaper one has earned a permanent place in the appliance collection as well.

I am pondering the SCS. Actually I have pondered and am going to get it. I really wanted green because it is limited edition so somehow that makes it more special but the red with green herb just feels so much like xmas. I had a happy child hood so anything that reminds me of xmas is a winner. Besides, everytime I open my grinder it is like a present for me. I might as well make it red

I wonder how the grind consistency of the SCS compares to the MixNBall nano grinder and the LB finishing grinder. I have both. I can get an almost powder consistency with both of those grinders. ::trying to rationalize a purchase:: Does anyone here have all three?

Maybe I will sell the 4 piece Sharpstone grinder I've never used, and put the money towards an SCS...

I emailed the support site for SCS and they don't do engravings. They only do it for large orders

Well, I know I'm happy! They're effing badass!

In the short vid, the medium two piece looks kinda purple-ish, but they're actually both gun metal. The large one is perfect for my home use, and the results are dandy for my Cloud and Pax. I haven't tried the medium two piece yet. Likely will tomorrow when on the road. Have shredder (and Pax) will travel.

Well I was pretty much decided on the 2 piece space case but I have been reading alot lately about all the aluminum grinders eventually wearing down and getting aluminum residue/dust in your material. What I was reading said that it doesnt really matter the quality of the aluminum since even 7000+ aluminum is relatively soft.

Whats the point of getting a space case verses this (zinc+steel alloy):

This is why I have aborted aluminum grinders. Many will disagree, but my experience has seen compromise of materials even on high end expensive space case and santa cruz shredders. Not sure about these ones on amazons, but if you look at some of the low reviews they are enough to scare me away.

These days if my material is dry enough I use the storz & bickel herb mill (love it) or if it's not totally dry I use a black & deck SmartGrind. Best of both worlds for me, super cheap ($20 total) and works very well. Some may be concerned about the safety of arcylics, but I have never had a single issue with seeing any material compromise if I clean it properly.

While it is definitely aimed at smokers more than vapor enthusiasts, I picked up a 4 piece small Cosmic grinder. When I initially felt it, it seemed light compared to my SCS. Normally, I don't like grinders to seem light and I immediately questioned my decision.

Inspecting the grinder further, the lighter weight is due to them using thinner metal for the cylindrical body of the grinder. No issue, the body is plenty solid and when you see the herb compartment on this grinder... talk about room!

How's the Grind?

The grind consistency on the Cosmic is fluffy, although a tad course for use in something like the MFLB. Where this grinder REALLY shines is in the act of grinding. The teeth are designed to cut the herb as you turn. Grinding up a full load is butter smooth, and the hole design leads to bud consistently falling into the large storage compartment.

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the quality and usability of the grinder and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cosmic grinders.

After a week with my large 4 piece SCS I am loving it. The quality is top notch. I really love the design of this grinder because the threads line up so perfectly when screwing the pieces back together. The design of the top piece with how it attaches on the side really seems like it keeps the sticky buildup at a minimum. I have had cheap 4 piece grinders so I really appreciate it when it fits together so effortlessly.

On a side note my 1 month old space case has a chip on it on the outside already. I thought these things were supposed to be tough. I am really careful with it too.
